Delightful book
My 17 month old loves this book. There is something for him to open on each page and he has learned all the sounds of the animals.This book was recently listed in Parent's magazine as "Our Favorite Baby Books of All Time"and I can see why.

Styles of the Great Masters
This book is a great quick overview of the great masters of art history.The projects are easy enough for more elementary and middle school kids.Only criticism would be more bio on each artist and what their specific contricution to the development of Western art was.

excellent hands-on projects for children...
I was excited about this book before I even opened it, and having read through it and planned several projects for our homeschooled kindergartner and preschooler, I am even more excited!This book covers pretty much every possible art form and gives great background information on the artists represented, without being so much information that it would be boring to a child.The projects are creative and all of them look like great fun.This is one book that I feel was worth the money (so many craft books end up being an "I could have thought of that on my own" experience!).My only disappointment with this book is that the illustrations are other children's artwork and there are no examples of the artists' actual work.However, I am sure we can find all we need to supplement this book just by looking on the internet.All in all, this was a great buy and I am very excited to use this book with my children for several years to come!I give it five stars.

Relaxing Coloring Book
Highly recommend Everyone's Mandala designs.Each one is different enough so I felt a sense of momentum as I colored through the book and complicated enough to keep my interest as well.On the other hand, each design had wide shapes so that I didn't get lost in the details.Coloring overall was relaxing.I'm definitely getting her other volumes.I might get this one again, too, because the designs can be colored in so many different color combinations.Really a treat!

Engaging the Center
I purchased the whole series and look forward to coloring or painting them all.They are deeply engaging, neither too simple nor too complex; calling me into a calm center where hope and healing not only feel possible but just seem to happen.A very thoughtful and creative bonus from the author that I've not seen in other Mandala books is the wide perforated margin at the center binding in every book so you can actually remove and display your favorite mandalas afterwards.This rare feature also makes it especially friendly to those of us who are left-handers!!!

Really nice book!
This is a really nice book.Lots of glossy color photos of star designers add to the enjoyment of reading this book.It's great for little or big girls interested in fashion.I especially liked the story of the little girl who made up a new kind of mitten.She's been very successful with her efforts.It shows that not everyone has to go to design school to be a success in the field.

great book for the price!
I did the vampiress and japanese doll faces from this book on my daughter and friend. We made an errand to our local "clown store" and all the entertainers said how great they were. Those were just 2 of the fun face designs out of the book. The wicked reptile & colorful butterfly faces from this book are also very nice. There are over 40 faces!

Usborne Face Painting
Excellent for any birthday party or special event. Simple enough for the beginner but also interesting full face designs. Great book.

Simply the best!
For ten years, I've been painting faces for carnivals, parties, Halloween - you name it - this book can take rank beginners and allow them to paint very professional looking faces. The instructions are easy to follow,and elaborate on multiple techniques, including sponging and using different brush tips to achieve different effects. Sweet and educational
This is a gentle book, both the words and illustrations, whichguides the reader through the process of making a traditional Navajo rug.Told from the goat's perspective, humor is interwoven with facts. My 5 year old wants to add that the goat ate up some of the flowers the weaver had collected when she wasn't looking.
Kids book?I still love it at 30 years old!
I was raised on this book and it has always been a favorite of mine. The pictures are delightful and the story has stayed with me through the years. I love how Geraldine decides to eat all the yummy plants they were going to use to dye the wool.OOPS!Now I find it is on the school reading list and being used in the classroom! I highly recommend this book as a favorite for children and parents alike.

NOT just for kids at all!
This book can be wonderful for anyone who does embroidery, quilting, or even tattooing! I wish I'd had it when I was making my art quilt with a Dias de los Muertos theme!

This book is ok, but very much a childrens coloring book. As that it is good. But if you want more detailed drawings then look for Maya Designs (Coloring Book) by Wilson G. Turner. Excellent art and lots of it.

More emphasis need on education, being formal or financial
The author, while he does suggest education is important, does not stress it - he suggests advanced education is important only if you are entering into a professional career.(Read the introduction to see what I mean) - You may want to speak to the your children on that, I felt a bit uncomfortable knowing that's what my chilren would be reading.
Still worth reading...offers good teen-friendly advice on achieving a financial headstart & freedom!
Despite the controversy surrounding the author, Robert Kiyosaki, I strongly feel that this particular book is still worth reading by teens, as it offers good teen-friendly advice on achieving financial headstart & freedom.

So much fun!
Ed Emberley is a cottage industry when it comes to drawing and teaching children to draw things like animals, faces, trucks and trains, weirdos, the world and oh, so much more. While these books are directed toward early school-age children, I know many adults who would benefit from and find the books and instructions helpful and fun.
This book keeps kids happy, not frustrated
Some art books are too tough for kids without drawing skills, they can actually make kids cry in frustration with, "I don't get it, I can't do it". I have never had that problem with books from this artist, kids just love these! Ed Emberly has made some wonderful books for kids and grown-ups of any age that have no drawing skills, but want to learn a simple way. His books are the easiest books to get you started if you have no previous drawing skills. He doesn't talk down to you, he doesn't talk at all but uses his step by step method for you to follow. As a result, you can use these books for kids that have language issues. He starts with a step by step illustrated lesson to draw one simple item. First a simple straight line here, then insert a circle then, then another line, step by step along the way and before you know it you have a completed drawing that you can be really proud of. I teach Cub Scouts and this artist makes the perfect book for teaching a class when you are a volunteer yourself that is not an art pro.

Great for HS students, too!
I'm a high school art teacher and I recently saw this book at the local library.I'll soon be ordering it as a resource for my classroom because it's got a lot of good, basic information and an easy-to-understand format that's very similar to the way I introduce drawing techniques to my Art 1 students.I'm impressed!

excellent for adults, too
If you are an adult who never learned fundamentals of drawing, this book is great. It demystifies shading and perspective, in a way that no other book or instructor has been able to get through to me. The exercises are basic and easy to practice, with an economy of words.This book is also perfect for children.

Very good instructions and entertainment
My son is 6 years old and he loves this book.The instructions are very clear, he has no difficulty in following them.He has created dozens of pictures since buying the book and is quite happy to spend hours simply making pictures.He gets a real sense of accomplishment from being able to create the pictures.I highly recomend this book.

Drawing helps writing practice more fun
These books are great.They have many thematic ties to our curriculum.I made them into centers by copying the book and gluing them to a colorful folder and laminating it.I put those in the writing center whenever we were focusing on a certain theme.A great resource for 1-3.

Improves handwriting and basic drawing skills!A++++
This is a wonderful set of books.We are using it as a handwriting practice program (for 1st & 2nd grade) rather than a drawing program, but I'm sure it has applications both ways.
Can't Keep Them On the Shelves!
I am a teacher-librarian and I can't keep these drawing books on the shelves! I am always looking for drawing books and these are perfect for the primary and early elementary age group. The simple instructions and diagrams help the children to produce realistic drawings which are the starting point for a host of creative projects! Teen horse lovers will love this!
I just received this book and started on it right away.I thought this would take forever to do but with a little practice I was doing great. I highly suggest this book for advanced artists and the age of 9 and up.This book offers a variety or horses to draw including close-up pictures.If you know your circles and lines you could do this!Also, you only do good if you start out by reading the instructions in the front of the book.You'll want hints.I did good so you will too!

I am the best horse drawer in my school, but with this book, I can still find details that I never paid any attention to before!
Impressive, but lacking...

Excellent for young budding artists
I got this for my sons 9th Birthday - it give the basics of 3D drawing in a way that children of his age can understand.I would recommend this book to people with children who enjoy drawing and would like to improve the results

Good book to learn how to draw
I'm trying to learn how to draw now because I was afraid to take art classes in high school. This book has made it fun. I really liked the "how to draw cars" by the same author. This book was not as helpful but it is still a good book.

Thank Heavens for Dubosque
With 8 grandchildren under 10 years of age, this book has delighted all of them.We have 3 budding artists and now the others are becoming more creative.The Dubosque books are an answer to parents who are not artistic or don't have the time to answer all their questions.With our schools eliminating many arts programs it will be up to parents to interest their children in the finer things, which begin with the basics.

pretty good replacement for "I Spy" books
There are 19 paintings from the collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art that list things to look for in the painting. This is a neat way to incorporate art with your child while playing. My kids love the "I Spy" books and this is no different. There is a wide range of artwork from ancient Egyptian up to modern day. I only wish the book were longer with more paintings included. ... I have been looking for this book for a while now.Very happy with it.Lots of new ideas.Some repeats, though.

Pretty good book!
Good book! But we need to add a little less glue for the Funny Putty, and we didn't make Kookie Creepies right. We made the Instant Watercolors and they worked great. I think Gooey Gunk would work too. It'sjust like the concoction "oobleck" only with a different name.

Excellent Resource for Educators!
I would recommend this book for elementary classroom teachers.Itprovides outstanding projects and ideas for integrating Art into Language Arts.The author does and excellent job of teaching the elements of art and principles of design in the art projects!I am an Art Teacher and have taught many of the projects in the book.All projects were successful!

Dangerous in the best possible way
This book is dangerous in the best possible way, and my 23 mo daughter latched on immediately.By 'dangerous', I mean celebrating rebellion, and if you have a problem with that, knock off a star.There are so many dimensions to the book, I easily understand why it it so compelling.The use of color, and lack thereof, is well done.The colors, shapes, and images invite discussion.The storyline, top to bottom (both figuratively and literally), is logical, with a delayed-gratification (page turn required) rhyming scheme.Highly recommended.
Fun book
My daughter and I both love the book.The rhyming words help her to remember the next body part and she just thinks it is hilarious!

Could you get any funnier?!
This is one of the funniest books ever!The tune makes it fun to read over and over.You gotta love David Catrow's illustrations. (huge fan of Catrow) My kids, 3 & 6 just giggle everytime we open it up.The ending is precious.This book is a must have for any kid's library.Fabulous gift!!I even make my friends read it.Too Fun and Funny!
