Expose kids to other languages
I bought a set of these three bilingual (English and Spanish/French/Japanese) books for my niece, aged three and a half. She's not quite reading yet, but I wanted to expose her to the idea of different languages early.She likes the bold and simple illustrations and the story when it is read to her in English.

I bought the Japanese-English version of this book. The idea was to practice Japanese reading with an easy text. Unfortunately, this is the typical book for the very young so that texts are scarce (and extremelysimple) while bold images cover the best part of each page. Great Ending to the book
The ending to this book was the best part of the book.It seemed to drag a bit in the beginning and almost had two separate themes to the book. (buying and caring for the lizard, the science fair tadpole project) I did like the ending and thought it a great life lesson for all kids.Great read for younger beginning readers.

cute story

Amazing, amazing book!
My son is 7, and autistic, yet he can read.We are trying to fill him with as much information as he will take in, and having books like DK's eye wonder/eye witness series definitely makes that FUN!!!They are informative, and yet keep his attention, and he'll sit reading it over and over!We got this for $4.99 at our book fair, a great deal since he hasn't been able to put it down!Now he wants to be a biologist!That is SO inspiring, considering the journey we've been on in this world called autism!I know this will be tough enough to make it through all 3 of my sons, and the information is relevant and interesting enough to keep them all excited!

Food Obsessed
The Greedy Python and The Very Hungry Caterpillar are my least favorite of the books Carle has illustrated. They are both food obsessed and give mixed messages about over-eating. A great Carle book is Have You Seen My Cat.

Cute for all ages
I have 3 children, ages 5, 3 & 1.My two oldest think The Greedy Python is a funny book.The illustrations are awesome- as all of Eric Carle's work is.The story teaches a good lesson in selfishness and greediness.The greedy python is eating everything in sight and even aftergetting too full to hold anymore he sees one last thing to eat.He windsup gulping down his tail and eventually disappearing.It's a really goodlesson for all children to learn.It's also easy reading.

Great for beginning readers!
Beginning reader in our house really likes this book as he uses the illistrations to "cue" him into the words.There are many subject areas that can be explored as a result of the book, reading, math,science...For an older child who is slower learning to read, this isexcellent as there are multisyllable words and a 'story line' that holdstheir interest. ... Language as music
I cannot believe that this fabulous book is not on the kids' best-seller list. It is an awesome story.
The story has a wonderful fun rythum.When you read the story aloud, you can almout hear the music the animals make.

Great way to expose kids to vocal harmonization!
From the first "Chew-up, Chew-up" to the last "Shh-Boom", this book gets kids involved.They can't wait for the next character to pop in with the line "Did someone sayband?", because they know the next cool sound is coming up. (Thefish's "Pop-Pop-Doo-Wop" is a favorite with four year olds.) Thehidden subtext teaches that it takes all kinds of sounds to make a band -everyone makes their own specal contribution.A nice way to teach aboutharmony, both musical and otherwise - the book teaches without preaching. My two year old was in awe.
I checked out a copy of Frogs and Toads and Tadpoles, Too at our local library.My daughter is 2 and I was afraid at first that it wouldn't keepher attention.The explainations were intelligent but, not beyond hercomprehension.It was perfect.It prompted us to go out on my Mom'sproperty and get her a tadpole so that she can see the whole process firsthand. Great Graphics and Twisty Plot
Famed graphic designer Craig Frazier draws massive but simple geometrical shapes, muscular outlines, and flattened but textured backgrounds that show off Stanley, the protagonist of this book and the earlier "Stanley Goes for a Drive." Frazier chose pleasing shades of computer-generated green for `Lawn,' as opposed to the somewhat ugly, almost sickening brown that predominates in `Drive."As a result, nothing detracts from Frazier's graphic mastery, and he treats the reader to an aesthetic triumph.

This is truly a fun book.Beautifully illustrated.Unique.It challenged my imagination thus:

A memorable friendship
"All Kinds of Friends, Even Green!" is written and photographed by Ellen B. Senisi.The text and photos tell a story about Moses, a disabled boy who gets around in his wheelchair.At school, his class is given an assignment to write about friends.Moses is inspired to write about a very special friend: Zaki, an iguana.Zaki is also disabled, having lost her back toes after a mite infection; Moses has a special affection with her. Great Book!
I really liked this book, and so did my 6 year old son.I have a boy with special needs who is 5, and this author captured the curiousity and excitement of a small child so well, and then revealed the disability of the boy in the book in a very positive manner.My son had fun reading it, and I know that the ideas that were in the background are what I want my son to "get".I would definetely recommend this book.
