Wonderfully Funny!
I never did read any Nate the Great growing up...and what a shame. It's amazing that Sharmat can do so very much in terms of story and humor with so few words. It's great for beginner readers and uproariously funny as a read aloud story (especially if you can do the P.I. voice-over effect). This initial installment (I believe there are over 20 in this series) finds Nate the Great on hire for his friend Annie who has lost a favorite picture of her dog Fang. Nate is confidant that he can find the missing painting and sets out to systematically follow all the leads he's been given. He questions suspects and eventually tracks down the culprit, while enjoying meal after meal and snack after snack of, what else, but pancakes (his favorite food, of course).
The Best Book in the World
This is a good book for Halloween because it takes place on Halloween.It is really, really, really funny.Nate thought his dog was a ghost and that made me laugh. It was my favorite Nate the Great book.It was the funniest book I ever read.

I think this is the best Nate the Great adventure.
Rosamond's present slid off of her sled.Nate the Great walked to her house and noticed that there were 6 cartons of milk on the table.Rosamond had only 4 cats and each cat drank a single bottle of milk.What could theother 2 bottles be for?Nate followed the tracks from Rosamond's sled inthe snow.This led him to a tree by the tracks.He looked up into thetree and found his present, a cat named Super-Duper Hex. Nate the Great
I really liked the book because it talks about some kids that play baseball togheter and when the second base was stollen they decided to look for it. Nate the Great worked hard to find it. He found it behind the bookcase in Oliver's house. I also liked the name he gave his dog: Sludge. I think he is a great detective because he was able to solve the case.

I love the "Nate the Great" books by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat.They keep my daughter's interest and she loves the characters and Nate always having his pancakes.She tries to read the books herself and I loveany book that challenges her to do that.I hope to see more books byMarjorie Weinman Sharmat.I feel she's a talented author and should beapplauded for herchildren's works. ... Wonderful!
Just as much fun as the first one, we're really loving Nate the Great!! In this volume, we join Nate on his first "night case."What is this case?Well, Nate has been hired by his annoying neighbor Oliver whose garbage keeps getting dumped over in the middle of the night...WHO would want to steal GARBAGE?!Nate the Great is on the case in no time flat with a LONG, LONG list of suspects....including just about every neighborhood animal you can think of.

Critique of Nate the Great and the Boring Beach Bag
I, Melika the excellentreally adore the book Nate the Great and the Boring Beach Bag. This book is abouta boy who solves a mystery of a missing beach bag.In my opinion this is a easy mystery, but you mightthink differently. I don't admire an easy mystery, but I prefered the rest of the book, and I really recommend this book.

Mystery At The Beach
Trying to take a day off and bask at the beach just doesn't work for Nate the Great.As a detective, his detecting services are always on call.This time Oliver, Nate's next door neighbor and the world's greatest pest, has come up with a new mystery.Oliver has lost his beach bag.The beach bag contains Oliver's clothes and shoes, which Oliver will need.Nate signs on for the case at once, and the search begins-with Oliver following closely after, of course.During the course of his investigation, he runs across the usual suspects:Annie and her dog, Fang, and Rosamond, who is running a seaside restaurant. Nate the Great and the sticky case
It was an incredible easyreading book.Nate the Greatis called by his friend to find a missing stamp from his stamp collection.Onthe way he finds some wet clues and finds the stamp in a wacky spot.What I liked about the chapter was that Nate's dog gives him the last clue to solve the mystery.What I didn't like about the story was that the mystery was absolutly dreadful.

Sticky Clues
Claude asks Nate to help him to find the missing stamp from his collection.He used some sticky clues along the way.This was an exciting story because Nate found the stamp in a very surprising place!

Fun to Read! Easy to Start With!

Great Mystery Books for Kids
Even though I love all Nate the Great Books but I like this one the best of all. This kind of situation has happened to me before (I lost my house key one time and I had to have my next door neighbor help me get in my house). But I kind of had the hint that Rosamond had done something with the key from the beginnig of the story. All in all it is a great book.

Good Reading for 3rd Graders

Amir Vetry Critique Of Nate The Great
I read the book Nate The Great Goes Down In The Dumps. This book is a Realistic Fiction book. When I read this book I thought that it was an exelent book, because it had the things that would really happen to a ten year old child like me! It also had alot of details so it was facile to recount to the book,and understand it. This is a Book that I enjoyed and recommend it to anybody within second grade through fith grade.

Nate the Great and the Mushy Valentine

Mushy Valentine
I thought that the book, Nate the Great and The Mushy Valentine was a pretty good book to read. It was about a young boy solving two mysteries on Valentines Day. One for his dog and another for his friend. He thought hard to put all his clues together and fingured them both out. My 5 year old loved this book.
My 5 year old son brought this book home from the library.He got very interested in the story.Since it was our first Nate the Great Mystery, it gave a craving for more.Next we read Nate the Great and the Missing Key.Now we're hooked on these series of books and we own the set.

Nate Really IS Great!
I first picked up a Nate the Great book for my five year-old a few months ago after having been warned off getting him the Junie B. Jones series as there is a lot of negative language in those books (calling people "stupid" and things like that).

Missing:Detective Partner!
Nate the Great is a detective and a guy known for being able to find lost things or solve mysteries.However, in NATE THE GREAT AND THE BIG SNIFF, Nate experiences his most personal mystery of all when Sludge, his dog, detective partner, and best friend, ends up lost in Weinman Brothers, Nate's favorite store.Since no dogs are allowed in the store, Nate has to leave Sludge outside.Nate goes inside to buy a gift for Sludge and has to stand in a really long line.Worried about his doggy partner, Nate goes back to the entrance to check on Sludge and finds that Sludge is gone! It was so cool, I think other kids would like this book. I kind of knew how it was going to turn out at the end. Sludge was my favorite charactor because he can smell very well.
