becoming a movie!!!
i really adored this book and the 3rd book is taking much to long to come out! I have heard that Mel Gibson recently picked up these books as a screen play. He is making a movie out of this! I for one, cannot wait to here more about it, but since the third isnt out yet, ill have to wait even longer.

one in a million
one of the best follow up books ever written.Lies, secrets, and friendship what else could you have in a story like this. The story will keep you dancing on your toes all the way through the book. If you have read the first book A Great and Terrible Beauty you will know that this book will be as good as the first.

An Excellent Sequel
Sequels are tricky and they're famous for not living up to an original- either the writer will try to rehash what was successful in the original, in which case the result is too often boring a second time around; or she'll attempt to take thestory into a different place and risks not being true to the initial characters and situations. Libba Bray does both- she brings her story forward while remaining true to what made the first novel good.

How I Became A Pirate
Wonderful illustrations and a cute story with a message for children. Cleverly written in a way that prompts little would-be pirates to chime in!

My daughter, the pirate
Vibrant pictures, plenty of opportunity to attempt the personage of a pirate, and touches on things near and dear to my daughter's heart: stories at bed time, table manners (not so much), soccer and brushing your teeth.She loves it so I love it, too.

Good Stuff, Good Stuff
I read this book to my English Language Learner first graders and got rave reviews. The illustrations (by David Shannon of "No, David" fame... another winner) are dynamic and eye-catching, and the text is at once both comprehensible and exciting.

my daughters and I really enjoy this book!
We`ve had this book for over 3 years now, and my 5 year old daughter, loves to look at it over and over again, and beleive me, everytime we read it, a different story develops or we discover something we had`t seen before. Now I have started reading it with my 2 year old, and she too is facinated by it, it has helped her with her vocabulary.

WOW.This is a very unique, wordless picture book that can be used for presenting the strategy of teaching students how to include details in writing by expanding ideas.

Dr. Seuss is great...
The other review complaining about how it is shortened is just silly. Yes, the original is longer and my toddler finds it more entertaining- but when we first got this board book, ds wanted to read it several times a day. He still likes it read to him. It is perfect to start babies off on Dr. Seuss.

Yes, this is an abridged version. But it's not mutilated. The abridgement was done very sensitively, and if you didn't know better, you'd think it was just as Dr Seuss wrote it. It really captures his joyful "voice" and his distinctive lilting rhymes.

We Like Toes, Ears, and Nose Better
These two books - Where Is Baby's Belly Button and Toes, Ears, and Nose are so similar, you only need one of them. And my boys prefer Toes, Ears, and Nose. I'm not sure why, but maybe it's because more body parts are discussed.

My two year old son likes this book, but it would be even better for a younger child.It will be passed down to his baby brother.

Loads of Fun for Toddlers!
My 16 month old daughter is not overly excited by most books and loses intrest quickly, but she loves this book and can play with it for an hour. She loves to bring it to us to read with her, and she loves lifting the flaps and she giggles at her accomlishment of showing us where "baby's belly button/eyes/hands etc" are.

A simgeon of pigeon
I didn't realize when I bought this book it is a stiff paged book for small children. But as usual the pigeon brings a smile to your face!

This is a BOARD BOOK - you know the kind with pages thick and durable enough for your toddler to chew
I mention that this is a board book because so many parents seem dissapointed by how few pages it contains.

Mo Willems delights again! Personnally a big fan of Pigeon, in particular the hot dog episode, I awaited "The Pigeon has feelings too!" with eagerness. And even though it is only a 5 or 10 page board book, with very little action; it's still a great book. The illustrations make it. Though I would certainly reccommend "The Pigeon finds a hot dog!" or "Don't let the Pigeon drive the bus!" first, this little book is worth checking out if you have very young children in the family. ... Actually a bedtime story
Margaret Wise Brown succeeds again in creating a story that parents love to read and children love to listen to.
Big Red Barn
My daughter loves this book! She's 6 years old and reads it all the way thru. If your child loves animals he or she will love this book. My daughter bugged me and bugged me to get this book for her. I highly recommend it.

A classic that is a must have
I find that when reading reviews online a lot of parents will give a children's book FIVE stars even though the book is not outstanding. I like to reward five stars to the books that are true winners.

Read it again daddy!
This is one of those books that gets read over and over and over.Unlike some other books which end up at the bottom of the drawer.My 5 year old son is also starting to read the book himself (I hear him on the monitor).The other books in is this series are just as good if not better.
Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type
Great book!I just wish it was clearer that it was a paper book and not card board (which are much more durable for a two year old).Also, would love to know age approprietness for books when buying.

Excellent Selection!
Cows that type? Get out of town! Well, these cows do type, and negotiate. Life in a barnyard could not be more interesting than in this precarious story of farm animals that take a stand to better themselves and their environment. I loved the expressions on the animal's faces when Farmer Brown reacts to their demands. 'Eyes wide open' certainly applies here. This is a read aloud must! Not since I read Animal Farm by Orwell, have I been completely captivated by farm animals.

friendship
This is one of my favorite children's books. It reminds me that friendship is something to value and savor for every moment, and is not something to take for granted. Just as Corduroy was doing everything in his power to find his lost butten so he would be wanted, the little girl was saving her money to have companionship from Corduroy.

The Miracle ofyour Child's Birth will Stir Your World
I know that some reviewers feel that this book is exaggerated, unrealistic and that it gives a false perception to children that they are more special than they actually are, but you know what? I don't care. I read the good and bad reviews before ordering it and decided to go ahead anyway. I'm glad I did! The coming of my child may not have stirred anyone else's world but it sure stirred my husband's and mine. When I looked into his beautiful little eyes mine couldn't stop running, and when his little face touched my cheek my heart skipped a beat.

Perfect for any age
My daughter is just 2 years old and she's been making me read it to her for about 6 months now. Obviously it'll help her read in the future, but I want her to have fun with books. And this is the perfect book to start off with, even if she can't read yet.

My 9 month old loves this book!
I read many board books to my son and the first time I read this to him, he couldn't get enough!We haven't bought Brown Bear yet, but certainly do that after seeing his reaction to this book.
Not what I was expecting
I was so pleasantly surprised when our copy of Polar Bear, Polar Bear arrived, I immediately read it to my 2 and a half year old son.He owns the board book, so I decided to purchase another copy since the board book has seen better days.We both just simply loved the replacement.It was in mint condition and the quality of the pages is wonderful.Couldn't be more satisfied with our find!!!

A very short book
Due to the shortness of this book, my daughter prevailed upon me to read it more often. It's very cute though.

Great for little ones!!!
My 8 months old son loves this book and mostly at nightime. He'd rather this one than the other ones. Everytime when I start the song, he gets fascinating. The illustrations are great and catch my son's attention .......He Loves it!!!!!

Best One Yet!!!
My 4 year old niece loves Don't let the pigeon drive the bus.She recently got Don't let the pigeon stay up late and it is her new favorite.She loves yawning with the pigeon throughout the book.This is a great bedtime book.Very funny!!!

Author needs to learn to be a lot more personable and care about the children he writes the books for
I purchased this book for my daughter because her school was going to listen to him read at the local book store.My daughter had wanted to get her picture taken with him but couldn't because her class had to leave so she asked if I would please get him to sign her book saying that she had met him so she could always remember this day.I told her that I would be happy to.I went up to have him sign it for her and asked if he could please put something saying that it was nice meeting her so that she would always have that memory.He refused said that he writes his own which is always the persons name rocks-not real personal.He said I could write that on the other page saying that she meet him.Needless to say, I returned the book.Any one who can not be nice and take just 1 minute to make a little girl happy by simply giving her a memory is not worth buying!!!I would highly suggest buying a different book by a different author.There are tuns of great children books out their by authors who truly care about making children happy and making a difference.

Not one of Mo's best, but still a must-have
Mo Willems is very popular in our home.Our six year old adores the pigeon books.We have read them all, and own most of them."Don't let the Pigoen Stay Up Late" is the weakest book in the series, but is still adorable and we had to buy it."The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog" is still the favorite in our household, however.The pigeon books are excellent to read to toddlers and excellent for early readers to read out loud for themselves. ... Starting at one and adding zero and all the rest of the numbers, Robert and the number devil use giant furry calculators, piles of coconuts, and endlessly scrolling paper to introduce basic concepts of numeracy, from interesting number sequences to exponents to matrices. Author Hans Magnus Enzensberger's dry humor and sense of wonder will keep you and your kids entranced while you learn (shhh!) mathematical principles. One of the best children's books ever
This is without question one of the best children's books with a mathematical theme ever written. It is witty, charming and fun for children and actually teaches them some mathematics along the way. Not just the simple math of one and one is two; very complex ideas such as infinity, Fibonacci numbers, and Pascal's triangle are described in ways that elementary school children can understand. I couldn't put it down as I read through and marveled at the ability of the author to explain these mathematical concepts.
Wonderful story
This is a great book for everyone.My son 7, who is very interested in math loved it.The only drawback is the use of words like rutabaga instead of square root, unreasonable numbers instead of irrational munbers etc.If your child can live with that, this is a great learning tool.The dreams are cute fantasies.A nice way to incorporate math into a fictional book.I would recommend it for about 4th -6th grade, or younger if your child is particularily interested in math.

When I first got this I thought was going to be very boring because it's about math. But once I started reading it I couldn't get my eyes off of it! Excellent Potty Training Book
My daughter wanted me to read this over and over again.She was amazed and eager to learn.It really helped in our potty training experience and she was easily able to not be afraid about bm's in the toilet anymore.Before the book, she was very frighted of her poop.

An entralling read
If you don't like this book, get a sense of humor. If you like it, thanks for being open minded. It's a very immature book, but it's funny and let's children know that pooping is natural and that everyone does it. Elephants poop just as humans do, but in different quantities. I had this book when I was very young and loved it just as a farce. It's a cute book, but don't hope for a plot because it's merely a summery of animals that poop.

If you have read any of my other reviews you will see that I am a pretty open guy. I love metaphysics and all things spiritual, but one thing that I have definitely learned while here in this world of form is that poop definitely happens.

From one to five stars,this book is the best! I loved the adorable mice in "Whose Mouse Are You?" And I was amazed when I found out that a dog could disguise itself just by getting very dirty in "Harry the Dirty Dog." I'd love to give it thirty-zillion stars,for I'm giggling when I see Ferdinand sitting on a bumble bee!I am going to be reading lots more giant books, for this one is great!

Great Book - so much variety and interesting stories!
My son and I love reading the 20th Century Children's Book Treasury.We have read from it every night for the last two months straight, and are still going!It is so much fun to discover new, unique stories. We would have never found many of these stories/books on our own. Some books come from different cultures. I have only heard of 6 or 7 out of 40 plus books included.With 40 plus stories, the Treasury is a great value. The Treasury has the original book's pictures too, but not as many of them.
Great for travel, not for everyday reading
This is not the book to buy if you're looking to expose your children to a wide array of children's literature at its best. This is, however, an excellent book to purchase if you're going on an extended trip with a small child and won't be able to bring or acquire a big stack of books while away. My twins' favorite book!
I had no idea that eight month old babies could be so picky about books (especially when most of them are used as teethers), but *both* of my twins absolutely love this book -- their eyes light up whenever they see it, and they smile as they work through the pages.We actually don't read it with a square-dance rhythm (not a big square dance fan) but the kids love it anyway.I'm buying it for all future baby showers!

Grab yer fiddles !
My son and I read this book every night before bed. He is 2 and will grab the book saying "barn dance, Mommy !!" We actually will dance with the book and he loves that too !

THE LITTLE OLD LADY
I was impressed how easy the title was to fine and it is a very nice book to read to children

GREAT book
My preschool class absolutely loves this book.Whenever I read it, I read it in the voice of the little old lady.The 2nd time I read the book, my students started to say some parts of the story, like "the head when nod nod".They want me to read this book every day to them.I defnitely recommend this book to everyone.
