    Editorial Review

As his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry approaches, 15-year-old Harry Potter is in full-blown adolescence, complete with regular outbursts of rage, a nearly debilitating crush, and the blooming of a powerful sense of rebellion. It's been yet another infuriating and boring summer with the despicable Dursleys, this time with minimal contact from our hero's non-Muggle friends from school. Harry is feeling especially edgy at the lack of news from the magic world, wondering when the freshly revived evil Lord Voldemort will strike. Returning to Hogwarts will be a relief... or will it?Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars By far, the worst in the series.
This installment is easily the weakest in the series. The writing is all over the place, and there is no central plot to drive the story. That being said, the book is still good. I've just come to expect more from this series.

5-0 out of 5 stars It was great!
Harry Potter and The Order of the Pheonex was one of the best books i have ever read even though I am a huge Harry Potter fan. The book starts out by describing how the muggle prime minister and the minister of magic have to be connected. Harry is at home in the next chapter and Dumbledore comes to see him at the Durlseys and tells Harry how they would be having lessons the whole year, teaching Harry more about Voldemort's past and Harry learning how to kill Voldemort. The rest of the book plays up on the adventure that Dumbledore and Harry take together trying to kill part of Voldemorts soul, a Horcrux. When Harry and Dumbledore come home Dumbledore learns of how Draco Malfoy has been following Voldemort all year and Snape is also on the dark lord's side, seeing how he kills Dumbledore.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Dustin's Review
I loved this book because it kept you guessing and it was exciting. It was even better than all the others in my opinion.Harry was furious because he coudn't find out what Lord Voldemort was doing. This book is about stopping Voldemort and his horrible plans. The head of the ministry of magic has hired Professor Umbridge as the new defense against the Dark Arts teacher and the High Inquisitor of the school.Harry tries to help out other people by teaching defensive spells.I definitely recommend this book to people of all ages! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Advice of sibling true - they get better and better
My little brother passed away at just 17 years old on July 25th, and I remember when I first started reading year 4, he said that each book only get's better and I have a long way to go. Yes, it took me nearly three months to read this novel, but not because I'm that slow of a reader. More likely, the story and characters were so interesting that I preferred dragging out each chapter to save myself from moving forward to year 5.
5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Book- one you could read again and again
I LOVED THIS BOOK! It really IS a book you could read again and again. If I was stranded on an island for weeks and could only bring ONE book, I would DEFINETLY bring this book, without a doubt. It was thrilling, sad, funny, and beautifully written all at the same time. I admit, I cried. I did. Some people would think why cry but it was so touching, so beautiful, I loved it. It really is the BEST book I've ever read. I can't say anything bad about it.

Excellent. It is so educational and my kids cannot wait to get into the car to listen to it.I loved it so much that I ordered books 9-24.It is a definite must have.

5-0 out of 5 stars We could hardly wait to get in the car to listen!
My 6 year old grandson and I both enjoyed listening to the different adventures that Jack and Annie had as they flew from story to story. My grandson's favorite was the tale of the Mummy. My favorite thing was seeing his enjoyment and having him not grumble at having to run errands with me. The stories also expanded his vocabulary as each new or difficult word was explained by Jack to Annie in a way a child could understand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love the stories, dislike the organization of the CDs
The Magic Tree House stories are wonderful! My 5 year-old daughter loves listening to the stories at night. However, whomever made the decision to have a story multiple CDs surely didn't think about the listener.I've often wondered if it would be possible to burn separate CDs for each of the stories to make it easier for my daughter to hear a complete story without using a multi-disc CD changer. It's a pity that the CDs are packaged this way as otherwise it's a great package. ... Editorial Review

For most children, summer vacation is something to look forward to.Butnot for our 13-year-old hero, who's forced to spend his summers with an aunt, uncle, and cousin who detest him. The third book in J.K. Rowling's HarryPotter series catapults into action when the young wizard "accidentally" causes the Dursleys' dreadful visitor Aunt Marge to inflate like a monstrous balloon and drift up to the ceiling. Fearing punishment from Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon (and from officials at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who strictly forbid students to cast spells in the nonmagic world of Muggles), Harry lunges out into the darkness with his heavy trunk and his owl Hedwig. 4-0 out of 5 stars I like the book
I choose to read Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban this summer,as a summer reading book because I thought the movie was good. So , I decided to read the book and see what is different and the same. J.k. Rowling has a great nack for writing children's because i love the books she writes. What I don't like is that the book ends and doesn't say where Harry stays. Does he stay with his godparent or dr does he go back to his uncle & aunts house.Maybe he stays with his godparent or go's to his uncles or he stays in hogwarts. I would like to read the fourth book to find out.

4-0 out of 5 stars It was a great book
This summer i read the book Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban. I thought the book was greta and so was the movie. In the book there is some parts that are the same in the movie and somethings that are in the book not in the movie. That is what i did not like about the book the parts should of been explain so you could understand it more. Overall i like reading Harry Potter books because they are very interesting and exciting to me.

4-0 out of 5 stars It is very funny !!! great book!!!
This is a plot for everyone because it is very entertaining. It is also very easy to understand. Once you start reading, you can hardly put the book down. There are also links to other episodes of the book that makes the reader want to read more. There are usages of magic, fantasy creatures, and competitive sports in the plot to create colorful variety to the audience. J.K. Rowling uses the purity of adolescence and interprets it in the form of courage, cooperation, and youthful innocence that showed the power to overcome many things.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Review from a Perfect Score
The book starts off at Harry's aunt and uncle's house. Harry goes back to Hogwarts for his second year at school. There is a new character and his name is "Dobby." He is a slave. He does not want Harry Potter to go to Hogwarts. Dobby made it so that Harry could not get on the train so Harry took a flying car. And Dobby made the Blunger in Quitage chase him and break his arm.

Great book, but did anyone notice that they left there trunks in the trunk of the car yet had them when they got to school...?
5-0 out of 5 stars Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets
An absolutely enthralling book. The story can grasp the attention of 10 year olds and 30 year olds. A great story to read to your children before bedtime. J.K. 5-0 out of 5 stars ZZZzzzz.....
This beloved and bestselling book from Audrey and Don Wood has been delighting children--and sending them off to bed with laughter and sweet dreams-for years. The infectious cumulative rhyme of The Napping House has made this book a classic. Now here is the new sturdy edition just right for tiny hands, making them a must for every family's board book collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Repeat Book
I am not a fan of books that repeat themselves, but this one is adorable. The pictures are so good and the rhymes so cute that it does not even phase me to repeat the lines. It is the perfect length for a bedtime story. Looking forward to reading it for years!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great repetition; fun story
My son enjoys this book predominantly because of repetition. It is one that is in high rotation, but not the most favorite. I do think it is harder for him to follow as the pictures are not very bright/distinct.I do recommend this book to other parents. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet story
This is a wonderful story for any child who has ever felt left out.Leo is tiny and can't make his light shine. He is teased by the other lightning bugs. His mom tells him to keep trying and he'll succeed. After practicing over and over, he finally figures out how to light his light. The other bugs stop teasing him and he learns to laugh at himself, an important lesson for the younger child.I have a 6 year old and an 8 1/2 year old and they both love this story. The illustrations are wonderful.

5-0 out of 5 stars My two nephews love this book & CD!
This lovely and lively story became an instant favorite of my two young nephews -- which is saying a lot considering that their bookshelf is well stocked! The CD that accompanies the book (making the price a real bargain) is no afterthought -- it is just as rich in detail and as well-produced as the book itself. And having a CD of the book comes in very handy when the boys are in the mood to hear the story AGAIN (and again and again and again...)

5-0 out of 5 stars My children are enchanted, amused and QUIET!
I purchased this CD prior to a family roadtrip last spring, having no prior exposure to Arnold Lobel, or Frog & Toad. My 6-year old son and 4-year old daughter were quick converts. They easily follow the stories, laugh at the absurdities of the characters' sweet friendship. They constantly requested it to be played in the car whenever we were out and about. Since then, we have also purchased "Mouse Tales" on CD, which they also adore. Intelligent, engaging, & fun.

2-0 out of 5 stars The hobbit
I didnt really enjoy this book because it was hard for me to understand. I understood the characters and i could picture what they looked liked because it has good discription, but other than that the rest of the book didn't grab my intrest. The biggest reason I didn't like this book was probably because it wasn't real, like how the hobbits lived under ground. After reading this book I relized that i'm just not into fantasy stories.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of these books
The story of a simple man on a long journey, I enjoyed every page and have read it again and again.
5-0 out of 5 stars There and Back Again
I know that over a thousand people have reviewed this wonderful book but I felt so strongly about The Hobbit that I just had to say sonething about it. The Hobbit was and still is a masterpiece, and will remain a masterpiece for centuries to come. One of the main reasons why is that its prose and style of writing is absolutely captivating. It has a simple and delightful charm to it that makes you want to keep on reading. Its plot is also a treat. It is not boring or stale, as I've heard others say, but lively. Also, with this book, there are many coicidences and connections among characters (so what if Bilbo didn't kill Smaug? Think about it. Could a little hobbit really kill a dragon twenty times his size, despite his cunning and discreetness? I don't think so). Best of all, though, it has a sweet message and theme that can actually leave you pondering about it for hours. I have read the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and I have to admit that, in my opinion, The Hobbit is better, despite the Trilogy's genius. What can I say? It's an excellent read, and definetly worth your time. The only thing you'll regret is that it will go by too fast. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars MAGIC TREE HOUSE CD COLLECTION BOOKS 9-16 by Mary Pope Osborne
My daughter has struggled with reading since the first grade. She will begin the third grade in a week.We discovered the Magic Tree House Collection while participating in our local library's summer reading program. She fell in love with the characters Jack and Annie and their adventures. She has a desire to read now that she did not have before-which makes things much better for the both of us.The CDs reinforce what she reads and this has helped her tremendously.

4-0 out of 5 stars "Better Than a DVD, Dad"
The stories are addictive and the narration is terrific. My 4 kids, ranging in age from 4 to 8 all love the books and opt to listen to the CDs instead of using the car's DVD player. They are better saved for longer trips, but each book has about 10 chapters, so there are natural breaks in the story. 5-0 out of 5 stars Ooops! She did it again
J.K Rowling has pulled off another stellar Harry Potter. Because the amount of time it takes to complete a 7-part series, I thought she'd run out of steam, but clearly she has not. After seeing what happened with King towards the end of the Dark Towers series, I was afraid another renowned writer might do the same. I was pleasantly disappointed. There is nothing else to say. Great book. She keeps the series rolling perfectly. Some of the goings on (people who've read the story should know what I'm talking about) I believe are front for other plans, and I was not heart broken at the end.
5-0 out of 5 stars Harry's Daring Quest
Harry Potter and Professor Dumbledore try to research Lord Voldemort's childhood. They search through the pensieve discovering the truth about Lord Voldemort. They realize the rutheless, evil wizard splits his soul into seven pieces by murdering seven innocent people. Then he magicallyhid them into valuable objects, which Harry and Dumbledore set after for. I loved the book because the story line was thrilling and intriguing. The characters were daring, intelligent, humorous, and wise. My favorite character is Harry Potter who is a sixteen year old wizard who's parents died because Voldemort murdered them both. Harry is my favorite character because he is brave and humorous. Some related books to this one are all five of the other Harry Potter books. I think this book ranks number one in comparison to them all.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book series stinks! And that's flattering.
One star is giving this terrible and uninteresting series a huge compliment. Especially this book, where the plot consists of little but pointless stories of the character's love lives until the end, when there is a quick bit that is actually about Good vs evil. If Harry can be called good. beyond this words cannot describe my disgust for this book and for the whole series. Hope Harry dies. Painfully. ... Read more

This is clearly the best book in the series to read at an early age.Its non-lengthly and vert exiting and will get children wnting to read bigger books like the rest of the series. It is about a teenage boy who lives with his dispicable relatves the Dursleys becouse his parents died in what he thinks is a car accidents. He gets an overbearing amount of acceptance letters to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry delivered by many pesky owls.He finally figures out he is a wizard fom the letters that his dispicable uncle ahd to try to keep from him.He goes to Hogwarts on a train that Harry had to walk through a wall to get to it.On the way in the bus he met Ron Weasley who eventually realizes he is talking to a living legend.Harry's parents had actually died by the wand of Voldemort.Voldemort was ann evil wizard who tried to kill the magic world.Harry survived becouse his mom saved hm in a strange way.Buy this book and read the amazing story of Harry Potter
5-0 out of 5 stars Good for all
As an adult and a parent I can't recommend these books enough. And I'm amazed the religious fundamentalists can't see past the magic and see the true central theme to the series. That being love is the most powerful force there is. Not evil. My daughters' grandparents have forbidden her from reading these books. Yet they have never read a single page of any of the books. This type of ridiculous judgement has to stop. These stories have everything a growing mind needs. After reading some of the reviews on this page all I can say is that I'm truly glad to see there are still rational people in this world.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Harry Potter series is a must read!!
Some people don't like the Harry Potter series because of the whole whitch/wizard and magic thing, but if you don't mind that, these books are great! It's a series that has it all: mystery, humor, etc. It has great charactors that you really feel like you know, and it has a great moral too: good over evil.

An affectionate, sometimes bashful pig named Wilbur befriends a spider named Charlotte, who lives in the rafters above his pen. A prancing, playful bloke, Wilbur is devastated when he learns of the destiny that befalls all those of porcine persuasion. Determined to save her friend, Charlotte spins a web that reads "Some Pig," convincing the farmer and surrounding community that Wilbur is no ordinary animal and should be saved. In this story of friendship, hardship, and the passing on into time, E.B. White reminds us to open our eyes to the wonder and miracle often found in the simplest of things. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A fine work of literature that can stand alongside any in English
I just reread it recently as an adult. I had this boxed set of three hardcover E.B. White books when I was a kid - Charlotte's Web, The Trumpet of the Swan (which I remember as my favorite of the three, though I hardly remember it today), and Stuart Little.
    5-0 out of 5 stars Charlotte's Web
I've purchased this book for my daughter who is almost 9 years old, I end up reading it before her. This book is great for growing up kids; how wonderful and variable it is to have a friend he/she can depend on and be with to share fun, sad and so so stories to one another.
4-0 out of 5 stars A classic, and for a good reason
This book, though it may seem to be just a cute story about a pig, is actually quite sad.The first time I read this book I was in first grade and I liked it, but it was only when I just recently read it again that I realized how good it really is. This book, through its simple plot, reminded me a lot about how selfless some people are and also about growing up.No wonder it's a classic; even though it's written for little kids, it can remind a lot of people about their own lives and bring back a lot of fond memories. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Memories
I enjoyed the book The Giver By: Lois Lowry. The Giver is about a boy named Jonas who lives in a community that everything is the same. Jonas is selected to be the new reciever of memories, which is an extremely important job. The receiver of memories holds all of the memories of the past so the community doesn't have to bear them. As Jonas takes on these memories the excitement begins. I enjoyed the characters in the Giver because they were different and interesting. I loved the plot because it was exciting and suspenceful. The Giver is one of a triolgy of books. The second is called Gathering Blue and the last is The Messenger, they are all relitivily related.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Giver
Lois Lowry's eye opening novel, The Giver, really does make you think, ''Is the grass greener on the other side?''
5-0 out of 5 stars VHS Class Giver Review- Benton Wilson
The Giver, by Lois Lowry, is an excellent work of literature. It presents a stunning example of a futuristic, dystopian society where all facets of life are controlled by various rules and regulations in an easily readable format. Jonas, the novel's protagonist, is chosen by the council to become the successor to the Giver, a man whose job is to mentally store the collective memories of society. The book focuses on situations such as a society without individuality, the importance of choice, and how people react to finding out that the accepted truths of their world were at one point not the case. Ms. Lowry uses chilling imagery, such as the lack of color, the inability of most people to love, and the unemotional "release" of those who don't fit into the government's carefully laid out plans for a perfect society to establish a mood that, while somewhat bleak, is not entirely without hope. The story picks up as it progresses, shifting to a more tense, but still equally atmospheric, form. This tension is skillfully maintained until the story's conclusion. I would heartily recommend this story to all those who enjoy fictional works that focus on either individualism vs. society or potential visions of the future.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but the CD keeps falling out....
I am a preschool teacher and purchased this for use in the classroom. One of the things I did not like about it was that the CD does not stay in the book and keeps falling out, so I am worried about it getting scratched. The children enjoy acting out the animals to the music so I am glad that I did get it for the planned body movement in the classroom. I am a big fan of classical music and the book that goes with the CD is well drawn and written.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT FOR KIDS!
I use this book and CD collection in my preschool music classes. Sometimes I just do one song a week. Sometimes I save it until the end of the year and spend the whole session reading and dancing to the music pretending to be the various animals . They love it. The funny thing to me is that my grade school class (6-10 years old) saw it in my bag and asked about it and so I read them a bit and played a few selections at the end of classthey loved it and insisted that I bring it back so that I could finish it. They love the music and the movement too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource
I got this book to introduce the orchestra to kindergarteners. It is wonderful; the descriptions of the instruments used in this piece are fantastic, and each animal then has another story that really aids in connecting sounds to previous experiences. The classes really enjoyed it as well; they looked forward to learning about the Carnival every time they came! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Told Stories
I have been a fan of the More Scary Stories books since I was a little kid. Schwartz's stories and Gammell's illustrations were always a treat to look. Sadly I can't read and work at the same time so I decided to buy the audio tapes. They're very good and very creepy. The narrator has a great range of vocals and tells the stories beautifully, even frightening me at times. I was sort of dissapointed to see that a few of my favorite stories from the first volume were missing, such as The Thing and WINDEGO, but overall I'm very pleased with the quality of these CDs. Now I can take these scary stories to whatever dark places I desire.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite scary story collections.
These stories scared me a LOT when I found out about them. Except for the funny ones. My favorites are: THE HOOK, "OH, SUSANNAH!", THE BAD NEWS, THE ATTIC, THE WINDOW, THE BIG TOE, THE WHITE WOLF, THE WOLF GIRL, THE CURSE, THE LITTLE BLACK DOG, AARON KELLY'S BONES, T-H-U-P-P-P-P-P-P-P!, "NO, THANKS", THE GHOST WITH THE BLOODY FINGERS, THE VIPER, HIGH BEAMS, HAROLD, SUCH THINGS HAPPEN, THE DEAD HAND, THE APPOINTMENT, THE WENDIGO, and ROOM FOR ONE MORE. (can't think of other stories).
    5-0 out of 5 stars I don't care if you're 50. You will be scared...trust me.
I read these books about 15 years ago and I must say to this day they are still among the scariest I've ever read. In fact I'd almost NOT suggest letting little children read them. The stories are short and truely frightening. The only suggestion that I have is that you do actually read the books. I have yet to hear the audio CD but I intend to get it in the near future just to have on hand. The reason for this is the pictures. The drawings done for these books are utterly horrifying. In 15 years I STILL have trouble looking at some of them. And better yet, they are burned into my memory. If your a parent, I'd suggest flipping through the pages first to see if you're okay with the stories themselves...but the pictures as well (as the pictures can really pack a punch, nightmares all around). ...
