Ugh
This book is awful.The blurb makes it sound like a story of ostracism in high school, but the characters are cardboard-flat. It's more of a preachy spiritual trip for the author than a story.There's no reason for the narrator, Justin, to befriend the school outcast (who is a Christian-raised white boy trying to live as a Buddhist monk). The narrator's friends are bratty and too obviously shallow. The school bully is a stock stereotype who does all the predictable bully things. I got about halfway through and quit.
Powerful Book, Good For a Friendshipor Peace Theme/Unit
I found this book really riviting and also surprising.I recommend it as a read aloud for the classroom if you take out the swear words.The main character, Justin, finds himself stuggling to like the new boy, Jinsen.Jinsen acts like a Buddhist and is an incredible artist, but he won't defend himself against those who torment him.Read the book and find out why.It's really worth your time.I look forward to rereading this book!

The Children's Book of Faith
This is a wonderful anthology for all Christians. It keeps to the basics that we all agree on and includes prayers, poems, Bible stories, stories of Catholic and of Protestant heroes of the Christian faith and stories which encourage the development of morals. There are delightfully drawn pictures on every page. While preschoolers and kindergartners will enjoy some of these stories, others may take until children are in 6th grade before they understand the world enough to fully get all that can be gotten of stories they may enjoy with a simpler understanding at an earlier age. As you can tell from other reader reviews, even adults will find it an enjoyable and challenging book. I think that if you get it early enough, that it will be a book that children will grow into and love throughout the years.
Excellent for both children and parent
I found this book just incredible. The stories are just wonderful for teaching the children valuable lessons and virtues. It's hard to explain the book, other than that my kids enjoyed hearing them, I enjoyed reading them, and the lessons in the stories challenge both child and parent alike.

Could have been broader

Princess Diaries Review

She gets it!
Aiee! I loved it! So cute and funny and smart and, wow, someone else who's, like, not 14 anymore remembers HOW IT WAS. Because, you know, even though I wasn't, like, a princess or anything, I was totally flat-chested and tall with bad hair. Meg Cabot GETS IT. She gets it without talking down and without making the heroine dumb. Go Meg Cabot!

The Princess Diaries
Even though I compared the book to the movie alot, I still found time to enjoy it. Mia is an average, but tiny bit geeky on the outside- girl in New York when she finds out her father is the Prince of a small country in Europe, and that she is the heir to the throne. So her grandmother has to give her princess lessons, and she tries to act like a normal person so no one finds out otherwise she'd forever be known as a freak. Plus, her Mom is dating her Algebra teacher, which can never be good.

The Worst Witch
This book was about Miss Cackle's Acadamey for Witches and the witches who go to the school.Some of the teacher's names are Miss Bat and Miss Hardbroom.The head mistress's name is Miss Cackle.I would like to be a witch at Miss Cackle's.I would like to be a friend of Mildred's. I liked the book because the pictures made the book more interesting .The front cover was also interesting because it showed pictures from the TV show.The book made me feel like a real witch. I also liked the book because Mildred is so clumsy and has some pretty neat adventures.I wish I could have adventures like her. You should read this book.

If you like Harry Potter, you'll love this!
This is a fantastic book! If you are a Harry Potter fan, then you definatly need to read this. Our heroine, Mildred, is in her first year at Miss Cackles Academy for witches. She tries hard, but everything she does seems to go wrong! When she is almost expelled for ruining the halloween festival and discracing her school, Mildred runs away, but runs into a group of Witches plotting trouble for the Academy! Mildred saves the day and comes out shining! This is a must-have story for young children, But don't let the size of the book fool you, This is a great read for ALL ages! Jill Murphy truly has weaved magic.

Harry Potter, you are nothing compared to Mildred
Midred Hubble . . even her name brims with magic! She's a terrible witch, though not as bad as the title of the book makes her out to be.
