5-0 out of 5 stars Great books for every child!!!
The books are great! This volume : The Going to Bed Book, But Not the Hippotamus, Opposites, Horns to Toes; I must say that I am going to get more of Sandra Byonton's books. The rhymes are short and simple but nice and I think this is important for infants as their attention span is pretty short. The illustrations are wonderful and kids won't go tired of them forever as they are cartoon characters. My 8 month old and 6 years old daughters to enjoy listening to the rhymes and looking at the pictures as I enjoy reading the books to them. Get these volume now.....

5-0 out of 5 stars great for under two
I bought these books for my daughter and she just loves them. Plus, they're so easy for her to handle since they are board books. She loves to just sit in her chair and "read" them by herself too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Boynton Books are Best
These books are great for the 0-3 age group. They have cute little animals that are likable and just look like they would be fun to know in person. The books are short with catchy rhymes. They are easy to read and easy to memorize. For those with a short attention span, like the active toddler age, these books are perfect.

Editorial Review

They were just a soft, ordinary pair of thrift-shop jeans until the fourgirls took turns trying them on--four girls, that is, who are close friends, about to be parted for the summer, with very different sizes and builds, not tomention backgrounds and personalities. Yet the pants settle on each girl's hipsperfectly, making her look sexy and long-legged and feel confident as a teenagercan feel. "These are magical Pants!" they realize, and so they make a pact toshare them equally, to mail them back and forth over the summer from whereverthey are. Beautiful, distant Lena is going to Greece to be with hergrandparents; strong, athletic Bridget is off to soccer camp in Baja,California; hot-tempered Carmen plans to have her divorced father all to herselfin South Carolina; and Tibby the rebel will be left at home to slave for minimumwage at Wallman's.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An awesome book!
The Sister Hood of the Traveling Pants is an awesome book.It talks about the trials and tribulations about four teenage girls who have to be separated for the summer. It may not seem like a big deal but it is to them because they have been friends their whole lives.Their moms met in a yoga class when they were pregnant. All of the girls end up in different places of the world: Lena ends up in Greece, Carmen leaves for her dad's house, Bridgett travels to Baja Mexico for a soccer camp, and Tibby stays at home. Before they are about to separate, they find this pair of pants that Carmen got at the thrift store. It fits them all perfectly, as if by magic. So, they make up the sisterhood and make up all of the rules. They record all of their adventures of the pants at the end of the summer and share them with each other. Its' a great story and I would encourage anybody to read it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sister Hood of the Traveling Pants
"Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", is an outstanding book for all ages. This story is about four teenage girls who have been inseperable since they were born and now they have to split up for the summer and find their own adventures. Carmen is going to South Carolina where she will spend the summer with her dad, but what she doesn't know is what will await her arrival. Bridget is the boy crazy one, who is going tosoccer camp. Will this be the summer she finds true love? Lena, is going to Greece to visit her grandparents. Lena is very coservative, but will the glorious trip away get her to release her inner beauty. Tibby is the only one staying home. She is making a documentry while working at Wallmans, the convenient store. Tibby makes a new friend and discovers something that is real and moving. An old pair of jeans is the only thing that will keep the girls together. How will the pants give the girls hope and love to have their best summer ever!

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is fun for kids and great for a keepsake!
My husband had this book as a child in the late 70's, and my sister found the same book in the store and bought it for my oldest son about 5 years ago.It has been so fun for my son to fill out the book.We still have Daddy's book to look at from when he was little, so that is fun!I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting their child to have an enjoyable and interactive activity. It also serves as a wonderful keepsake for later on.They have fun things in it, such as "How many steps is it to the mailbox?" and "How many windows are in your house", as well as questions about what you want to do when you grow up and your interests.Love this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars So much fun packed into a happy yellow book!
I had wonderful memories of this book as a child and wanted to bestow the same on my three year old. We've have great fun counting spoons, talking about our favorite animals, and getting quirky autographs (i.e., a man over 6'3"). A classic. Great family time too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for small children
I wish I had had this book when my son was little. It is a great book for small children to learn from and to tell about themselves at the same time.I plan to use portions of it to base a scrapbook on to give to the small children in my family so they can create their very own memory book about themselves. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars (young) Man V. Dinosaur (who bakes with aplomb)
It would take a human being with the sense of humor of a bowl of moldy tapioca not to find "Edwina: The Dinosaur Who Didn't Know She Was Extinct" one of the funniest picture books of the year.I mean, I resisted reviewing it.Mo Willems needs no introduction any longer. His misleadingly simple style is what it is, as it is, as it shall be evermore.Basically, he does not need my help promoting his books. That doesn't mean, though, that it's not fun to do.Now the man in question has tried his hand on the standard large-animal-who's-friends-with-kids genre. You can keep you Cliffords and your Dannys with their dinosaurs, though.Color me an Edwina fan through and through (and that goes double for her chocolate chip cookies).
4-0 out of 5 stars Everybody loves Edwina...
Everybody in town loves Edwina, the dinosaur. And why wouldn't they? She's helpful and charming and winsome and makes great chocolate chip cookies. But smarty-pants Reginald von Hoobie-Doobie is very irritated that nobody -- least of all Edwina herself -- realizes that dinosaurs are extinct. And so he sets out to disprove Edwina's existence. While this book isn't as silly as the Pigeon series or Knuffle Bunny, "Edwina" is a solid read-aloud that will be enjoyed by children ages 4-6. And adults will appreciate the subtle humor in Willem's illustrations.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love Mo Willems!
As always Willems is amazing!I haven't read a book of his yet that has dissapointed me, there is always humour and a certain degree of whimsy to his books. Here the story is about one boy who is determined to convince the rest of the world that their beloved Edwina the Dinosaur is supposed to be extinct.

The seventh book in Lemony Snicket's splendidly gloomy Series of Unfortunate Events shadowsthe three Baudelaire orphans as they plummet headlong into their next misadventure. Mr. Poe, theirineffective legal guardian, having exhausted all options for finding them a new home with relatives(including their 19th cousin), sadly entrusts his young charges' fate to a progressive guardian program formedwith the premise "It takes a village to raise a child." 5-0 out of 5 stars Misfortune Comes Again
This book might be one of the most important books of the series so far. Why? Well, first of all it is the last book in the series that Mr. Poe (see book 1) sends the baudelaires to another guardian. Everyone figures out that there really is a Count Olaf (who is the bad guy). To try to get away from Count Olaf the Baudelaire's have to live in a village that is ruled by a bunch of old people and do chores for everybody in the village. They stay at their friend Hector's house (the janitor of the town) and stumble upon a poem by Isadora Quagmire who is an old friend of the baudeliares and has a great fortune too. The baudelaires found out that Count Olaf hid her and her brothers in the same town. The council members catch Count Olaf but it's not really him he just looks like Count Olaf. Now the Baudelaire's have to find their friends and make sure the fake Count Olaf (who is totally innocent) doesn't get burned at the stake. During the story the Baudelaire children get accused of killing the fake Count Olaf and they are to be burned at the stake. Will they be sent to their death in roaring flames or will they escape? You will have to read to find out.

Dear Reader,
4-0 out of 5 stars seventh verse, same as the first
Thus begins the seventh book in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Baudelaire orphans have escaped the evil Count Olaf once again and are back with Mr. Poe who is looking to find a new guardian and home for the three children.Where six previous guardians have failed the children in a variety of ways it is decided that a village will be able to do a better job raising the children than an individual.Following the clue "V.F.D" the children select the village of V.F.D. to make their home and hopefully rescue the two Quagmire Triplets. The Village of Fowl Devotees is, of course, nothing like what they had hoped and does not obviously hold the clue they need to find their friends. The village immediately puts the three children to work and Violet, Sunny, and Klaus struggle under the restrictions of the village.

Mistress Mary is quite contrary until she helps her garden grow. Along the way, she manages to cure her sickly cousin Colin, who is every bit as imperious as she. These two are sullen little peas in a pod, closed up in a gloomy old manor on the Yorkshire moors of England, until a locked-up garden captures their imaginations and puts the blush of a wild rose in their cheeks; "It was the sweetest, most mysterious-looking place any one could imagine. The high walls which shut it in were covered with the leafless stems of roses which were so thick, that they matted together.... 'No wonder it is still,' Mary whispered. 'I am the first person who has spoken here for ten years.'" As new life sprouts from the earth, Mary and Colin's sour natures begin to sweeten. 5-0 out of 5 stars All Time Favorite
The Secret Garden, along with A Little Princess, also by Frances Hodgson Burnett, is one of my favorite books from childhood. I still enjoy reading this book as an adult and reliving the fairy tale of two young children who "bloom" and grow, along with the garden. The metaphor is simple, but the charm and beauty of this tale make it a classic. I can't wait until my two daughters are old enough to enjoy it. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Secret Garden
When the little, frail, ugly looking girl from India came to the manor she looked so sad.I watched her at first from a distance, as she was so cold to everyone she came into contact with.I heard one of the gardeners say that her parents had died and she now had to live here, in the Misselthwaite Manor. The Manor has miles of nothing but moor.I think it is heaven with nothing but open land to fly through. It is beautiful, but not all see it like this, especially little miss Mary.

Editorial Review

Poor Horton. Dr. Seuss's kindly elephant is persuaded to sit on an egg while its mother, the good-for-nothing bird lazy Maysie, takes a break. Little does Horton know that Maysie is setting off for a permanent vacation in Palm Springs. He waits, and waits, never leaving his precarious branch, even through a freezing winter and a spring that's punctuated by the insults of his friends. ("They taunted. They teased him. They yelled 'How Absurd! Old Horton the Elephant thinks he's a bird!'") Further indignities await, but Horton has the patience of Job--from whose story this one clearly derives--and he is rewarded in the end by the surprise birth of... an elephant-bird. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Horton is Always a Good Choice
I grew up listening to this book on a record. These days, rhymes, like Mother Goose, are not taught in school or pre school like they once were.I teach ELL but even English speakers are having more difficulty with hearing rhymes which has a direct correlation to their phonemic awarness development. This is one of the major components of pre-reading readiness.Horton also is a good example of empathy and we certainly could use more of this in our public schools among the students!

Hacton the Elephant and the egg and that lazy momma bird.Oh momma bird just waiting to tricksome animal into watching her egg .Then comes Mr,Elephant .Oh poor Mr.Elephant gets stuck sitting on a tree for months. This book is a real good book .I would give it a thumbs up.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best of the Seuss books in my opinion
Horton Hatches the egg was one of my favourite books when I was a child and it is lovely to be able to read it to my children and it has become one of their favourite too. I certainly prefer this one to many of the Seuss books available (I have never been a huge fan of Cat in the hat or Green Eggs and Ham) This one has a hugely appealing story.

4-0 out of 5 stars The scary, the funny, and the just plain weird
Take some excellent, renowmed writers, have them write a collection of stories for kids, and this is what you get.An eclectic, fun, sometimes creepy mix of tales that those of all ages are likely to enjoy.
5-0 out of 5 stars sweet
The general impression is that it's a collection of stories that the authors would have like to read when they were kids. Some of them may be scary to the announced age group (4-7) but most are just sweet. For the adult many of them will remind the reader how it was to be a kid. And for the kid, this will make them feel vindicated for many injustices they suffer, like the loud mean boy that everybody likes, over-controlling parents, and having to play sports when they really don't want to.
5-0 out of 5 stars Enertaining
The collection of stories is a must read for fans of intelligent young adult stories. Even the introduction, by Lemony Snicket, poking fun of books that are more mundane (with a terrific nod to Harry Potter) is a great read. I liked Gaiman's and Hornby's stories. ... Read more

Ever since Mark's parents died, he has been living with Bryon. The boys are more like brothers than mere friends. They've been inseparable--until recently. Something seems to be changing between them, and Bryon can't figure it out. Is it Cathy, Bryon's new girlfriend? Is Mark jealous? Bryon is also tired of the street fighting, but Mark seems unable to quit. And where is Mark getting all of that money? In Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars That was then , this is now
The theme of the story "This was then this is now" is changed throughout the story the boys Mark and Bryon seem to be in school and walking down the streets most of the time and wondering anywhere there situation is. The aspect of the story I personally liked was that Mark and Bryon are in different situations, like Bryon has a girlfriend that mark and is constantly getting into street fights and mark is jealous of Bryon having a girlfriend. And at the same time mark seems to be coming up with money and can't control himself and won't seem to quit most of the time. The aspects that weren't so interesting to me were that Bryon gets into street fights the were caused by the stupidest things and doesn't want to resolve the problems he just wants to fight all the time and he gets tired of fighting already. I think that images that Hinton put out were very persuading to the person whose reading the book, because he said how Bryon sticks up for mark in a fight and how there on the streets dealing with the problems, I also thought that the main characters were believable because I would think the boys were just the typical best friends that get in to situations that the boys get into in the story. The story was an adventure that two best friends have in a lifetime.

As a 7th Grade Language Arts teacher in search ofgood book for my students, I hit a home run with this one.Wow! Powerful!
5-0 out of 5 stars Another outstanding novel about teen boys in trouble
When I was in tenth grade, my English teacher read "The Outsiders" by S. E. Hinton to the class. I loved the book so much that I reread it one year later and consider it one of the best examples of fiction about teenagers. While this book isn't quite the caliber of "Outsiders" it is another excellent novel about teenagers experiencing troubles.

Barnyard Dance! & Pajama Time! are a couple of our all time favorites. Excellent and fun!Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs is just OK in my opinion and that's why this group of books received a 4 star rating instead of 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Barnyard is Best Boynton Book!
We (my one year old) daughter and I love the Barnyard Dance! She actually started liking the book when she was about 9 months. I borrowed it from the public library, thought it was the best Boynton book ever and asked for it for Christmas. The number two choice, in my opinion is "One, Two, Three."

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Baby Books, Great Memories
We received Barnyard Dance! and Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs! when our son was born.We started reading them to him before he could talk. There is a wonderful, enchanting way that Boynton uses words and drawings to create an exciting connection for young children. In addition, I will remember until the day I die the joy of my son pointing at words or characters as I read the text with enthusiastic expression.Six years later, our daughter was born and we renewed our connection with Boynton's books with the same heart-warming experience. These are simply great pre-reader books. Both my wife and I recommended them and we have given sets to friends who have also found them to be fun and joy-full. ... Winter of the Ice Wizard is an exciting book you should read it. It starts here, The wizard has lost his eye and his heart. So he only has one eyeball left. On their way they met fate sisters who wove cloth to make story's. Annie asked them what the first story was about. The fate sisters said: "Oh that is a sad story". "It all starts here: "The wizard had a beatiful daughter, One day he asked her to leave him forever, She cried but she did what he ordered, She found the water world and she was then turned into a swan. I will leave the story so find out more in this story yourself. At the end he got his eyeball but still could not see but when he almosts destroys them Kathleen and Teddy boght back his daghter and she gives back his heart, And then he can see! And also the wolf's become Merlin and Morgen. My opinion is that girls 6+ and boys 7+ will enjoy this.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ashley's favorite book
The Hostile Hospital by Lemony Snicket was a great book in my opinion. This book is about three Baudelaires named Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. I liked this book because it was an adventure story. This story made me not want to put the book down.My favorite part was when they were running from the shopkeeper of the Last Chance General Store and the mailman that was delivering the paper. They snuck out of the store and got into the V. F. D.'s van.V.F.D means "Volunteers Fighting Disease." I read this book, and I think you should too!

5-0 out of 5 stars A New Turn of Events.
Dear Reader,
5-0 out of 5 stars Lemony Snicket breaks the formula and succeeds
The first seven books of A Series of Unfortunate Events followed the same formula. The Baudelaire Orphans are with the banker Mr. Poe until he can find a new relative willing to care for the siblings. Things go badly and the evil Count Olaf shows up with another nefarious plan to kidnap the children and somehow steal their inheritance. In the end they get away and Olaf is on the run from the authorities. The ending of The Vile Village changes this. The Baudelaires are on the run, suspected of the murder of Count Olaf despite the fact that he isn't dead and that there is no way they could have committed the non-existent crime. The Hostile Hospital opens with the orphans trying to find a place where they can learn about VFD, the Quagmire triplets, and some clue that will help keep them safe and stop Count Olaf from coming after them ever again. This time there is no Mr. Poe and no new distant relative to live with. Count Olaf is in much less of this book than we have come to expect, though he and his cronies play major roles in instigating the action.

"She was homeschooling gone amok." "She was an alien." "Her parents werecircus acrobats." These are only a few of the theories concocted to explainStargirl Caraway, a new 10th grader at Arizona's Mica Area High School who wearspioneer dresses and kimonos to school, strums a ukulele in the cafeteria, laughswhen there are no jokes, and dances when there is no music. The whole school, not exactly a"hotbed of nonconformity," is stunned by her, including our 16-year-old narratorLeo Borlock: "She was elusive. She was today. She was tomorrow. She was thefaintest scent of a cactus flower, the flitting shadow of an elf owl."Read more
