4-0 out of 5 stars My 2-year old loves it.
This book does not do much for me, but my 2-year old son absolutely loves it.The book gives him a chance to make animal sounds, and the raised texture of the spider web invites his touch.Of course he is fascinated by the spider herself.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good message, but not so entertaining
My daughter is 3 months old, and she will listen to this story since it is short.I love the message.I would give it 5 stars, but she doesn't get absorbed in it like The Very Hungry Catapillar.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Very Busy Review
I liked this book because it talks about how if you work hard it will pay off. That's exactly what happened. Miss Spider worked hard and finaly built her web. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Where is Baby's Mommy?
My 20-month daughter absolutely loves this book. Lifting all the flaps and being suprised everytime to see what is behind them. Always when she finds the Mommy I say " There's mommy" she looks at me with her big brown eyes and says "NO" and points to me and says "Mommy". The book is absolutely ADORABLE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my two-year old!!!
Hide and seek is his favorite game so this book is perfect. With every flap he says, "Noooooo" and gleefully "YES!" on the last page. And mommy is hiding under the blanket, which is his favorite place to hide (or for me to hide)! It is our favorite out of all the Katz books!

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is fantastic!
My year old daughter picks this book out for us to read every day.Usually we read it at least five times a day!She loves the flaps and gets excited everytime we flip one up.I recommend any titles by Karen Katz, she loves them all! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Investment to Get Started
My 4.5 year old knew his numbers, but when I saw the inside of this book on amazon, I realized that I have not used any technique to build his basics in counting etc., and bought this book
4-0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth the investment, but ...
I would highly recommend any of the kumon books, because they are very well done. The first 20 pages of this book were number tracings. Then it went to writing numbers by copying the numbers from very small text to writing them from memorization. This was too big of a jump for my son who had just turned 5.So we took a break and did the Uppercase book. Then we did the "review" part of the Simple addition book. Then we went back to this book and my son was able to continue just fine.I loved the book, but there should really be a whole book dedicated to tracing numbers, before requiring the child to write numbers from memory. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book That Little Girls Love
I have had this book for over a year and my girls just love it.We read it every single night and they have it memorized.I have never had a problem potty training and this book makes it fun.I have 5 children and each one will potty train when ready.I will continue to read this book even to the baby.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enthusiastic about it!
This was the best book I found to help get my daughter interested in the potty. She loved the rhyming patterns, and I loved that the book showed "Hannah" making mistakes but not giving up.It was very positive and helpful in portraying a little girl wanting to get out of diapers without criticizing. I loved this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very cute story
I bought the boy version of this book for my son when he was potty training.I read it so many times that I had to buy the girl version for my daughter. It's a cute story and I like the rhythm.I'm just now introducing my daughter to the idea of potty training. She's still a little young to fully understand it, but she does like reading this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely In the Top 5 of All Children's Books
Almost everyone else has said it already--this is as good a book as you can read to your kids. Not, contrary to what an isolated review suggested, stilted at all.Just beautifully evocative of a family living complete and joyful lives, with their ties to the land still unbroken.

5-0 out of 5 stars Touching, beautiful, full of love
I love this book!I bought this book for my son (then 3) when I was expecting my daughter.Admittedly, this is MY favorite book.My son would much rather read something silly than poignant. But this book is GORGEOUS!The illustrations are achingly beautiful. The love in this multigenerational family leaps off the page. There is a home birth, love of the land/ nature/ farming, and sibling love. The boy in the story is taught by his mother, father, grandfather and grandmother about "all the places to love."The story closes with him teaching these things to his new sister.Every once in a while, my son asks me to choose the books I like best for our reading and I always choose this one.Don't get me wrong, he likes it too (he's now 5) he just doesn't usually choose it.You won't regret buying this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Passing on the things we love
I am not only a Book junkie, I am a grandma who wants to pass on the Passion. I fell in love with this book not only because I grew up in rural Michigan, on a dairy farm, with my grandparents up the road. But because this book captures the love and family bond that I want to pass to my grandchildren. Mike Wimmer did an exceptional job of bringing this lovely story to life. I Dare youto read this out loud to any child you love .. and not shed a tear! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Helping parents raise an awkward but important issue with their young children
In my experience, young children are profoundly intuitive. That is to say, they `know' some things by means other than personal experience or having been instructed or shown.
5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Has Just the Right Touch
An excellent, pro-active tool to help families empower themselves regarding child molestation. The text is gentle and direct and the illustrations are flowing and visually soothing. This book has the right touch of intelligence, compassion and clarity that is needed to discuss this very serious topic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book For Dinosaur Lovers.
My son loves these books. He laughs and giggles the whole way through. The fact that she puts all the names of the dinosaurs hidden in the pictures for the parents to see is great. It gives me an answer for the inevitable "what kind is that one, mom?"

5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite Bedtime and Class Story
This story adds a new spin on an old journey! A caterpillar too stressed out to see clearly and too ridden with anxiety to accomplish the task ahead of him is shown how to relax by himself! In addition to this being my child's absolute favorite bedtime story,it is the favorite of her first grade class. I read to the class once a month and even though I bring other books, they always ask me to read this one. The class is intrigued by the caterpillar and the bright water color illustrations. They love to relax with the adorable caterpillar.

1-0 out of 5 stars Board book is far off from description Amazon uses (hardcover)
I remember liking this book as a child and I thought I could get this book for my daughter. The board book has been so abridged that it lacks a lot of things that I thought were funny.AND what about that "climatic ending" where the apples all topple - Not there! I wouldn't even recognize the wording in the board book as Dr. Suess's.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a great fan of this one, just not really appealing

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet yet real
Received this book as a baby gift and loved reading it to my son.Now that he has started preschool we read it as a book about separation anxiety.I was a bit concerned that the owl's imagining something bad might have happened to their mom would scare my son. However, I think that many kids worry about just that and it is important to acknowledge this and also reassure them that Mama or Daddy will come back.Get the board book version for endurance as this book will be read over and over again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not near as good as "Zoom"
If you have never seen any books by this author before then I would recommend purchasing "Zoom".It's amazing which made me slightly disappointed with this one.I was hoping it would be just as good as the first but it was harder to follow and wasn't as fun to look at.I wish I had not bought it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than Zoom

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful from beginning to end
As a parent, this may very well be my favorite bedtime story.Don't judge the book based on the TV show-- it is much better!Max and Ruby are making birthday cakes for Grandma.Max is making an earthworm cake but Ruby wants to make an angel surprise cake with rasbery fluff frosting.Despite Ruby's increasingly restrictive instructions, Max keeps knocking her ingredients off the table, and Ruby keeps sending him to the store with a shopping list for replacements.Max wants red hot marshmellow squirters to top off his cake, and his attempts to communicate this to the grocer make up the heart of the story.
4-0 out of 5 stars Bunny Cakes
This is an excellent picture book for young children. The story line is simple and easy for kids to connect with. Many children have siblings and can relate to Max and Ruby. The illustrations are heart warming and draw the reader in. Rosemary Wells repitition of events within the plot make her an excellent storyteller. Bunny Cakes is an endearing story.

1-0 out of 5 stars abridged -- in a bad way
As previously mentioned, this does NOT contain all the text or pictures of the original. In and of itself, this is understandable since the original story is long. But the abriged text in particular is really despicable -- it unnecessarily changes the wording; so random and infinitely inferior.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Way to Prepare an Older Sibling!
I bought this book for a friend that's pregnant and has a little boy that will be 3 when new baby comes.I looked thru the book when I got it and loved the idea of no words. This way they can fit their wording into their lifestyle that best fits them. They can put in their own names and family names and all with this book along with gender.I love the whole book especially the end where the parents along with the bigger sibling tuck the baby into bed. Then, the parents have their night time reading with the bigger sibling who can stay up later! In my house, that is definitely how it works!!It makes my 4 year old feel big and prevents jealousy!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this book!
And so does my two-year old son!It shows all the things that will happen with the baby and his big brother (my chosen genders). It even shows mom nursing which is a very big part of newborn life and I'm glad the author addresses it!And dad changes diapers too.I really like both of the books in this series and we got them both. They are favorites in this house!

5-0 out of 5 stars My 17 month-old loves this book, and so do I
My daughter particularly enjoys looking at books with pictures but no words right now: I tell the story and we discuss the pictures. She brings me this book and says, "Baby!"She really enjoys pointing to the baby and pointing out other objects in each picture (bunny, ball, snake doll, frog doll, bathtub, duck, etc.)

5-0 out of 5 stars My son's FAVORITE book!
My 2yr old son and I absolutely LOVE this book! Started reading it to him as an infant and still top choice! The copy I own must be a newer edition as my cover has apple tree and children on it but it's a MUST HAVE! As a parent, I love that it's a fun vivid book with "newer" poetry. I tend to shy away from some "classics" as they really are hard for small children to get into, not too mention have a tendency to be not so... nice. Example: old lady who lived in a shoe with all the children. That doesn't have such a nice ending if you recall. Prelutsky's book has taken over Mother Goose's spot in our library! Hard to get bored reading this to your little ones!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!
I read this book over and over to my three children when they were young. It provided hours of fun and wonderful memories.I give this book to nearly everyone who has a baby.I'm about to order another for my new grand nephew.I highly recommend this book.
