I grew up with this book and today, at the age of 22, I was cheered up with just the thought of it while having my own horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day.

fantastic teen read
I never knew that this book was by a ghostwriter.I loved it even though it was alittle crazy with the whole blair and nate and I wanna be bonnie and clyde thing.
Desperate, sucky, bad plot, and desperate is the recipie for the worst Gossip Girl book.
I was VERY dissapointed in this Gossip Girl book. It made me mad when I read the previous reveiws on the last book, saying that she had a ghost writer. Why I was mad, I have no idea. But, while first reading this book I was looking for hints that Cicly did not write this.
Here's the Wierd Thing
I've been reading the GG series since book 3 came out, and well, I hate all the characters, and their choices, but can't seem to stay away. It's just because the books are exceptionally well written for what is basically trash fiction.

Gossip Girl- Nobody does it better
For those of you that are familiar with the Gossip Girl series this is one of the better ones because some of the characters act slightly differently then you would expect them to and this adds a nice change.

Each character brings a delectable entree to the table that you can't help but gobble up with a silver spoon

Sleazy and Petty
This installation of the Gossip Girl series is just as shallow and superficial as all its predecessors are. The entire plot revolves around getting high, having sex, smoking, and guzzling down alcohol. The whole series is pure trash from beginning to end.

Not as good as the others
I agree with what some of the other people are saying this book is no where near as good as the other books, it seems as if ever since the kids graduated the author has run out of ideas. And those reviewers who are complaining about how this book isn't apporiate for younger readers, shoud know this book is for ages 16 and up and every 16 year old has heard or used the "f" word at least once in their lives.Yes there is a lot of sex, drugs, and bad language but that's a part of the real world. ... DELICIOUS JUICY READ....

Totally Not Real
It about rich kids doing whatever they want like sex and durgs. I doubt such a family would allow their kids to go around do things like that. Trust me, it's not worth it.

Corruption of Adolescent's Minds
I will always read book reviews over the internet before buying any book again. I don't even want to explain what's in the book because it is completely worthless. I did not have any clue that this book was not intended for a 25-year-old lady. I really thought that this book was a story about the awful consequences of gossip on society, for instance, or a story about a girl who gets caught by her own evil actions after gossiping and spreading rumors around. I did not imagine that it was written in such an inappropriate way to support gossip and other immoral behaviors. Besides it's pointless and disrespectful, since it's supporting something that is totally not innocent. Defiantly, I would not recommend this book for young girls nor for 18 and up, because it does not have any useful bit of information. If people keep reading these kinds of books that corrupt young girls' minds, damages their intellectuality, people will ruin the world. A Thrilling Childhood Memory
Jumanji is a great book! I am 23 years old now and I still remember the day my 2nd grade teacher read Jumanji to my class. I was hanging on her every word and the illustrations were absolutley amazing. This was in the year 1987 and up to that point I had never seen pictures so vividly and immaculately rendered. Jumanji was unlike any other book that I had read because it was fun, exciting, adventurous, and also eerie which added to the intrigue. I was very disappointed by the movie interpretation of it, because it's nothing like the real thing.

A bit slow, but still good
Like many classics, this book is paced completely different than a modern novel. It takes forever to get going and even then, not all that much does happen. That to me was the biggest disappointment: Not all that much happens at all. Sure, they get in some trouble and have to fight their way through, but overall, it seems a two-week trip of my own is often more exciting than these 80 days around a world (to excaturate slightly). And to make matters worse, even when something does happen and people venture out to solve a problem, too much time is spent describing the people left behind waiting, and sometimes there is no description of the actual solution of the problem. But such is the style of the time, I guess.

Rollicking good time
I think those of us who were introduced to this classic via the recent Jackie Chan movie were done a great disservice. This book accomplishes what few books can: even though the characters are one dimensional, the reader cares about them and genuinely wants to know what will happen next.

SOME OF THE AUTHOR'S BEST WORK
I did indeed love this one.The art work, per usual, for this author, was absolutely perfect.It is the type of work that can appeal to children as well as adults (I'm well into my sixties, and I enjoyed it...of course I have a lot of little boy in me still).As to the narrative, I did feel this was one of the author's better works.Allsburg is certainly a teller of good stories.I have observed this work being read to the children at our local library and it is one of their favorites.Again, the art work is almost magical, quite detailed and rather amazing to view.Recommend this one highly.

Blah!!!
You're the one that I want, by Cecily von Ziegesar, is about preppy, rich kids who get to do whatever they want. They are very high class and are always talking about someone else. In this book, they are waiting for their college acceptance letters to come back and see which colleges they were accepted to. They are always complaining about something. They buy whatever they want and are always worried about what others will think of them. They try and find comfort in objects and or boys to calm their nerves while waiting for the letters. They won't be happy until they get their letters and get into all of the colleges that they applied to. Although this book is about a lot of wealthy and some what snobby teenagers, I really enjoy reading it. It's very interesting and funny to read. I think that some of the situations that they go through can relate to what I go through. They're teens in this book and regardless of how rich or poor you are, all teens go through some of the same situations. It's just funny to see how they would handle the different situations thrown at them. I think ultimately it's a good book because you can escape from reality while you're reading it. I can imagine the stress that they're going through while waiting for their letters so it's just interesting to read about it. It's funny because you don't think these types of things can actually take place so I enjoyed reading it. I've actually read a lot of the novels from the Gossip Girl series and they're all interesting, dramatic, and fun to read as well as hard to put down.

The gossip keeps on entertaining
Book two in the gossip girl series finds Blair Waldorf getting ready to lose her virginity to her boyfriend Nate.This is the second time the couple has planned a romantic evening for such a momentous occasion, and soon becomes the second time that they are interrupted.To Blair's shock and horror, they are interrupted by her mother who informs them that she is getting remarried to a man Blair loathes and the wedding will be in 3 weeks - on Blair's birthday!!For Blair this is the icing on an already rotten cake as she is suspicious of Nate's loyalty and worried about college applications.

At first I didn't like the second as much as the first because alot of the details are recycled from the first. I was like: I already know this! But then something happened. Aaron happened. And he is a breath of fresh air added to the story. And how Blair reacts to her mother remarrying is totally funny and tragic also. Then Nate cheats on her. Wow that subplot was wonderful! I loved it. And I also loved that Serena and Dan DIDNT work out. It really makes sense.

How could Nate do that?
Its funny how a old best friend you thought you can trust all of sudden just think you are this tramp when you came from another school. And your old best friend believe everything else from other people than personally asking her so call friend. Well she pretty much deserve what was coming to her. After all the time she has been such a bitch toward her old best friend. And once hell has over flown she finally lighten up and start talking to her old best friend. Blair is such a drama queen. ... changes
After the disappointed g.g book # 3 This book (The fourth one) comes out it's so good. It's good like the first book was. Alot of things happen that are shocking like Nate gets busted in the park and Blair has an affair with a married man! Wow it was good. But the thing I hate about this book is Dan and Vanessa. Anything with them I quickly read through. It's so boring until Dan cheats on her with Mystery Craze. Also he's becoming very arrogant just like the rest of the characters in this book and I hate that! His sister Jenny has a lesbian affair too. I didn't see that one coming. It's all too juicy to put down.

My favorite
This is the third gossip girl novel. So far out of reading all of them so far, this is my favorite. I like the plot that Jenny and all the characters were into. They live the perfect lives and it's just hilarious to see what they're going to be doing next.
Gossip Girl- Because I'm worth it

WHAT A FASCINATING WORK!
Other reviewers have used the word "strang" to discribe this work.I think the words "haunting" and "mysterious," probably hit closer to the mark.At least they do for me.This is one of those works that will certainly make you think.More importantly, it will make, or should make, the young reader think.That is the key to the fascination of the text of this work.Beyond doubt, the illustrations are quite wonderful, even beautiful.I did not the some of the youth reviews here were not overly enthusiastic.I have found that many young people do indeed "get" the story, while others do not.Some simply do not have the capacity to wonder, to imagine.This is sort of sad in a way, but on the other hand, it is works such as this, that if read with an adult who does have that spark of wonder in them, might allow some of that wonder to rub off.I like a good fantasy and a good mystery, ergo, I liked this book and do recommend it.The art work and stark writing alone are worth it.

can you figure out who the stranger is?
some criticize the tale because it leaves much open to speculation/imagination; that is part of the appeal of this Van Allsburg work; I had to read it 2 or 3 times before I figured out the ID of the stranger; then I wanted to read it again to see all the clues I had missed; it is so clever; I agree that it is not a book for small children, but not because of adult themes or unrealistic elements (driver hitting pedestrian, no injury to pedestrian, driver not punished for crime, stranger going home to family, risk of child abuse when stranger alone w/daughter, etc); it is not a book for small children because they would not understand the complexity of the symbolism; about a 1st grader would understand it for sure; beyond that, any age can enjoy; I can see how teachers like to read it w/classes to spur thinking & discussion

This book was hilarious! This book was outstanding because it told the original story from a whole different point of view. It has some extra details here and there. The originals story had the houses made up of bricks, straw, and sticks. Gossip Girl in General
I find the gossip girl books to be very entertaining. They fit around the same area as The Clique (which are entertaining, but let's face it, the girls have stupid 'non-problems') only for an older set. All of the books live up to expectations of the rest. I think that all of the characters are interesting and the story line keeps you guessing and entertained.

This book is so bad! This is the fifth book out of gossip girl and alot of things in this book are so bad that I have to skip alot of pages. I don't care about Dan and Vanessa anymore. Too boring and even worse when Vanessa's parents show up. Nate's girl friend is too retarded and too unbelievable to believe, and the gay snowboarding team? Are you kidding me? Why does Chuck of all guys become gay all of a sudden? It doesn't make any sense! I hate the character Rusty and I really hate Jenny. Snooping on her boyfriend like that all the time and that's all that happens with her in this book. Jennys friend Elise and Dan kiss. That was really stupid. This whole book is stupid and makes no sense. I loved gossip girls until this fifth one came out.

Not the Best
I have been hooked on the Gossip Girl series since the first book and I have currently read up to the fifth, I Like it Like That, but honestly, I wouldn't have mind skipping it. I thought this book was a little bit predictable and boring. Jenny is my least favorite character because, is it just me or does she seems like she goes after guys that are rich and handsome? After she finds out Leo is "normal" she dumps him. It seemed to me that he had a nice personailty and that should have been enough. The last book I was so hooked on the Vanessa & Dan relastionship, but this one I was actually skipping the chapters about them. Blair & Serena have always been my favorites, and that is what saved this book. Their adventures in Sun Valley was the best part and never really was boring in my opinon. Also GG [Gossip Girl] saved this book as well. Her entries are always funny and interesting to look at. Some people say that Cecily von Ziegsar writes using profound words such as the "f" word. Well I have to say that im a teenager to and to be honest, that is how most teens talk. Cecily really captured the life of a teenager well with the stress on schools [im 13 and picking a HIGH school is tough for me, think about college], also sex and drugs. I know people that are much younger than Blair and Serena and have more experience with these things than all of the characters put together. And also family troubles, because every family has them right? Her choice of words are accurate and theres nothing wrong with that, and besides in the fifth book she hardly swears if ever, I wasn't paying much attention to that. I loved the first book. Thought the second was good but not as great as the first and the third is absolutely horrible! We start out with Flow. A famous handsome musician. He loves Serena and Serena doesn't love him back. Yawn. All this happened with her and Dan already. I don't want to see it recycled. Then his sister Jenny is in love with Nate and becomes obsessed with him, just like Dan did with Serena. Another boring plot because it was already written in the last book. Nate continues to do pot. How boring and how many times can you write that over and over again. We get it Cecily! And in a story that could have been good but wasnt was that Aaron liked his step sister. So he mopes around the whole book until the end when he notices how pretty serena is. boring. I get that Serena is so beautiful but its unbelievable that brad pitt and jenifer aniston are in the carribean with them and its also unbelievable how Flow follows her around the world and pines after her. Dan and Vanessa are together and have a stupid love affair and stupider fights or whatever it was that happened between them. Their story was stupid and pointless! I was so looking foward to seeing what would happen now that Serena and Blair were best friends again but this story was a total let down.

PARENTS BEWARE!!!!
Parents BEWARE!!!This author writes complete filth.Her frequent use of the "f" word is proof of that.She uses it throughout ALL of her books, she writes about teens smoking joints, casual sex, children (8-10 years of age) drinking alcohol like it is common throughout the USA.This author has written her books to appeal to the 13-16 year olds.Do we really want our young adults and young teens reading filth like this?Where have our morals and values gone?I have personally had her books removed from our schools library and the local public library.Check them out in any bookstore, your jaw will drop.

Review of All I Want Is Everything
My review over this story is that Blair tries to act like it doesn't bother her that Nate dumped her for Jenny.In fact it really does bother her.Blair tries to do things to get him off her mind but all she does is involve other people.She makes this one guy Miles think that she likes him when really she just used him to get over Nate and tries to make him jealous.Nate realizes that Jenny isn't made for him and wants to get back with Blair.Then Blair ends up turning him down and moves on doing her own thing.The setting of this book takes place in New York City's Upper East Side were they live in penthouses and townhouses.They attend the most elite schools and enjoy what New York City has to offer. ... WONDERFUL CONCEPT - YOU MIGHT WANT TO OWN THIS ONE
This is a different book in so many ways.It is really one that should be placed not only in the children's section of the library, but the adult also.The author gives us a brief explanation as to where the pictures came from (no spoiler here..read it yourself), and then the book begins.Each picture is all Allsburg.Wonderful black and white illustrations done in pencil and, as with his other books, each illustrtion is absolutely captivating and a delight to gaze at or study.Each picture is accompanied by just one line of a story with no explanation other than the picture itself.This is a wonderful book to add to a creative writing class, for any age, contemplate late evenings, or just to enjoy anytime.This work will certainly not hurt a childs imagination and infact can start the day-dreaming going in most adults.I highly recommend this one and highly recommend you add it to your home library.

Haunting and Beautiful
When I first saw this book as a kid it really sparked my imagination.To this day I still get chills when I look at the pictures that speak volumes through mere implication.Allsburg is a visual master with a mind for sharp effective prose, to which this is a testament

Better than the frist 1
I know that the first book was good and all but u know that the second book was TOTALLY! better because the infamous Tinsley Carmicheal is the best one in the book and if u disagree that just too bad

My First It
This was my first experience with an It Girl novel, but after reading Notorious (in record time), I can understand how these series have become so popular.The plot is as turbulant as a day at Waverly for Jenny, Callie, Brett, and Tinsley, and kept me totally enthralled.But more important than the impressively twisty plot were the characters themselves.Even usually selfish and cruel Tinsley has moments when her (okay, maybe only a few) redeeming qualities are revealed.Each character (and there are a lot) is fully developed, not just the stars of the Waverly soap, Jenny and Tinsley.Brandon, Heath, and Easy, all the boys, are written with enough detail and compassion that you can picture them and, more imporantly, like them (well except for Heath, but that's a personal preference).
Trash with a captial T
My daughter brought these books home with her from her vacation!Very racy stuff for a 13 year old.Lots of the F work and the F deed is never actually done, but always speculated about and a distinct possibility, what with all that cuddling in bed.
