We received this book as a gift for our son's first birthday, and he has loved it to death!He loved to fill in the missing words as we read to him, and quickly learned all of his nursery ryhmes. Great versions of old favorites
The vintage instruments used in these recordings make these old rhymes come alive.No syrupy sweet songs here.These are rolicking good songs that sound like no others.Please put this on CD so we can listen in the car!

As timeless and vibrant as Mother Goose herself!
I strongly urge you to buy this tape!My children have listened to it literally hundreds of times, and each time is a joyful occasion.Neither they nor I have grown tired of it.The songs are played on medieval instruments and the instrumentation is so unique and fun!The upbeat ones such as "Jack and Jill" and "Hey Diddle Diddle" make you want to get up and dance, while the ballads ("Lavender Blue", "Mary Mary Quite Contrary") are hauntingly beautiful.I have searched in vain for a second volume by the Hubbards, but alas, this is the only recording by them I have found.I can't recommend this recording highly enough! ... I am a great fan of Brian Wildsmith's art, however, this book is not at all up to his usual standards (though my 2 year old son likes it). Furthermore, the nursery rhymes include a number of macabre and violent ones, which I would rather not subject my son to. ... Read more

Definitely a Favorite
A good collection of Mother Goose rhymes which includes "Jack and Jill", "Humpty Dumpty", "Mary Has A Little Lamb", (one page per rhyme) among other classics. Illustrated in colorful bigpictures suitable for the young. Children would enjoy completing the pagesby placing the play pieces provided, like Jack's pail, Humpty Dumpy, Mary'slamb, on its appropriate spot in the book.An excellent learning tool forkids, it teaches basic nursery rhymes, challenges them to infer from therhyme what is missing from the page and improves matching skills.
