5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!
My kids and I love "Scribbles". We also purchased "Doodles" at the same time. The drawings are fun and my kids are always entertained and challenged...great for car trips or anywhere you and your kids are stuck sitting around waiting.
5-0 out of 5 stars Scribbles
My son is 4 and really loves this book.I initially bought it for use in the car on long trips but it was too heavy for him to hold and color in his lap.He loves using it at home on the table.

5-0 out of 5 stars the most amazing coloring book ever
this book is truly incredible. it really allows the child to be completely creative and develop outside of the box thinking. i highly recommend this unique coloring/activity book. yes, it is a little pricey and 19 dollars, but well worth every masterpiece they create in it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Budding fashion designers will love it!
This is an excellent book that my 12 year old daughter, and ALL her friends have truly enjoyed. The book comes with stencils for outfits. It also comes with patterned paper to use for the outfits. It has a great selection of paper. The paper is similar to scrapbook paper but seems specially designed for the small outfits as the patterns on the paper go well with small outfits. Finally, it has some wire hangers - sized to fit the outfits. The girls have had hours of fun with this book.My daughter glues all the outfits into a notebook, and the friend who designed it "signs" the page.My only wish is that there was an address or phone number where you could order additional paper packs. While Klutz is generous when they give you the paper, my kids are using it a LOT!Her 8 year old sister enjoys it too.It is suitable for any age that is very good with scissors. The outfits are quite small.I plan to purchase some of these to use as birthday gifts to have on hand. This is one of the best activity books we've purchased.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for kids and adults!
I bought this book as a activity to share with my neice who is 8.We both loved it.The book is full of inspiration and helpful tips like how to use your finished creations and also how to use scissors more accurately and how to glue without making a mess. The papers and accents they supply are really nice and the fashion stencils are perfectly engineered. It comes with everything you need except the scissors.I enjoyed it so much that I bought another copy for myself and for some of my crafty friends who love fashion.I really think this is a great craft book and I've recommended it to many friends. The Klutz products are always clever but this one is really special. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource!
I have the task of planning crafts for a Wednesday night children's program.I love doing the craft, but sometimes have a hard time finding craft that work well. This book is a wonderful resource!Every craft has a drawing of the craft and some steps envolved. All patterns are included and the book is reproducibe. It is divided into two main sections: crafts for prekindergarten-kindergarten, and crafts for 1-6 graders. However, all craft seem fun and interesting. There are craft for many stories of the Bible, and sometimes 3 or 4!I am looking forward to trying all of the crafts! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Earth Science teachers!
I teach 6th grade and one of the things we learn about is rocks.I bought this book based on the reviews, but after reading it I felt compelled to write one too.I try to get my students excited about rock collecting. This book is so simple, yet so inspiring. It begins by saying "I'm sorry for kids who only have tricycles, bicycles, horses, elephants, goldfish, three-room playhouses, fire engines, wind-up dragons and things like that - if they don't have a rock for a friend."It then goes on to list 10 simple rules for finding your rock...not just any rock.A rock that you will keep forever. The rules include where to find your rock and remember "You should choose your rock when everything is quiet.Don't let dogs bark at you or bees buzz at you."The book concedes, "Don't get a rock that is too big. You'll always be sorry. It won't fit in your right hand and it won't fit in your pocket.A rock as big as an apple is too big.A rock as big as a horse is MUCH too big."This is the perfect book to get your rock collectors started and excited about geology.

4-0 out of 5 stars enjoyable lesson and artwork
Under the guise of giving ten rules for choosing one's "special rock", the author advises kids (and adults who read to them), to connect with nature and to act with deliberation. The line drawings are muted in color yet evocative and filled with imagination, and will be of interest to kids who have seen only traditional artwork.

4-0 out of 5 stars great book for the price!
I did the vampiress and japanese doll faces from this book on my daughter and friend. We made an errand to our local "clown store" and all the entertainers said how great they were. Those were just 2 of the fun face designs out of the book. The wicked reptile & colorful butterfly faces from this book are also very nice. There are over 40 faces!

4-0 out of 5 stars Usborne Face Painting
Excellent for any birthday party or special event. Simple enough for the beginner but also interesting full face designs. Great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best!
For ten years, I've been painting faces for carnivals, parties, Halloween - you name it - this book can take rank beginners and allow them to paint very professional looking faces. The instructions are easy to follow, and elaborate on multiple techniques, including sponging and using different brush tips to achieve different effects. I highly recommend it - a word of caution- use only high quality face paints as they cover and blend better than the cheapos! Enjoy! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The coolest planes you can make!!
I bought this for my 6 yr old son who was always asking me to make my one and only paper airplane for him. Than he I taught him how to do it himself.BUT, this book has so many cool planes and they all fly and fly really WELL too!!My son figured out every single airplane from the terrific and easy to follow directions. After he mastered the planes with reg. paper, he made them all with the awesome printed papers in the back of the book, and he saved them all.He is almost 8 now and he still likes to make paper airplanes that he learned from this book, and HE makes them for HIS friends now.Very cool book, very nice and easy instructions, great pictures and plenty of cool papers to fold into planes. If your child is interested at all in paper airplanes this is a great gift idea...heck you too may learn a few tricks!! :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars great for children at any age

5-0 out of 5 stars Useful and simple
My 8 year old son spent about 40 minutes with this book and the next day he and his best friend were using the book's concepts to invent good resposes to insults. That's what I call practical.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Speech Therapist's Review
This book is terrific for kids who have a difficult time understanding that they can answer back peers who tease. It allows them to grasp the concept that kids do tease, and they can be empowered to choose a technque such as "Play the Game" to respond.I roleplay these scenarios with my patients so that they can use the right tone of voice and body language. They enjoy it, and there is buy-in for practice.

1-0 out of 5 stars Totally not connected to the real world kids today are stuck with
"Teasers and meanies" don't exist anymore, if they ever did. And "bullies" are going to have a lot of fun with your child if you are naive enough to give a 4th - 7th grader this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Naturecrafts ohhh the endless possibilities
I am using this book this fall with my preschoolers. After reading the book we will go for a nature walk and then will us the leaves and such found to make their own creatures, which we will turn into placemats to use at snack time. This is a great book and their are so many ways you can use this in the classroom.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent combination of art and science.
I am a teacher who has used Look What I Did With a Leaf during my science study of trees. The children collected leaves from the school campus, sorted them, and talked about their purpose as a part of the tree.Thechildren then used their leaves to create leaf creatures which they used tomake leaf print t-shirts.This book was a hit with the children andcertainly served us well by getting their creative juices flowing.

2-0 out of 5 stars I doubt a 4-year-old would be able to read this.
This is probably a good paper airplane book, but I'm assuming that the reviewers here who have small children are largely reading the book themselves and then showing their kids how to do it, or even just making the planes for the kids.
5-0 out of 5 stars First Place in Science Fair (for first-graders)
Our seven-year-old boy loves to make these paper airplanes at his desk in his room. The book has so many styles, there are plenty to share with his little sister and brother. He can easily reconstruct the styles in the book on regular sheets of paper.

Editorial Review

Jewel and Gem Goop. Make-it-Yourself Stickers. Tornado in a Bottle. Funny Putty. Fruity Lip Gloss. Magic Muck. Snow Globe. Scratch& Sniff Watercolors. Believe it or not, it's possible--easy, infact!--to make every one of these "wacky, wild, and crazy concoctions" (and 57 more) using common household ingredients. John E. Thomas and Danita Pagel have pulled together the cream of the crop of potions, clays, and all-around weird swills for the pleasure of children and scientists of all ages. Why not introduce the very youngest artist of the house tothe world of art with Puddin' Paint? Is there a geologist in the house?Make an Instant Volcano--begins with a fizz, then erupts in a bubblingflow of lava. Time for a bath? Try Bathtub Finger Paints--bathers andthe tub will get clean at the same time! These truly amazingconcoctions are not mess-free, but they guarantee hours of absorbed, lively, creative fun, and inspiration for a lifetime of imaginativeendeavors. Brief scientific explanations would have been a welcomeaddition, but maybe young readers will be motivated to explore thechemical, physical, and geological origins of these experiments ontheir own. Adult supervision is recommended for all projects. (Ages 5and older) Read more

I have been looking for this book for a while now.Very happy with it.Lots of new ideas. Some repeats, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good book!
Good book! But we need to add a little less glue for the Funny Putty, and we didn't make Kookie Creepies right. We made the Instant Watercolors and they worked great. I think Gooey Gunk would work too. It'sjust like the concoction "oobleck" only with a different name.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Skill Builder
I recommend this book for anyone who would like to help their child develop pencil skills.Do not worry if your child does not immediately excel with this book, just remember all children develop differently and reach the point where they can follow instructions and do workbook skills at different times.Hold off for a while if needed and re-introduce once in a while until the child is ready.Once the child is ready - you will be surprised how interested in the book they become and how quickly their skills improve.I advise following the workbook instructions that you not let the child do more than 2 pages per session because if they are left wanted to do more they will eagerly come back to it the next time.
5-0 out of 5 stars the perfect intro to pre-writing
Great book, I bought it for my son at 2 1/2 and he Loved it.It really helped him learn to hold a pencil and develop his motor skills, most importantly it kept him enthused about it.Great quality book, thick pages nice pictures to keep little ones interested.I'd let him do 2 or 3 pages, but if it was up to him he'd do the whole book at one time.I just hope I can keep his enthusiasm for learning at this level: ) He's now graduated to uppercase letters, I can see that 'my first book of tracing' helped him with his letters.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful quality - builds a great foundation
I looked at many workbooks in the book store before settling on this one, and I'm glad I did!It starts out with basics - connecting pictures and drawing straight lines horizontally and vertically - using very cute, clear graphics. It then progresses to diagonal lines, curved lines, zig zags, more complex curves, lines that cross over each other, etc.In this way, it gradually builds writing skills in a way that is fun for children.I also love that the paper is thick and high quality, the colors are vibrant, and the accompanying pictures are detailed and well-done.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not for Left - Handed People!
If your left - handed this book is NOT for you. I thought a lot of the projects were to advanced for beginners.

2-0 out of 5 stars the knitting/purling method is overly complicated
I'm surprised that no-one has commented on the overly complicated knitting/purling method used in this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars An art educators delight.
Learning Through Art is a wonderful teacher tool to expose students to art and artists through fun filled reading, writing, and observational activities. Many students have never visited or explored a museum. Learning Through Art gives students a feeling they have been able to visit a museum to discover and learn about art, art history, and art of many cultures. I share this book with students at the beginning of every school year and they love the activities. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and fun
This is a fun gift for a young Harry Potter or Wizardology fan. My 7 year old is enjoying the book immensely. Some parents might be worried about a "pagan" plaything like a wand, but most kids will simply have fun with the kit and learn a little something along the way. Although the "information" in the book is fictional, this is quite an erudite book, and parents who want their children to know something of world history may find this book a great starting point. I particularly enjoyed the reference to the "High Council of Aratta", and gave my son a lecture on Aratta in Sumerian literature, which he listened to with more patience that usual....
5-0 out of 5 stars Fun pagan primer for children
I looked through this book at my daughter's school book fair and decided in no time that it was definitely a keeper. The book is in the "tradition" of the -Ology books (Wizardology, Dragonology, etc.) with its paper foldouts, inset artifacts, and lavish illustrations. What I like most about it is that it approaches the topic of personal connectedness to the Earth. The section "Harnessing the Energy of Nature" provides a wonderful foldout of the constellations, discusses the phases of the moon and animal totems, and details the properties of certain crystals. Because I am trying to incorporate more pagan elements into my family traditions, I thought this was a great way to reinforce some of these things with my 8yo daughter. Something on her level, that appeals to her sense of fun and imagination.

the book is not for professional puppet makers.
5-0 out of 5 stars greatideas
lots of different puppet ideas. They are not too difficult, great to make with kids.

2-0 out of 5 stars Arts And Crafts Time!
Although well put together, this book is very much on an elementary school level. It would be great for teachers but not if you are interested in designing, making, and performing professional level puppets. Cute little book, but NOT 'The World's Most Incredible Puppet Making Book Ever'. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, realistic art projects for toddlers and preschoolers
I have a three-year old daughter with whom I wanted to explore arts and crafts. I looked at many different arts and crafts books before choosing this one to buy. Many other books that I looked at had projects that had complicated instructions or used materials that were expensive. I needed a book that I could pull off the bookshelf, open up, and pick a suitable art project quickly. Little Hands has realistic projects- by that, I mean projects that are meaningful, uncomplicated, and use basic materials that you're likely to have around the house.

5-0 out of 5 stars WORTH EVERY PENNY !
This book had everything I was looking for & more for my four year old. There are So many projects for different levels, with simple instructions.I was delighted to see some projects that I did long ago when I was a child, like paper dolls holding hands, paper snow flakes & sock puppets. The list goes on & on... :) ...
