5-0 out of 5 stars The Miracle ofyour Child's Birth will Stir Your World
I know that some reviewers feel that this book is exaggerated, unrealistic and that it gives a false perception to children that they are more special than they actually are, but you know what? I don't care. I read the good and bad reviews before ordering it and decided to go ahead anyway. I'm glad I did! The coming of my child may not have stirred anyone else's world but it sure stirred my husband's and mine. When I looked into his beautiful little eyes mine couldn't stop running, and when his little face touched my cheek my heart skipped a beat.
5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, true and spiritual
On the day you were born, the universe rose up to greet you. Share the awe and wonder of life with your precious one. A simple expression of profound truth. A beautiful birthday gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Gift
I have given this book to many new parents, and with all due respect to the reviewer below, not one has observed that it wasn't realistic. This book is poetry, not geography, not climatology, not anthropology.POETRY...And what's wrong with the idea of a super-happy planet rejoicing at the birth of every new baby? That's how it should be.I applaud the author for dreaming big. This gift will be well received.Don't hesitate. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not Age Appropriate
I bought this book for my four-year old.The age recommendation is four to eight. The text is entirely too graphic and detailed for children of this age.Parts of the book read like KISS lyrics or soft-porn.While this book is factually accurate and contains anatomically correct pictures, it is NOT age-appropriate.

5-0 out of 5 stars This was how I learned "the facts of life" :)
I remember thinking this was a great book when I was a little kid. I agree with the reviewer who said that it's most appropriate for small children; I was probably 5 or 6 when my mom gave it to me. I remember it being very cute, and not the least bit distasteful. Half of my family works as delivery room nurses, so I was asking lots of questions early on! I know folks whose parents were so embarrassed about giving "the talk" that they learned everything from kids on the school bus, etc. This book is a great way of presenting information in a way young children can understand, without having to lie to them or change the subject.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pictures are a little much...
Other than the picture of mommy and daddy in the bath tub together, I think this is a pretty good book.It puts this part of life in todler terms. If you are easily offended by graphics, don't buy this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great summer Read.
one thing i remeber about summer reading lists for school, was that they tried to pick the most boring, shoot yourself in the foot, educational reads they could find. almost as if to make people(kids) hate reading? I mean how many kinds will voluntarily sit down and read a book any way? Dosen't it make more sense to make everyone read 1 book that they like, instead of several ones that they can't stand?
5-0 out of 5 stars Sign Of The Beaver
The book is amazing! It is about a boy named Matt who is left alone in the woods to guard the familys caben while his dad goes to bring the rest of the family to the caben. If you like realistick fictionthis is a great book for you it is writtin by Elizabeth Speare who is also the auther of The Witch OfBlackbird Pond.

3-0 out of 5 stars Umm..........
What a life that Lemony Snicket has. I loved the format of this book. It was like a newspaper artical at first.I didn't think it was that interesting. I mean peoples lives are interesting its just i couldn't get into it. I love all of this other books just not this one. This book tell about the life of Lemony Snicket.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every sentence hides a secret!
Seriously, after about five pages into this book, you'll feel like you're reading a coded message from one spy to another. Like a previous reviewer said, it's best to read this after reading a lot of the other books (I would try up to Hostile Hospital) so you can understand it.I began to read this after Austere Academy and I regretted buying it.Then, after reading the other books, I gave this a shot, and it was so much more easy to read!!So much is revealed, but also so many more questions are raised.I have the paperback edition, but I think I'll get the hardcover, cause that reversable cover sound GREAT!!!! If you are a fan of A Series of Unfortunate Events, pick this up!

5-0 out of 5 stars You really don't want to read this....
i know some people have said that you shouldnt read this until further on it the series but keep in mind that this book was published before a lot of the series. so read it WHILE you're reading the series and you'll catch on to all the little clues and hints. i can't wait until the book with the letters from beatrice comes out, she is more important than just the dedication lines. Keep in mind, Lemony has a lot up his sleeves for the last book...

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best pieces in children's lit.
The four Darling children are taken to the fantastical world Never Land by the mischievious Peter Pan,who first appeared in their window a short time before. PETER PAN is considered by many a fairy tale, and as in all the finest fairy tales, there is an underlying darkness left out of the Disney versions. There is also a bittersweet depth beneath the whimsy of the story, which Disney seems to have forgotten to add. If you have exposed a child to the cheesy Disney musical, show them the real magic of the story by reading them the book. Trust me. You won't regret it. This a book the whole family can enjoy. Read it for yourself too. Happy Birthday,Peter!
4-0 out of 5 stars very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one of the best books I have read!I thought boring, but when I started I could not stop reading it!This book is for a child that loves adventures.

5-0 out of 5 stars enchanting, haunting
yes, I used the word haunting to describe this book, thats because, well, it is. The book has many metaphores for death, youth, and evil. Death is metaphored in many places, such as Mrs. Darlings fear for her children, and also in the crocodile, with his ticking down until the day we all die.

5-0 out of 5 stars Growing up on Fried worms
Of all the books I have read in school (required and for pleasure) the one book that I remember reading and consider to be trademark of my youth was How to Eat Fried Worms.
5-0 out of 5 stars Haha, I remember this.
When I was in elementary school, I remember reading this book. It's stomach-turning but it definitely appealed to me when I was younger. I highly reccomend it for kids.

4-0 out of 5 stars DANiELLE'S REViEW
How To Eat Fried Worms?! Ewww!! Doesn't that sound disgusting! This was a great book that was very interseting and humorous. This book is about a boy who is dared to eat worms for a certain amount of money. Some of his friends who dared him to eat the worms took him to a carnival and tried to brain-wash him. If they got him to forget about the worms before 12'o clockhe would have to pay his friends money for not doing it. the boy comes home and his mom wakes him up and says ''Dont you have to eat two worms?'' The boy autimatIcally ran down into the back yard and ate two worms before 12'o clock. So the story goes on very adventureous. I reccomend this book because it is fun, exciting, mysterious, and awesome! That is why you should read this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great First for ELL
I worked with a little girl (ELL) who already had her basic reading skills; phonemic awarness, letter recognition and knowing what to do with words (in print). She just couldn't seem to read (even in her first language) with the level of fluency required for a student to pass from K- to First grade. This book captured her attention and we worked on the book in sections, first we read the section, then she had it as "homework".Each week when I returned to her home to work with her she would read both her "homework" and the preceeding section(s) in the book until at last she could read the entire book. This is the first hard back book, that she has ever read completely by herself so I have purchased this as a gift to her. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Introduction to SA Spellers
This book is a great guide to teaching word study to SA learners. The reading is more simplistic and easier to understand than Words Their Way while offering appropriate sorts for this stage. It gives a more in depth view of SA spellers with an excellent sequence of instruction. It's only downfall is that many of the sorts are a little too complicated or have too many headers. It also only offers one sort for each part of a stage, even though some students may need to work within a sort for more than a week.Regardless of these negative aspects, I have really enjoyed this book and it is a great resource for any teacher's or school's library. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Advice of sibling true - they get better and better
My little brother passed away at just 17 years old on July 25th, and I remember when I first started reading year 4, he said that each book only get's better and I have a long way to go. Yes, it took me nearly three months to read this novel, but not because I'm that slow of a reader. More likely, the story and characters were so interesting that I preferred dragging out each chapter to save myself from moving forward to year 5.
5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Book- one you could read again and again
I LOVED THIS BOOK! It really IS a book you could read again and again. If I was stranded on an island for weeks and could only bring ONE book, I would DEFINETLY bring this book, without a doubt. It was thrilling, sad, funny, and beautifully written all at the same time. I admit, I cried. I did. Some people would think why cry but it was so touching, so beautiful, I loved it. It really is the BEST book I've ever read. I can't say anything bad about it.

After reading this book, I guarantee that you will never visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art (or any wonderful, old cavern of a museum) without sneaking into the bathrooms to look for Claudia and her brother Jamie. They're standing on the toilets, still, hiding until the museum closes and their adventure begins.Such is the impact of timeless novels . . . they never leave us. E. L. Konigsburg won the 1967 Newbery Medal for this tale of how Claudia and her brother run away to the museum in order to teach their parents a lesson. Little do they know that mystery awaits! ... This Newbery award winner is about Claudia and Jamie, two kids who run away from home. They leave the suburbs and head to New York where they stay in none other than the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They sleep in an old bed in the French section. They hide in the bathrooms. They even take baths in a fountain (and get paid for it, sort of)!But when a new exhibit comes in, the fun really starts. The Angel is beautiful, exquisite, and mysterious. The question: is the sculpture really done by Michelangelo? Claudia and Jamie will do anything to find out. I think I loved the book mostly because I really liked the idea of living in a museum. This book is good for all ages, but I expected it to be longer.

I remember this from my own childhood favorites and am now reading it with my daughter--

5-0 out of 5 stars the greatest yoga deck
I am a yoga teacher and I work with children. This Yoga deck has been extremely useful and fun. The kids love to pick their cards and build their own sequence. The love to be able to look at the poses and try them.
5-0 out of 5 stars Backbone of a Great Kids Yoga Class
These cards are very useful in structuring a class for children. The children enjoy seeing the brightly colored cards which show how it looks when doing the pose. You can make your own "string of poses" for the children to do, as the deck suggests, by picking a card from each color (rainbow string), or there are other "strings" suggested (basic string, sleepy string, energy string, friends string, calming down string, warm-up for sports string). I teach yoga to children ages 6-12 at a Youth Center, and I use these cards for every class. We mostly use the Rainbow String, except I often put the partner poses (a yellow card) at the end of a class to close it. That way, the children leave the class feeling a connection with one another. Often, I pick two poses in a particular color group (usually the light green and the red cards) to extend the class to a 30 minute time frame. There are really nice GAMES at the bottom of each card, listed after instructions for doing the pose. They are clearly bulleted, and I have found them to be very useful. The children are interested in these cards, and they like to shuffle them around and read them. They can offer input for class content. These cards spark their interest in yoga. I have many "yoga for children" books which I use as supplements occasionally, but this yoga deck forms the structure for the children's yoga classes. I would recommend it for home use also. These cards are easy to use, and they make yoga FUN for the kids!

1-0 out of 5 stars No Games!
Highly disappointed and wasted my $15!!I am extremely disappointed in this deck. The title clearly states that there are games in the deck.3 of us--2 adults and 1 child--have searched the deck for any type of games. Not a single one can be found!!!If you're looking for very basic poses on decent quality card stock, this is fine. However, if it's games involving yoga that you'd like, then save your money and don't buy this! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Vocab List VERY HELPFuL
It has a very extensive vocabulary list with almost every SAT word possible! (I would say about 99% of all words are listed). They also provide sentences with word which helps tremendously in understanding the word in context. I would highly recommend this book if you need to improve your vocabulary.

4-0 out of 5 stars Vocab
This book's "high frequency" and "probably"
3-0 out of 5 stars My Previous Review was for the 22nd edition, not this one
Although most of the glaring errors found in the previous edition (Barron's How to Prepare for the New SAT) have been rectified, this book is only marginally recommendable.
