4-0 out of 5 stars Biscuit
Cute illustrations show Biscuit's young owner taking care of him as she tries to put him to bed.The text is simple and beginning readers will pick up the simple words easily, with the illustrations a big help when cues are needed.
5-0 out of 5 stars Biscuit
I can remember reading this book all the time when I was younger! I just loved it. It made me want a puppy that was just like the one in the story. Its a good book because the words in it are big and easy to read, and because it teaches responsibility because it shows the girl in the story feeding him and taking care of him.
5-0 out of 5 stars A great first reader
My mother, a teacher, gave us some Bisquit books for our 4 year old son.He loved them so much, he has learned to read them in just a couple weeks.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites
I cannot believe these reviews. This book is funny and I have let my students read it, and they loved it.I do not in any fashion think I am teaching my children something bad. These children act like this and talk like this on the playground, and it's books like these that actually teach something good and engage children in real life situations and discussions. This is what I want for my students and my own children.I am an elementary teacher and a reading specialist, and I give this book definitely the five stars it deserves.I have the originally book, and I came here to buy another copy and read these very subjective reviews. Please, if you are here, then reconsider this book.Check it out of the library if you must.It is not bad as what is being projected here. How the word "hate" is being taken way out of context. You have to see the pictures with the text to appreciate how the little boy is saying this with no meaning behind his words.I know how little boys are as I am a mother of three boys.Well, I had to stand up and say this book is wonderful!I highly recommend it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Characters are not the best examples for your children
My daughter is a beginning reader. After completing "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons," she was able to jump right in and read all but 2-3 of the words in this book. HOWEVER, the two boys in the story are mean spirited. Also, my daughter was frequently confused by the illustrations and had trouble making sense of the pictures in terms of the text.

5-0 out of 5 stars Private Tutor for Children With Dyslexia
Terrific book! What a wonderful lesson for kids. Easy to read. Funny. All of my student can get through it. Pictures help tell the story for kids with reading issues. An book that teaches a wonderful lesson. It is often the first book that some of my student have ever been able to read. The happiness and pride in their faces tell the real story. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Where have you been all my life?
I was browsing in a bookstore connected with an English language school when I saw this title. For years I'd been hoping to find even one book which, oh please dear God just this once, end with something other than the same old, same old, tired old lecture that put-upon older siblings have no option but to eternally suck it up and keep swallowing their mounting exasperation.
2-0 out of 5 stars Rather confusing book for young readers.
I ordered this book along with two other My First I Can Read Books for my daughter who is in first grade and is really struggling with reading. On the whole I was disappointed with it. 4-0 out of 5 stars Children with Younger Siblings Will Love This!
This book is about a little boy who is trying to teach his younger sister how to play hide-and-go-seek without much success. It is written in short sentences and easy vocabulary, making it ideal for the youngest of readers. 5-0 out of 5 stars We like it for all the wrong reasons.
My 6-year-old brought this book home from school, and it's a fine learning-to-read book for her. What struck her, though, was the (unintentionally?) hilarious nature of a few of the illustrations. They have to be seen to be appreciated.Call us juvenile, but we laughed until we cried.I'm buying one for home, and more for gifts! Thanks, Biscuit!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Children's book

5-0 out of 5 stars I'd rather have Ice Cream than go swimming!
My little brother and I used to request this nearly every night as our bed-time book, (back in the early 80s). My favorite part was when Thump and Plunk made up- they got to have ice-cream! This reward has apparently been changed to "a swim" in the new paper-back. I also seem to remember Thump and Plunk being mice, or some sort of rodent. If you can get ahold of an original version, I would recommend that.

5-0 out of 5 stars taking a bath was never so much fun!
With Splish Splash Sarah Weeks has written a charming story that beginner readers will want to read over and over again. Ashley Wolff's illustrations are a delight. The colorful animal characters capture the eyes andimaginations of young readers and pre-readers. My six ear old enjoysreading the story while my 3 year old enjoys looking at the picutures againand again.

Slpish Splash is a wonderful beginner reading book. Chub the fish enjoys sitting in his tub and when ten of his friends want to come in chub says "jump in if you wish". But can a tub so small hold them all? Thestory is fun for beginner readers and Ashley Wolff's illustrations addcolorful and playful fun that beginner readers and non-readers will enjoylooking at time and again.
