Great ending!!!!!!!!!
This book was absouluely wonderful and a great ending!!!!!!!! What else can I say??? I loved it! READ IT

A Fitting End!
As I read this, I could tell this was an entirely different chapter in the Baudelaire's lives than we'd previously been exposed to. Lemony Snicket made it rather clear that the questions we wanted answered wouldn't be answered and it would do no good to answer them. Though slightly disappointing, I think we're better off for it. This book drives the message of the entire series home, and is in so many ways an allegory to what we experience every day. I thought this book was more emotional and better written than all of the other books combined, and was pleased with the couple of things we DID find out, even though there are a million other questions left unanswered. To answer these questions would be to ruin this series and the entire point of these books, and though we thirst for answers, the truth is that answers to these questions would be disappointing and more mysterious than what we're left with.

Looking forward to the next one...
There are some very interesting tidbits in this volume that clearly affect how I look at parts of the series and how the final book will turn out.This book made me look forward to the next one in the series.In the meantime I got two books in a new series - Why Some Cats are Rascals.Great reading!.

Collector's item or valuable clues?
If there's anyone on your gift list unlucky enough to own the entire series of unfortunate events, you may wish to inflict further adversity upon them by purchasing this additional volume for their collection.Not so much a book as a mystery contained between hard covers, this most attractively presented publication contains two folders, one with a large two-sided poster filled with clues, and a notebook containing correspondence exchanged between a guy named Lemony Snicket and what seems to be two people named Beatrice Baudelaire, one of whom claims to be a fourth Baudelaire sibling.The letters begin before The Bad Beginning and end sometime after The End.
Uh huh, Foggy Bottom used to refer to the State Dept.
Can this book be used as evidence in a court of law? IMO thats where this book is headed. The lawsuits are about to fly, the schism is expanding and soon there will be a lot of wealthy writers and entertainment stars weeping.

Ooops! She did it again
J.K Rowling has pulled off another stellar Harry Potter. Because the amount of time it takes to complete a 7-part series, I thought she'd run out of steam, but clearly she has not. After seeing what happened with King towards the end of the Dark Towers series, I was afraid another renowned writer might do the same. I was pleasantly disappointed. There is nothing else to say. Great book. She keeps the series rolling perfectly. Some of the goings on (people who've read the story should know what I'm talking about) I believe are front for other plans, and I was not heart broken at the end.
Harry's Daring Quest
Harry Potter and Professor Dumbledore try to research Lord Voldemort's childhood. They search through the pensieve discovering the truth about Lord Voldemort. They realize the rutheless, evil wizard splits his soul into seven pieces by murdering seven innocent people. Then he magicallyhid them into valuable objects, which Harry and Dumbledore set after for. I loved the book because the story line was thrilling and intriguing. The characters were daring, intelligent, humorous, and wise. My favorite character is Harry Potter who is a sixteen year old wizard who's parents died because Voldemort murdered them both. Harry is my favorite character because he is brave and humorous. Some related books to this one are all five of the other Harry Potter books. I think this book ranks number one in comparison to them all.

This book series stinks! And that's flattering.
One star is giving this terrible and uninteresting series a huge compliment. Especially this book, where the plot consists of little but pointless stories of the character's love lives until the end, when there is a quick bit that is actually about Good vs evil. Im a bird
Im a bird.Eldest was a really good book, but the 1st book, Eragon, was much better.Eldest had a lot less action, and it took too much time talking about Eragons studies, and less about anything else about the Varden or Dwarves.The side story about Roran, Eragons cousin, was more exciting.As it got further towards the end, it was much more interesting and had more action, and was easier to read.the end of the book made me want to read the 3rd book because it left many things unanswered, like who the third dragon egg will hatch for.It was an overall great book, but not enough action in it.

Yawn, Yawn, Yawn.....
Well, I picked up Eragon because I heard it was pretty good. I was in the need of an original book, so I figured I would give it a try. It turned out ok. I was impressed with the age of the author, but was also dissapointed on how much of his ideas were not original. Still, there was something fun about a jedi dragon rider.
Creative and inspiring
I was partly prejudiced when I first picked up Eragon, having read about the authors age of only 15 when he wrote the book. I expected something much more amature than what I read.I was amazed how he spun such a wonderful tale, so wonderfully descriptive, exciting, and created an endearing main character that had many flaws, and LOTS of room to grow.Paolini has a lot of natural talent and has only begun to explore his potential.I hope he will continue writing long after this trilogy is over.

A Series of Unfortunate Events
The Books a Series of Unfortunate Events are fun books to read. Even though they have sad things happen in them, I like to read them because they are adventurous and you never know what will happen next. An example of how I never know what will happen next is in the Austere Academy. I couldn't find out what Olaf's plan was until it happened. Lemony Snicket writes the Series of Unfortunate Events. The main characters are Violet, Klaus, Sunny, and Count Olaf. In the books a Series of Unfortunate Events Violet, Klaus, and Sunny's home has burned down killing their parents. Now Count Olaf is trying to steal the children's enormous fortune but luckily he always fails. So, if you are looking for adventurous books to read, The Series of Unfortunate Events is right for you.

A series of Unfortunate Events, by Lemony Snicket, is about 3 orphans living in a mischief life with a tragedy story of bad luck in thier lives. It begins with a story that the Baudelaire orphans, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, that will never forget forever. While these children are at the beach, a friend of there's, Mr. Poe, comes to tell the Unfortunate news, their parent died in a fire. As Mr. Poe found a distance family, he found a strange , cruel, tall Count Olaf. And the Unfortunate begins.
Great Series

Ahem. Has anyone noticed that one of the one-star reviews for this book burns Lemony Snicket and William Shakespeare at the same time? If I was you, L.S., be honored! "Oh, gee, you're categorizing me in the same place as one of the most revered and adored authors of all time?!! I think I'll take that as a compliment!" This book is the second best in the series so far, after The Slippery Slope.

Just Wait For Two More Years!!!
The books are amazing.J.K. Rowling managed to create a magical world that is both appealing to children and adults.The books follow the heroic life of young Harry Potter from age 11.As Harry gets older, the books mature with him.While the first book is very colorful and innocent, books five and six are much darker and emotional, of which love becomes a major theme in the series.
A good value
Our family hadn't yet read all the books, and we were looking for a set. This is a good value. However, with book 7 coming out soon, we are regretting not waiting to get the inevitable 7-book set.

Extraordinary Value
I'm not going to address the quality of the Harry Potter series. After all, if you weren't interested in the plots and storylines, you wouldn't be considering this item. What I will address is the fact that this collection is, hands down, the best value on the first six books of the series you will find, period! (Price at time of writing was $100) I'm a member of several book associations, and even they cannot match it. The books themselves are hardback, with excellent quality paper and high production value. The jackets all show the colorful illustrations of Mary Grandpré, and have raised lettering. The bindings themselves are library quality, and durable, with metallic lettering on the spine. It was a must have for my hardback Fantasy library and collection and, though most of my books for it have been obtained via a SFBC membership, Amazon definitely provided the best value on this one! ... It's a Good buy
It is a nice audio book.It does have it's flaws though.
Brilliant, and well worth the money!
I am not a "Total Ringophile", like some out there, but I have read the books three times and loved them. I lashed out and purchased this 46 CD set as I spend a lot of time on the commute to work. It is brilliant!Each CD has approx 15 "tracks" on it so that if you miss a bit as your mind wanders (as it does in the car..) you can just bounce back one track and hear that bit again, no problems. Rob Inglis does a great job, no question. It has added a new dimension to my experince of Tolkien's masterpiece, and I highly recommend it to all. BRILLIANT !

Ingles does a fantastic job
I did not realize what a wonderful job that Ingles had done in this reading until I began listening to other audio books. Ingles manages to give each character a distinct voice and as you proceed, you recognize immediately who it is that is speaking.

A very good book!
I have been reading books since I was 2 years old and this is one of the best books i have read. It dosn't matter who the auther is or how old he is it just matters if you like the book. I'm 12 now and like I said this book is really, really good. The authur did A good job and that is why it is a new york times best seller!
Eragon the best
Eragon is one of the best fantasy books I've ever read so far.It has all of the qualities of a fantasy book I look for.Compared to Harry Potter it has a great story line with a quick learning character.It has battles, magic, dragons, and monstrous creatures.Christopher Paolini is one of the best authors I've heard of, because he uses great imagery, awesome descriptions, and he keeps you intrigued through the whole book.I recommend this book to any fantasy lover adult, teen, or child.I do understand that this is one of the best accomplishments among someone of young age. So if you love fantasy or you just want a classic in motion take up Eragon.

Not worthy of the hype!
I purchased and read this book just after it first came out to rave reviews and a New York Times Bestseller ranking.I was extremely dissappointed.There is a reason that there are not many well renowned 18 year old authors out there.The writing is poor at best - definitely the work of someone who is just learning the art.The story is entertaining at times, but as many other reviewers have mentioned, it is entirely unoriginal.This book is fine for the younger child but is not in the class of Paul Park's Princess of Roumania, The Golden Compass trilogy or Harry Potter as books that transcend the line between children's and adult literature.I did not read the second book and have no intention of doing so. ... Excellent First Trilogy
The first two books in his "Inheritance" trilogy, Eragon is the story of a young man who finds a dragon's egg, which hatches shortly thereafter. Eragon and the dragon, Saphira, form a very close relationship and embark on an epic battle against evil.
Trilogies!
This is a great set of books, but why not finish a book and then publish it?Trilogies are my worst nightmare!I want to sit and read and FINISH a good book - is that too much to ask?Let me know when the third one is finished and I will buy it then.

Great introduction to chapter books for pre-k age
We actually picked up a four of the Magic Tree House books to give chapter books a try with our 4 year old. He absolutely is enthralled with these. We have already returned to the book store twice for a total of 8 more and I'm sure we will be going back for more.
Son received as a b-day present
When he got the first boxed set for his birthday, he wasn't too enthused by it. Up to that point, him reading on his own was like trying to pull teeth. So I bribed him by saying for every book he read, I would give him a dollar.

This was a gift for my granddaughter.My daughter writes: "Suspenseful . . . interesting.Erin can't wait for each chapter.With other books she falls asleep while I read;with these books she asks me to stop so she doesn't miss anything.We are reading no. 5 'Night of the Ninjas' and recently saw a samari suit in the museum (where Andy Warhol is showing) and there are Samari in this book.As a parent I wish there was a little more history in each book, but I think they are age appropriate."

One of the reviewers wondered why the text was changed at the end of Chapter 12, The Dark Island.I just reviewed both my editions, and they both match the text on the CD.One edition is a Puffin Book, published by Penguin Books (1977) and the other is the First Harper Trophy edition (2000).I wonder why YOUR edition is different?
