Educational. Look at Art with Children
This is a good book for adults and children. There is a picture on one page and on the next page there is a little bit of information about the picture and some questions to inspire thinking about the picture. A new way of looking at picture books
We just started "looking" at Ms Blizzard's book, and it has already opened a whole new world for my children to discover.The format (full page color pictures accompanied by historical reference and discussion questions) is as enjoyable for the children as it is for adults. As a homeschool mother I appreciate the opportunity it provides to take amoment and wonder what the artist may have had in mind when they createdtheir work.I also thank the author for the corresponding list of openended discussion questions she provides.Take a moment to really look at apicture and let the child interpret it.You may be surprized at how theyrespond.I know I was.It has become especially popular with my 3 yearold who considers the children her friends.We look at it daily and can'twait to add to our collection with another edition of the authors works. Ok for adults
It's rather difficult to grasp what the author is talking about, due to the fact that she does not include very many details on how to put the characters together, or how much clay to use. It's pretty difficult for kids since the projects are very specialized and involve A LOT of clay for anyone who's not a "professional" hobbyist. It's good for getting ideas or checking the basics but I would not recommend this book for the projects or fora novice, like me.

Inspirational pc book for kids
Definitely a book to own for kids pc artist.You may not be able to recplicate 100%, but this book surely gives ideas to kids.

Must read if travelling to Paris
My 9 year old daughter read this book just before we went to Paris and literally dragged me to the Musee d'Orsay to see all works by Edgar Degas. She then read everything else by Anholt and is now chafing at the bit to see works by Picasso. Anholt's books are wonderfully illustrated, show the works of the artists, and know how to appeal to a child's imagination. We are fans.

Laurence Anholt created a wonderful opportunity for youngsters, and adults, to learn about art history. Never before have I ever experienced Degas in this manner. I have given this book to many 5-year olds interested in ballet as well as art. It's become a treasured book for both the child and the parents.

Great Ideas!
I teach 4th and 5th grade art, and on a very tight budget none the less.This book has wonderful ideas that I can either add to or shorten depending on my class level. It has given me great ideas and I am looking forward to trying more.

As a cartoonist and author myself ( of "Let's Toon Caricatures"), I have quite a collection of how to draw books that I've amasses over the years. This book is my all time favorite for drawing great, cartoony animals.

Wonderful book for toddlers!
Our son has had this book since he was about 19 months old, but he's just now becoming really interested in it a year later.This book is fantastic.The rhymes are a little awkward, but they hold a toddlers attention.The best part though, is that it introduces children to the works of one of the great masters!My son can now see a print of a Van Gogh (or tapestry, or whatever medium the piece is recreated in) and he'll run up to it and yell "Van Gogh!"It's a pretty spectacular thing to see, and what a wonderful gift for early learning!

My six month old loves this series
This is the first time I've felt compelled to post a review, but my six month old son absolutely loves these books!The colors are so vibrant and the accompanying rhymes can be read different ways on different days - slowly, quickly, with a rap cadence, with a British accent.They're fun for him, and, by varying the way I read them, they remain fun for me as well!

Excellent Introduction to Art
My daughter is 17 months old and loves this series of books.The artwork is representative of the original work and the words do a great job of telling a story for each picture in a descriptive way without "squashing creativity" for the reader.

Magical Garden inspired my students
Anholt's lovely book about Monet is my favorite of the series about famous artists.He demystifies impressionism and actually inspires children to paint their own "magical gardens"!!

Fine art apprecation was a lost thing among adults let alone children, encouraging an understanding of art at a young age will encorage intrest in art in children and their caregivers alike. Help kids enjoy art and culture while reading a fun story. For young art lovers
On library day at school my daughter usually brings home an art book of some kind.Most of the time it was a book by Lee J. Ames.Marissa really wants to draw well but at 8 doesn't understand that you have to work hard at it.I suggested to her that she get a piece of white paper and trace over the drawings and then color them in.She has really made some beautiful drawings using this book.

Not a good book
I am a horrible but determined artist. I have enjoyed the "How to Draw 50..." series since I was very young. However, this particular book is not helpful: majority of the drawings are far too intricate to follow, most of them are unknown plants and flowers, and it fails to teach something.

Saddened.
I am so disappointed.

If you haven't met me before, I'm Skullface Mcfireball (sfmf for short). I have this book, and I wouldn't reccomend it. It shows how to draw Mario, Yoshi, Luigi, Toad, DK, and more. But no Bowser! Krog is the most silmilar to him, but I can't belive no Bowser! Who is Krog anyway? whatever, see ya peoples!

Nintendo Needs Work onHow To Draw Books.
I found this book very enjoyable, but the books seems to short. I could use more pictures on some of the characters that lacked a body tutorial. Like Wario, the book only teaches you to draw his mug, and I want more than that!Read more

"Draw 50 Dogs" of the terrific Draw 50 series
I must admit that for me it takes a bit of work to draw realistic and 3 dimensional pictures. But using the 'Draw 50' books are so very, very easy to use! Lee J. Ames's drawing method is simple with the step-by-step instructions which are easy to follow. For kids 9 and older, "Draw 50 Dogs" by Lee J. Ames is great for drawing in your scrapbook, onto your notebooks, on cards, etc. Great book
I agree with the other reviews,this is a great book in the series. If you have an interest in drawing or know someone who does,you'll find these books to be very useful. My daughter had brought some home from the library & asked for me to buy them.They go step by step with you,in no time you'll have a wonderful picture!

Good simulated art of other cultures
This is another excellent art book in the "A Williamson Kids Can! Book" series.I have several in the series, all of which have provided me many ideas for my students' art projects.I have used this particular book least however, because the projects are more complicated than the other books, and require more adult intervention, especially with younger children.It's advertised as for ages 4-8, but for children to work more independently, I recommend most projects as suitable for ages 7-13. This is a wonderful book with a range of easy to more complicated crafts for children from 4-8.We have done a number of the projects in here and not only do my children enjoy them, but they get some exposure to culturesoutside of their own. More than a kids' "busybook"
The craft instructions in this book are indeed easy, fun, cheap to do (etc) for kids. But the best part was the discussion in the back of the book on appropriate levels of creative projects for kids of different ages. It clearly outlined what attention span and dexterity level you should expect from kids of different ages. And it had useful advice for adults on how to make the project fun for kids; not just push the child to produce an "aesthetically ideal" finished project. That unanticipated inclusion in the book made it really stand out for me.

Awonderful anthology of craft ideas for kids of all ages!
Kids Create! is an excellent collection that uses various mediums and can apply to children with varied artistic ability.I am a 6th grade art teacher, and I purchased the book after borrowing it from the library. There are too many wonderful ideas to let it slip away!My studentsespecially love Carlson's collection of sculpting projects.

Configure the Center Just How You Need It
I purchased the whole series.At times different forms call for my attention and the additional selection is definitely appreciated.The variety is quite good.They range from simpler to complex, with open spaces which leave room for my own variations.The author's designs seem to create a sacred space in which the individual's own light can shine, even if all they want to do is simply "color" a bit.I would expect this flexibility to make them accessible to people with widely varying skills: children, many disabled persons, the elderly, the imaginative and the gifted artist, as well and most of us who are somewhere in between.Yet they are undemanding so that no one need miss out on the calm center and its healing.

Kids paint on Rocks
It was in great condition and arrived in a timely manner.

Excellent book for beginning or low-skill painters!
This is a great book for people who aren't really very good at painting.Of course the ideas, patterns and methods would work for anyone, but it also shows you step-by-step which color to use, what to draw on the rock, etc.The little rock cars and rock town are darling and the lizards are cute and very realistic.This would be a fun summer project to do with your kids!

How shall we say... NOT JUST FOR KIDS!
This book is perfect for beginning painters of all ages! Painting on Rocks for Kids could be especially useful for teachers, Scout leaders, youth activity directors and anyone who enjoys helping children explore their own emerging creativity.
