5-0 out of 5 stars my daughters and I really enjoy this book!
We`ve had this book for over 3 years now, and my 5 year old daughter, loves to look at it over and over again, and beleive me, everytime we read it, a different story develops or we discover something we had`t seen before. Now I have started reading it with my 2 year old, and she too is facinated by it, it has helped her with her vocabulary.

5-0 out of 5 stars Zoom
WOW.This is a very unique, wordless picture book that can be used for presenting the strategy of teaching students how to include details in writing by expanding ideas.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Bigger Picture
The friend who shared this book with me had received it from a family member who bequeathed it to her as she lay dying of cancer. It is a very beautiful and visual way of internalizing the concept that our lives and everything that happens to us and that we see around us is part of a bigger picture. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!
My kids and I love "Scribbles". We also purchased "Doodles" at the same time. The drawings are fun and my kids are always entertained and challenged...great for car trips or anywhere you and your kids are stuck sitting around waiting.
5-0 out of 5 stars Scribbles
My son is 4 and really loves this book.I initially bought it for use in the car on long trips but it was too heavy for him to hold and color in his lap.He loves using it at home on the table.

5-0 out of 5 stars the most amazing coloring book ever
this book is truly incredible. it really allows the child to be completely creative and develop outside of the box thinking. i highly recommend this unique coloring/activity book. yes, it is a little pricey and 19 dollars, but well worth every masterpiece they create in it. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not near as good as "Zoom"
If you have never seen any books by this author before then I would recommend purchasing "Zoom".It's amazing which made me slightly disappointed with this one.I was hoping it would be just as good as the first but it was harder to follow and wasn't as fun to look at.I wish I had not bought it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than Zoom
Once again Istvan Banyai takes your perception on a roller coaster ride. This amazing sequel is even better than Zoom. Thoroughly enjoyable and could also be used as part of a motivational speech on seeing things as they are and aren't. Perception isn't always reality.

4-0 out of 5 stars Second generation of Zoom
I bought this book at the same time as I bought Zoom. Both are great books for getting people to think outside the box, but for some reason, I still like the original Zoom best.Still a good book though. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the WOWWEE factor............
Everyone says WOW when I show them this book!
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book!
I took my 1 year old to a bookstore to get her some books and music. The title "One Red Dot" caught my attention and imagine my amazement when I opened the book! I showed it to my daughter, she got so excited she tried to touch the pop up shapes. Sadly, some child loved the book so much that they tore up some of the pop ups and there weren't any more copies available at the store. As soon as I put it back on the shelf, my daughter started howling because she wanted it and she wouldnt stop screaming until we got to the car! Needless to say, I am going to order this book for her!

5-0 out of 5 stars One Red Dot

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction to Art for Kids
I purchased this book for my kids who were 6 and 10 at the time.I was pleasantly surprised by the scope and variety of art covered in this book.Several well-chosen (nothing gory or disturbing to children) pieces of art are presented in nice, full color reproductions. The authors then point out various interesting things about the piece and ask fun questions about it.All of this serves to help children not just "look" at art, but to enjoy it and appreciate it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!!
I bought this book for my grandchildren, a boy and a girl ages 2 1/2 and 5.Not only are they thrilled with it, their parents are enchanted. This book should be read by everyone! It's a marvelous primer and guide to the world of art, with pictures of some of the world's most famous art treasures and amazingly interesting explanations of why these particular pieces have endured. If you want your children or grandchildren to learn about what makes art relevant, this is the book for them!It should be sold in every art museum in the world.
5-0 out of 5 stars We LOVE this book!
I was slightly reluctant at first to purchase this book - I thought it might not be one of our son's favorites at bedtime (4 1/2 years old). (He's your typical boy - loves books about cars, tractors, dump trucks, etc) Boy, was I wrong! The first night we sat down to read it, we both had a blast! This book does such a nice job of explaining art to children, in terms that he understands, that he was excited about reading it the next night. We went through the book the first time just flipping pages to look at the artwork, and stopping to read the details of the ones he found interesting at first. It was fun for me as a parent to learn what he finds interesting in art.I would recommend this book 100%! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Everyone loves this!
I bought this for my 5 year old son, because he is definitely a "color outside the lines" kid. When he started Kindergarten his teacher told me that he doesn't color in the lines (well, we never made him, we love his free spirit coloring). Anyway, he has never liked your traditional coloring books and I thought these might be a good way to help him color in the lines but still let him use his imagination. (I bought both the Doodles and Scribbles by the way). These are just awesome. WELL worth the price! My son loves them, my husband loves them, and I love them. The added unforeseen plus was that it has made some great bonding time when we sit and do these books with our son. The only complaint I would have (and believe me, this is very minor) is that I wish the books lay flat when open, maybe like a spiral binding instead of a regular book binding. Other than that, they are awesome. I highly recommend these!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
My kids and I love "Doodles".Since receiving my copy, I've suggested it to several friends and all of them have picked up a copy as well. The drawings are fun and my kids are always entertained and challenged...great for car trips or anywhere you and your kids are stuck sitting around waiting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, well worth its price
Your kids will never need another coloring book! This is a huge book that will keep the kids very entertained at home on a rainy day or in the car.And it's so much more than a coloring book; it's an activity book that even younger children can use.One example of what's in the book, there are four pages each with the exact same landscape. At the top of each page is a different "direction."One says "it's spring," the next "summer," the next "fall" and the last "winter is finally here." Great for fostering creativity and highly recommended. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Could have been Better for Those in the Know
For those in the know, the book suffers for want of careful editing. It is flawed, for example, by illustrator David Diaz' arrogance in placing his own designs on Quezada's pottery. Had this book been about van Gogh, Picasso or any other well-known artist, it is unlikely he would have portrayed their art with no concern for what it looked like in reality. This puts down Juan Quezada. Diaz also carelessly depicts Quezada building a pot by the continuous-coil method of the Indians of the American Southwest rather than by the distinctive method that he innovated and for which he is known. Better editing would have caught these problems with the illustrations as well as a multitude of minor inaccuracies that occur in the text, nearly one to a page. For example, in speaking of using a bean to burnish pottery, the author comments, "Of course dried beans can be found in any kitchen in the village." The bean in question is an inedible wild bean, the chilicote-not the kind that would normally be found in anyone's kitchen. Such editorial problems do not, however, detract from this production as a children's book. They are the sort that only one in the know would see.

5-0 out of 5 stars My kid is obsessed with this book
The absorbing subject matter of this book, presented through catchy rhymes and alliteration and strong, colorful illustrations, has completely captured the imagination of my four-year-old.For three days now, he's been "Juan" almost exclusively, following ants to a vein of "the very best clay, all squishy and white," pretending to make vessels for every conceivable purpose, and peppering me with questions about Mexico, pottery-making, and Juan himself.I've had to draw the line at cutting my hair for paintbrushes and gathering the "dried cow manure" left by the neighborhood dogs."The Pot That Juan Built" appeals to pre-schoolers' burgeoning interest in rhyme and other aspects of language; making things out of simple materials; and the world around them generally.I give it my highest recommendation!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Beautiful Book!
I'm appalled at the lack of love for this book!I am a teacher of a 3rd grade classroom in California where my children are learing about how humans use the world around them to create their life and build their culture. This book is a perfect tie-in to this concept. The illustrations are beautiful and I found the rhymes to be intelligent and descriptive. Two thumbs up from me, and 48 thumbs up from my class!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Relaxing Coloring Book
Highly recommend Everyone's Mandala designs. Each one is different enough so I felt a sense of momentum as I colored through the book and complicated enough to keep my interest as well.On the other hand, each design had wide shapes so that I didn't get lost in the details.Coloring overall was relaxing.I'm definitely getting her other volumes.I might get this one again, too, because the designs can be colored in so many different color combinations.Really a treat!

5-0 out of 5 stars Engaging the Center
I purchased the whole series and look forward to coloring or painting them all. They are deeply engaging, neither too simple nor too complex; calling me into a calm center where hope and healing not only feel possible but just seem to happen.A very thoughtful and creative bonus from the author that I've not seen in other Mandala books is the wide perforated margin at the center binding in every book so you can actually remove and display your favorite mandalas afterwards. This rare feature also makes it especially friendly to those of us who are left-handers!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars More emphasis need on education, being formal or financial
The author, while he does suggest education is important, does not stress it - he suggests advanced education is important only if you are entering into a professional career.(Read the introduction to see what I mean) - You may want to speak to the your children on that, I felt a bit uncomfortable knowing that's what my chilren would be reading.
4-0 out of 5 stars Still worth reading...offers good teen-friendly advice on achieving a financial headstart & freedom!
Despite the controversy surrounding the author, Robert Kiyosaki, I strongly feel that this particular book is still worth reading by teens, as it offers good teen-friendly advice on achieving financial headstart & freedom.

5-0 out of 5 stars New to Reggio Emilia approach - loved this book
I am not a teacher and I was not experienced in the Reggio Emilia approach to preschool education (project approach) before reading this book. I sought this book for handwork ideas with the items my girls collect on their nature walks. I could not put this book down!5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book for caring teachers of young children!
This book is a great way to ease yourself into Reggio or to inspire others on your team. You do not have to be "Reggio inspired" to know that young children love small, collectable items. They find such wonderful treasures, but classrooms are not often set up to make good use of this "Beautiful Stuff". This book has great photos and easy to read text showing readers the process that children and staff went through in developing this long term project.I particularly enjoyed the summaries at the end of each chapter on what the adults learned during the process. My only complaint would be that I wanted MORE!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Stuff! Learning with found materials.
If you are a Reggio inspired teacher as I am, you will love this book.It takes you through the wonderful process of sharing the joys of all thoselittle treasures that young children find and love. You will be amazed athow clever the children in your class become at sorting and classifyingthrough the kinds of experiences that working with 'Beautiful Stuff'involes.I just love this book, it has changed the way I view thematerials that I put out for the children, and how I use them.My friendsalso love this book and all ask, "where did you get it?"Thankyou Cathy Topal Weisman and Lella Gandini you are inspiring. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars More powerful than tv
This book has a gravity to it that is greater than the black hole of time and attention that is tv. My kids loved it and would sit and imagine themselves in the pictures (okay, so did I) as we traversed the lines blurred by Rob Gonsalves between real and surreal. The prose was nice but it is the paintings that make this such a delight. The only downside is the length; 33 pages, 16 paintings. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, realistic art projects for toddlers and preschoolers
I have a three-year old daughter with whom I wanted to explore arts and crafts. I looked at many different arts and crafts books before choosing this one to buy. Many other books that I looked at had projects that had complicated instructions or used materials that were expensive. I needed a book that I could pull off the bookshelf, open up, and pick a suitable art project quickly. Little Hands has realistic projects- by that, I mean projects that are meaningful, uncomplicated, and use basic materials that you're likely to have around the house.

4-0 out of 5 stars An art educators delight.
Learning Through Art is a wonderful teacher tool to expose students to art and artists through fun filled reading, writing, and observational activities. Many students have never visited or explored a museum. Learning Through Art gives students a feeling they have been able to visit a museum to discover and learn about art, art history, and art of many cultures. I share this book with students at the beginning of every school year and they love the activities. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great story of friendship, art, and puns, too!
This terrific book recounts the rivalry and eventual friendship of Picasso and Matisse, er, ah, excuse me...I meant, Pigasso and Mootisse. The protagonists in this story live across the street from each other and first hurl insults like,"You paint like a wild beast", (that's called "fauvism" for all you art lovers or snobs out there!) while Mootisse retorts, "You are pig-headed".Throughout, the paint and puns fly.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good text to suppliment a strong hands-on art program
I used a much older edition of this book in high school (it had a brown cover way back then). This text was good suppliment to the hands-on projects we did in class. It taught about art basics like types of meduim, technique, and touched on artists, famous works, and how to look at art. This is a great text to ensure students develop and hold an interest, love and understanding of art. ... Read more
