5-0 out of 5 stars good for fans
I love Batman the Animated Series. When I heard of this book, I immeadietly bought it. You'll data on every character from the series and what episodes they first appeared in. Some of the pictures are photo shots from the series. Great for Batman fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars batman guide
my three year old son loves this book he wants to know who all the characters are and he loves to tell them back to you. this book has been wonderful!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for kids
I grew up watching this series, and fell in love with Batman because of it.The moment I saw a preview of the pages for Nightwing and Harley Quinn (my favorite characters) I rushed to order this. However, I was a bit disappointed.I'm used to the "Ultimate Guide to ---" Books and was expecting this book to be just as detailed. It is very thin, and not very specific. This book is great for people and kids who know very little about the series and want to get acquainted. For true fans, its not even necessary.Only major characters are covered.I would have been more impressed if a character like Rupert Thorne's accomplice Candace would have gotten a page.I don't see why not, she appeared in multiple episodes. However, in this book, Rupert himself only get a paragraph on the "Other Villians" page.An episode guide would have also been nice. The most you get here is a list of where each major character first appeared.I hope a more detailed book will appear in the future. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars More than just pictures!
I picked up this book, expecting to find essentially a picture book. However, this book is so much more...and it is lovely.5-0 out of 5 stars Eric Carle's books "do special things" read all about them!
Inspiration is the first word that comes to mind after reading about Eric Carle's successful life as an author and illustrator. This book contains information about his childhood, his books, but most important his art. I especially enjoyed reading the section about where he gets his ideas. What is so special about Eric Carle's books? Many people all over the world could answer that question. My favorite answer is from a little boy named Paul, he said: "One reason I like your books is they do special things." ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This book is Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I homeschool my kids and I bought this book for our art lessons. This is such an easy to follow drawing book.My kids are ages 5,7 & 10.All 3 are finding it easy to follow and their drawings are so good.I like to do the pictures myself.I like how the next step of the drawing is in a different color, it makes it so much easier. My 7 yr old even sat down with the book by herself and drew a picture without any help, and it turned out really nice.Hope this helps.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow - how fun is this ?!?!?!
Bought this for my 5 YO daughter - it gave her incentive to practice her printing - she wasn't allowed to attemp the drawing part until the writing part was finished.
5-0 out of 5 stars We all love this book!
My girls, 8 and 4, love this book.I am amazed at how well their drawings come out.Not only are their drawings fantastic but the older girl utilizes the writing exercises and thinks they are fun - unlike other writing exercises.

4-0 out of 5 stars history as cruel as people
a remarkable work israel bernbaum has produced by this book. after having escaped the warsaw ghetto, he fled to the sowiet union and later to paris and in the end went to the usa, he found the courage and the personality to describe the horror and the unbelievable pain in simple words and verystrong pictures. this book, addressed to his children turns out to be anessential for all children anywhere in the world. As a very personal viewat the fate of the tremendous number of jewish people suffering, fightingand dying in the warsaw ghetto, he still ends up without hatred. instead heis pleading for respect against every person regardless of nationality, race, colour or religion. small wonder former president of germany, richardvon weizscker, expressed utmost respect for the book to isarel bernbaum.the book was awarded the german youth book price of the year 1995.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars From sixth-grade to adulthood - the cartoons continue to flow.
Way back in the 80's I used to grab this book from our small, quaint library at Steeple Valley Middle School. I renewed the book frequently and would have a mild heart attack when it wasn't available in the library for me to check out.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best way to spend a rainy afternoon
I spent hours creating entire worlds based on these books. They are a wonderful introduction to basic drawing skills and are FUN!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids learn the easy way to draw, without the tears!

5-0 out of 5 stars Introduce Your Kids to Art - Great Book!
As a mom of a preschooler (and baby), I'm always looking for ways to expose my 3-year-old son to great art without boring him, and this book is perfect! I've bought other art-related kids books, and they were not captivating like this one is. The text has gentle rhyme, and my son really got into the different paintings. The "Biographical Notes" section has more information on the artists if you've forgotten your college Art History (like me!), and my son found it interesting, too. I really liked the message at the end of the book, "...And nobody sees the world like you." I plan on making this book my new gift for everyone -- for new babies, for my son's friends' birthday gifts, holidays, etc. It would be great for kids of all ages, really. You will love this book! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Halloween Fun
All of Emberley's books are wonderful. The Big Orange Drawing book specializes in things that are orange so a lot of it is Halloween themed. I loved working through these books as a child and still have some of the Halloween decorations I made from this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars learn to draw the easy way
This book is from a series of 4 books from Emberly are the easiest books on drawing there are, period. Anyone young or old can learn to draw some great critters and vehicles from these books. ANYONE! These are a great first step. All of his Big Color books are great, (They are a series, each named after a color). Famous for the easy way it shows you how to draw step by step, what appears to be a complex Haunted House, but it is simple when you do it his way. This book includes a number of fun ideas including robots, tiger, military ships, Halloween holiday drawings, and more. He even shows you how to make yours unique rather than a copy of his drawings. You can be the doodle hero of your classroom or office after using this book. He does it simply using very simple steps, lines, and basic shapes to start you off. My favorite in the series would be the Purple Book, because I am partial to the pirate ship instructions.5-0 out of 5 stars ~*~ Ed Emberley is the man ~*~
I am a 21 year-old artist. I forgot all about Ed Emberley until a couple of weeks ago. Emberley was my first artistic inspiration and I developed an interest in art through the direction of his variety of juvenile instructional books. I highly recommend these books to any children who express an interest in art. His series of books are EXTREMELY simply to understand and children at any age can grasp his artistic expertise. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Painfully truthful depiction of adolescence for misfits.
One of the best things about this novel is the strength "Fanboy" shows in the midst of what is a pretty miserable life. Despite his loneliness, the viciousness of the school system, and the indifference of his parents, he continues to spend hours a day studying to someday get a college scholarship, as well as working on his own graphic novel.
4-0 out of 5 stars Geek and Freak
This is the second novel I've read in the last several months in which the protagonist is a precociously clever young teenage boy whose main outlet is the secret creation of a comic book/graphic novel. Evan Kuhlman's "Wolf Boy" is an excellent --sometimes painful, sometimes funny -- portrait of a 13-year-old whose big brother has died and whose parents are drifting apart. Here, the titular "Fanboy" is a 15-year-old whose parents are already divorced and has exactly one friend. He's kind of a classic sophomore smart geek loner -- the kind one could well imagine going TCM on everyone if he weren't too smart for that (although he does fantasize about just such a scenario and keeps a list of people he's like to see dead).

This book takes you line by line through drawing cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Some are relatively simple, others complex. It is not perhaps an excellent way to learn to draw, but it will help you get a feelfor drawing. It also has good explanations for the quartered wheeltechnique of circles. All in all a pretty good buy for the price-if cars, trucks, and motorcycles are what you want to draw. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific books about art for kids
I often have looked for kid-oriented books about art and artists, and usually end up putting them back on the shelf. This series by Mike Venezia was a hit with me (an artist)AND my grandchildren. They're witty but not cutesy, the information in them is actually well and interestingly explained in language a child can understand, and I enjoyed reading them myself!

5-0 out of 5 stars I used to read the series in elementary school...
Mike Venezia's books on the greatest artists of all time are off the chain! He make his books more interesting for kids under 10.This one about Italian Renaissance artist Di Vinci is probably one of his famous ones. (Since Di Vinci is famous for his painting called the "Mona Lisa" 1503-1506).This book contains famous paintings (some with details) from Di Vinci including the deteriation of the tempera "The Last Supper" (1498), from the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. Each book includes back cover illustration of Venezia. His books are small steps to learn about each artist. The series also includes Venezia's comic illustrations. In high school art history, the reader will learn more detail about the artists that the author couldn't tell you (like I did).

Absolutely one of the best how-to, interactive books I've ever had the pleasure of working through - and I'm not exactly artistically gifted.Carmen Lomas Garza has compiled a series of papel picado/cut-paper art projects with excellent instructions on folds and cuts, the elements ofdesign, and the tools and materials needed to make successful papel picadobanderitas/banners.Strong on helpful hints and technique, this bookallows you to learn as you go through so that you can add real variety toany cut-paper project whether it be the simpliest or the most complex.Mysister and I got together a small group - 3 adults & 2 youngsters - andtotally enjoyed creating several papel picado projects.Hands down, TheFan, was the overwhelming favorite of our little group of novice banderitamakers.Filled with 8 great scissor projects and several challengingX-acto knife picados, Making Magic Windows is creative, interactive fun forthe whole family!Explore it for yourself. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as others
I have been a fan of Mr. Sciescka [sic] and Mr. Smith since I discovered their "The True Story of The Three Little Pigs by A. Wolf" about ten (or more) years ago. Their "Stinky Cheese Man" and "Math Curse" and "Science Curse" are wonderful.I find their "Frog Prince" and this book to be a lesser effort.
5-0 out of 5 stars What is art?
What is art? people have been trying to figure this out for centuries.this book introduces the eternal question to children in a fun, silly way, as well as different genres of art and the hilarious pompousness of art critics.the innocent hero just wants to find his friend Art, but everyone keeps showing him new room in the museum.children will appriciate the collage of sparse illustrations and famous art works, as well as the implied commentary about the innocence of children and the silliness of grown-ups.

Ordered this series 12-10-2006 using a gift certificate. As of 6-1-2006 this book still has not been processed or shipped. The book may be awesome as the reviews state, but after 5 months of contacting Amazon and waiting for the shipment, I forfeited the remainder of the gift certificate and cancelled the order for this book. What a disappointment!Good books offered, but terrible service and poor delivery on Amazon's part.I do not plan to purchase through Amazon again.

4-0 out of 5 stars art lesson
Henry Hammer is the owner of the city's auction house. The night beforebig art sale he learns that some of the paintings are fakes! The reader of this book will have to try and solve the crime by looking closely at the pictures are finding the fakes!
5-0 out of 5 stars Art and Much More
For those who enjoyed Where's Waldo and other "look and find" puzzles, this book takes it a notch higher. On the eve of an art auction, the auction house receives a tip that 16 of the paintings are forgeries. The reader is invited to view the paintings and compare them with the originals to determine the fakes, which gang of forgers are the culprits, and how much money was paid out to the forgers. You can spend hours looking for the mistakes in the paintings and it is enjoyable (and addictive)! For children, and adults, who enjoy art and/or picture puzzles, this is an ideal gift.

2-0 out of 5 stars Really Disappointed
I ordered this book from Amazon but when I received it, found that all the stickers had already been removed from the page and stuck all over the book.By the time I discovered this, I had already thrown out my receipt or else I would have returned it.Obviously Amazon sent me a used book that had been returned by another customer. My daughter was very disappointed that the stickers had already been used. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, interesting art!!
My 8 year old daughter received this as a Christmas gift five months ago, and it is wonderful! It's challenging but attainable drawing. Too often, art books are WAY too "kiddy" and cartoony with too little flavor, or way too complicated and mature. This is great for my daughter- it's neither *kiddy* nor too mature. She is a self-motivated artist, and I have seen a definite improvement in her skill from her trying to emulate the style and forms in this book.
1-0 out of 5 stars Not anime
First of all it should be titled "Kids draw Manga" not "Kids draw Anime" because Anime and Manga are different and what this book teaches is considered as manga but anyway this wouldn't even be considered manga or anime because it's just way to bad and crappy. I mean don't even waste your time or money with this book, better yet go find it at your local library. I love to draw manga and anime and when I flipped through this book me and my friends, we were pissed off because it's an embarrassment. So not beginners or anyone above that. This is mainly for kids under the age of 7 or something.

2-0 out of 5 stars anime?!
I just to a glips this book and I look at it andthought "anime?!" the answer was no. It was to cartoony.Yes it's a could book to draw cartoons but not anime. For instance look at Salior moon, Rayearth or Yu-gi-oh then look at this book do the look a like? If you want to learn real anime don't get this book you could get better ones for less. THIS IS A NOTE IF YOUR THINKING ABOUT GETTING ANY OF HIS MANGA MANIA BOOKS when you see the great art on the front it isn't his he hires people to do a whole chunk of the book and the front and back of the book for him then like only a small amount is his work and on the front of the book it says the book was by him. What did he do besides put no-anime charaters in it?! That's what I'm still trying to find out.
