very informartive!
This book contains allot of basic information on draping. The instructions are thorough and are acompanied by visuals, for extra comprehension. It also has a section dedicated to draping knits, a real plus! My understanding of the draping method, and therefore my skill, has improved on account of this book.

Exactly what you need to know
I studied at FIT in NY, and this was required reading for my first draping course.It seems that a careful read of this book alone could have taught me what I needed to know.It takes practice, but boy, if you want perfect results, follow this book to the letter and it will get you there!

Budding fashion designers will love it!
This is an excellent book that my 12 year old daughter, and ALL her friends have truly enjoyed.The book comes with stencils for outfits.It also comes with patterned paper to use for the outfits.It has a great selection of paper.The paper is similar to scrapbook paper but seems specially designed for the small outfits as the patterns on the paper go well with small outfits.Finally, it has some wire hangers - sized to fit the outfits.The girls have had hours of fun with this book.My daughter glues all the outfits into a notebook, and the friend who designed it "signs" the page.My only wish is that there was an address or phone number where you could order additional paper packs.While Klutz is generous when they give you the paper, my kids are using it a LOT!Her 8 year old sister enjoys it too.It is suitable for any age that is very good with scissors.The outfits are quite small.I plan to purchase some of these to use as birthday gifts to have on hand.This is one of the best activity books we've purchased.

Great for kids and adults!
I bought this book as a activity to share with my neice who is 8.We both loved it.The book is full of inspiration and helpful tips like how to use your finished creations and also how to use scissors more accurately and how to glue without making a mess.The papers and accents they supply are really nice and the fashion stencils are perfectly engineered.It comes with everything you need except the scissors.I enjoyed it so much that I bought another copy for myself and for some of my crafty friends who love fashion.I really think this is a great craft book and I've recommended it to many friends.The Klutz products are always clever but this one is really special. ... Really nice book!
This is a really nice book.Lots of glossy color photos of star designers add to the enjoyment of reading this book.It's great for little or big girls interested in fashion.I especially liked the story of the little girl who made up a new kind of mitten.She's been very successful with her efforts.It shows that not everyone has to go to design school to be a success in the field.

Excellent insight for Seamstress
I had been searching through all of the sewing books I could find to learn more about the nature of fabric and fibers...and everything I could possibly want to know was here, and more. Absolutely fascinating. It is a textbook, but was written clearly enough that anyone with an interest in the area can easily understand it. I've been teaching classes to costumers and members of the local American Sewing Guild, who are equally impressed with the knowledge we got from this book.

Fabulous Freaks
Another amazing collection of eye candy fashion. I love the full page color photos and the brief descriptions. It is interesting to see how a sub-culture of fashion in itself fractures off into seperate catagories. Like L.O.L.A., european punk, goth, hippie, couture, et cetera. All amazingly creative free spirits. This is a great buy if you like cultures and community, fashion design, or interesting coffee table conversation starters. I love the book "fruits" as well, they are like twins, something to be kept together. I would love to see what changes in style another ten years has brought to Japan. Hopefully I'll run accross that book next. The only irksome bit was the bubblegum text color. It was hard to read at times. And my eyes aren't too bad.

Every child WILL love to create and draw!
As a child who loved to draw - but was all "thumbs" in drawing - Emberley's Thumbprintbook was an amazing gift.Suddenly, I could duplicate the art in a drawing book and then go on to create my own shapes and creations.As I got older, I moved onto his other wonderful art books (such as Red, Puple, Orange, Green), but my thumbprints always remained my favorite. Thumbodies are the best!
This is one of the most simple and entertaining art books to be found for the younger set, or those who just love to doodle. I am fourteen, and I still enjoy pulling this book out to create thumbprint pictures with my siblings. All you need is an ink pad, some paper, and a pen to begin making the fun characters Mr. Emberley presents here, leaving the kitchen table much cleaner than it would be after finger painting. And since the pictures consist of your thumbprint and a few simple lines and dots, children can begin trying to make these as soon as they are able to grasp a pencil. FOR ANY CHILD AFRAID OF ART.....
For any child afraid he or she cant draw well.... just buy them this book, and watch how much pride they have in what they can accomplish. This book is very basic and shows little characters you can make with a thumbprint (or circle or blob) but dont let your "limited adult imagination" think that is just a few things... there are TONS of things you can draw!!!!!! and they are very easy. I think this is a perfect first drawing book...or for a child who is already convinced that "I cant draw" i hear kids say that and i think its so sad.... this book is really a positive thing :) ... Great Book!
I really enjoyed this book. Its an interesting read about the effect of WWII on world fashion and also a helpful resorce guide to fashion and trends of the era. I must for any vintage clothing collector or swing kid!

An excellent and outstanding source of concise information
I borrowed this book along with the other volumes (1940 to 1970 )from my library.This was exactly what I need for my assignment of different body types and the power of non verbal communication. It was very interestingand would recommend buying. This book was outstanding!

Good for adults too!

disappointing
I was disappointed with this book. Part of the problem may be that I didn't realize that the book only applies to felted wool sweaters; none of the ideas presented in the book can be used for another other type of sweater. Additionally, there are very few patterns or specifics in the book; it consists mainly of photographs of projects that others have done.

Not exactly what I was expecting.
A decent book. Very short. But if your looking for details on how to take a sweater apart, that is not what this book is about. This book is about how to use recycled material to make new, but goes into very little detail on how to take apart a sweater.
So Much Better Than Described!
I ordered this book because it looked interesting....well, it is!It is a wonderful idea book.It gives minimal instructions for creating garments out of found clothing (sweaters), but it is jam-packed with the neatest ideas and everything is doable with minimum skills.What is especially nice is that the photographs, writers, models are not from the U.S.It is always nice to really get a look into the style of people from different countries.Excellent book and "search" offered by amazon does not highlight the best parts.Do not go by the minimal pages that are offered as a sneak peek. ... An excellent book for all ages
I just got a copy of this book, and I was totally impressed by it.The pictures in the book are amazing, of the highest quality, and they are taken with an excellent eye.The book contains snapshots from shoes aroundthe world, showing the people that wear them and what they do when theywear them.Many cultures and peoples are represented here, and it made mewant to go out and see these places!Definitely a must have book for everychild.
