This book is very good!When I first heard of it I thought it would be weird,but I was wrong.This book is very delightful and uplifting.It is one of the best books!

Heidi
Heidi is one of the best books I have ever read!This classic story was a great way for me to learn about life in the Alps of Switzerland.Heidi was my favorite character because she was always happy, even through tough times and getting used to things that she did not normally do.I would recommend this book to anyone who loves being outdoors, especially girls.It is extremely interesting for me to see another way of life than my own.
Timeless
When little Heidi is left in the Swiss Alps with the heathen grandfather, the whole village worries. They knows the stories of the barbarric man who lives alone up in the mountain, far away from village life. How could a man like that possible raise a child? But Heidi is a very special child.

Another DK winner!
This fascinating and fact-filled book is graced with the outstanding production we've come to expect from publisher Dorling Kindersley: Smooth, thick paper, thorough coverage, interesting sidebars, and rich color illustrations (and some photos).Set as a chapter book, "Movie Magic" describes a young girl's experience making a movie, from her audition to acting, makeup, wardrobe, set production, sound, lighting, special effects, and post-production. There are very informative explanations of the technical aspects of film making, especially those dealing with cinematography and special effect techniques.Though DK recommends the book for readers in the 2nd and 3rd grade, I think the content will extend to older children too.The book has 48 pages and includes a glossary of film terms. Very highly recommended!

DK Classics:Aladdin
I just wanted to advise of a correction relating to the "Editorial Review" for this book.It refers to the series "D.K. READERS" (formerly "EYEWITNESS READERS") rather than the series "D.K. CLASSICS" (formerly "EYEWITNESS CLASSICS").The two series share some of the same titles, but the text of the D.K. CLASSICS is closer to that of the origninal works upon which they are based.There are also sidebars on most pages that describe the historical setting for the book and sometimes provide a comparison of the same setting as it is today.The D.K. CLASSICS series are great for doing book reports or for making history come alive through great literature.

A Great Way to Introduce Children to the Classics
My daughter and I have been reading (and re-reading!) the DK Classics (of which "Aladdin" is part of) for several years, since she was 5. These books are very colorful, with lots of illustrations and photos of genuine artifacts, maps, and people from the era in which the story is set. Side panel textgives background information about the author, pictures and story. These "additions" (which do not detract from, but only enhance the story) help the young reader (and the adult too!) put the story into context. It is like getting both a classic and a pictorial history book rolled into one! The text is easy to read. My daughter is now 9, and reading the books on her own. Not only has she developed an appreciation for classic literature, but for history as well. These are great books for parents to read with their children. I highly recommend them!
