4-0 out of 5 stars Im a bird
Im a bird.Eldest was a really good book, but the 1st book, Eragon, was much better.Eldest had a lot less action, and it took too much time talking about Eragons studies, and less about anything else about the Varden or Dwarves. The side story about Roran, Eragons cousin, was more exciting. As it got further towards the end, it was much more interesting and had more action, and was easier to read.the end of the book made me want to read the 3rd book because it left many things unanswered, like who the third dragon egg will hatch for.It was an overall great book, but not enough action in it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Yawn, Yawn, Yawn.....
Well, I picked up Eragon because I heard it was pretty good. I was in the need of an original book, so I figured I would give it a try. It turned out ok. I was impressed with the age of the author, but was also dissapointed on how much of his ideas were not original. Still, there was something fun about a jedi dragon rider.
5-0 out of 5 stars Creative and inspiring
I was partly prejudiced when I first picked up Eragon, having read about the authors age of only 15 when he wrote the book. I expected something much more amature than what I read.I was amazed how he spun such a wonderful tale, so wonderfully descriptive, exciting, and created an endearing main character that had many flaws, and LOTS of room to grow.Paolini has a lot of natural talent and has only begun to explore his potential.I hope he will continue writing long after this trilogy is over.

I grew up with this book and today, at the age of 22, I was cheered up with just the thought of it while having my own horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day.

I thought this book was great - it was really colorful. The overall feel reminded me of the book "Now I Know the Ten Commandments". I recommend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Exciting Book
This book is excellent. If you love Unicorns, and I very much do then you will love this cute adorable book. Mary Pope Osborne has done it again with this fantastic story! You won't be disappointed. This book takes place in a blizzard and it's a excellent time to read a story like this coming into the season.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book!

The first two books in his "Inheritance" trilogy, Eragon is the story of a young man who finds a dragon's egg, which hatches shortly thereafter. Eragon and the dragon, Saphira, form a very close relationship and embark on an epic battle against evil.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to chapter books for pre-k age
We actually picked up a four of the Magic Tree House books to give chapter books a try with our 4 year old. He absolutely is enthralled with these. We have already returned to the book store twice for a total of 8 more and I'm sure we will be going back for more.
4-0 out of 5 stars Son received as a b-day present
When he got the first boxed set for his birthday, he wasn't too enthused by it. Up to that point, him reading on his own was like trying to pull teeth. So I bribed him by saying for every book he read, I would give him a dollar.
5-0 out of 5 stars Magic Tree House (Volumes 1-4)
This was a gift for my granddaughter. My daughter writes: "Suspenseful . . . interesting.Erin can't wait for each chapter. With other books she falls asleep while I read;with these books she asks me to stop so she doesn't miss anything. We are reading no. 5 'Night of the Ninjas' and recently saw a samari suit in the museum (where Andy Warhol is showing) and there are Samari in this book.As a parent I wish there was a little more history in each book, but I think they are age appropriate."

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites!
This book has all the best qualities of children's books:Children like to hear it, parents like to read it, and both can discuss it afterwards.Very positive, useful life lessons packaged effectively and attractively for the grade school and younger crowd. And who couldn't fall in love with big, soft-looking Stillwater and his "slight panda accent"?

5-0 out of 5 stars the secret of life
So of course my senior quote was, "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."Because I knew that in order to create my ideal life, I would have to follow the best advice Saint-Exupery offers us in this book. And I knew that he was sharing the secret of life with us.Following your heart, following the path that you know is right for your soul, is the way to achieve inner peace.Your heart always shows you the right way.Especially when you are lost.
5-0 out of 5 stars You're lovely, but you're empty. One couldn't die for you.
To be honest, I never read The Little Prince, or even really remembered it from my childhood. What brought it up, was playing the game Katamari Damacy. Apparently, part of the game was inspired by this tale, and that made me interested. Anything that inspired a very charming game couldn't be a loss, right? Unfortunately, the first time I picked up the book, I didn't get into it, and left it to collect dust for several months. But I gave it another shot recently, and read it during my breaks at work, and ended up getting quite a bit out of the book. Most importantly, how differently the world is when you're a child- I forgot how things seemed back then. The stars, animals, jobs people have, everything is completely different from how you see it as a child, than how you see it as an adult. Part of me is ashamed for letting that happen, so to put it. The dedication in this book even makes a jab at this fact, asking the children reading the book for forgiveness, dedicating it to an adult, his friend Leon Werth. He instead corrects it and dedicates the book "to Leon Werth when he was a little boy"- the person who became Leon. That alone should give you an understanding of how to take the rest of this book. While some children may not understand everything here (I actually recommend it to children age 7 and up, at youngest), the adults reading it to them certainly will, and that's just as important. I should mention though, before reviewing, that this review concerns the 60th Anniversary Edition. Amazon, for whatever reason, combines reviews for a product, even if they're clearly alternate versions. So I don't know about the minor translation changes that some people noticed, as I haven't read the book before this edition.
5-0 out of 5 stars Not a hat but an elephant inside a boa constrictor
My only regret about this book is I never learned enough in French class to read and enjoy the untranslated version.THE LITTLE PRINCE is such a charming fable and makes so many points about what is really important in life and how to live it that it will linger in the thoughtful reader's memory forever. The simple perfect artwork is as memorable as the text.Perhaps the tragic death of the author adds extra poignancy but THE LITTLE PRINCE would be a well loved classic if Antoine de Saint-Exupery had died of old age in his bed. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars NOT JUST FOR KIDS!
If you want to be transported to a magical place for an hour or so, buy this book!I saw it and bought it just in case I ever have a granddaughter.I wasn't expecting it to be a hit with the adult women I know. But after feeling like I'd been transported back to being a little girl and swept into Fairyland (and I didn't believe in fairies!), I passed it around to my friends. It was just about impossible to get the book back!Everybody asked if they could share it with just one or two more friends. And this is before the book was ever shared with a child!Eventually I ordered 6 more copies from Amazon. The book is so creative and beautifully done.Just thinking about it continues to give me pleasure.

4-0 out of 5 stars A nice book
It is a very nice book, although small and simple.

I can't say enough about this book and others like it.Its a beautiful book, just open the first page and you will see what I mean.I have bought this book for my grand daughter, and wizardology for my grandson, Dragonology for my other grandson, and pirateology for me, and I sent Egyptology to our oldest daughter who is a teacher, and she tells me the kids just get so excited about it.I also now, sell these books in my store. These books are a must have for any library. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My [...] could not put it down!
Both "The Sea of Monsters" as well as the first book in the series, "The Lightning Thief" were fantastic books that my eleven-year old son could not put down.He tends to be very critical about books but this series is a new favorite. He is recommending these books to friends and is looking forward to Riordan's next edition. "The Sea of Monsters" has also peaked his interest in mythology. I recommend you try this series if you want to inspire your child's interest in reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ!!!RIORDAN DOES IT AGAIN!!!
I bought Lightning Thief on a whim from a school book fair (I have always been a mythology lover so it looked intriguing). What an understatement!!!I started to read this book and couldn't put it down.It left me wanting more and voila... Sea of Monsters was available.I got the book immediately and read it just as fast as the first.I keep checking online, waiting for the next book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shan has done it again!
I love this series to death!I was super excited when the last book finally came out.I read it in less than a day.I couldn't put it down.I was shocked at the end.I was literally almost in tears.I'm sad Mr. Crepsley wasn't in the last three books. He was my favorite character and I'd love this book even more if he was in it!I have to say, I'm sad that it's over.I've read this series at least three times.I love vampire books, and this series was by far the best.It gets boring with your typical "blood-sucking, night walkers" vampire stories, but Darren Shan put a total twist on it and that made it new and refreshing. That's what I loved most. And the fact that he uses his own name saying it really happened makes it a little better.Overall, it was an excellent book!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars You MUST read this book!!!
I love this book! I just finished it today and I started it 3 days ago. Usually I can read these books in less than a day but with school and everything its hard to squeeze an entire book in one day. I agree with everyone the ending is a little corny. But without a doubt I would tell anyone to read this book. Although it looks like a book that guys would like, I am a girl and fell in love with these books I have the entire series and I am starting to read Darren Shan's new series; The Demonata. I am waiting for the 3rd book to come out and it feels like it is taking forever! But anyway, this book has many surprises and unexpected events. I don't want to blow the big question who is the Lord of Shadows? Darren or Steve? But I will say that Vancha apparently did not die because over the 2 years after the Lord is revealed Evanna get pregnant with Vancha and his brother. I must say this book will keep you wanting more! I actually cried when I finished the book because I loved the whole series and for it to end they way it did makes me dissappointed. But I have been on Darren's site and he said after the 10 book series of The Demonata (which I must say is a great series for anyone who loved Cirque Du Freak)he MIGHT write a 2nd season to the Cirque Du Freak books but nothing is a deffinate. All I can really say is READ THIS BOOK!!! you will love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars i agree good book sad ending
this is a very good book.but the ending was sad. I was expecting more of an after shock like ??? um i forgot who said that.well this is awsome and very sad I mean im a boy and i got sad.and your right i cant believe its over, it stinks. I mean it was a crudy ending and he is cheating the veiwers. And the worse part of all darren never got to say bye to Vancha daries or especialy Annie. Also what ever happend to Vancha after Gannen stabbed him. The real Darren if you read this please tell me.Now dont get me wrong its by the far best series ive ever read and i own the whole series. Just it leaves the veiwers a gap in the story.I think there should be 1 more book. I cant stand it, the books is like my bible well not really but there so good its really hard to believe that its all over, all the waiting you ,we had to do to get the series it just is not that fair and im pretty shure people agree with me. I hate it really its so addicting its really not funny.I got grounded because i skipped meals and staid way pass my bed time reading, of coarse if you read them i think you would know. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best pieces in children's lit.
The four Darling children are taken to the fantastical world Never Land by the mischievious Peter Pan,who first appeared in their window a short time before. PETER PAN is considered by many a fairy tale, and as in all the finest fairy tales, there is an underlying darkness left out of the Disney versions. There is also a bittersweet depth beneath the whimsy of the story, which Disney seems to have forgotten to add. If you have exposed a child to the cheesy Disney musical, show them the real magic of the story by reading them the book. Trust me. You won't regret it. This a book the whole family can enjoy. Read it for yourself too. Happy Birthday,Peter!

yes, I used the word haunting to describe this book, thats because, well, it is. The book has many metaphores for death, youth, and evil. Death is metaphored in many places, such as Mrs. Darlings fear for her children, and also in the crocodile, with his ticking down until the day we all die.

4-0 out of 5 stars A very short book
Due to the shortness of this book, my daughter prevailed upon me to read it more often. It's very cute though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for little ones!!!
My 8 months old son loves this book and mostly at nightime. He'd rather this one than the other ones. Everytime when I start the song, he gets fascinating. The illustrations are great and catch my son's attention .......He Loves it!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book for nightime reading!
My 11 month son loves this book! I read it to him almost every day before puttign him to bed. As I read the book, we imitate the gestures from the illustrations which he loves. I am only giving 4 stars because it's a short book, however I usually read it with a few other books before bed time, to make it up. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful
I found this book for my little girl, after discovering a Dinosaur and Shark book for my son. It is so beautiful I sat in awe for about 30 minutes looking at it when I first received it. It's not Disney's Cinderella, so don't look for any comparisons. Instead, it is a beautiful story full of imaginative pop-ups that allow little girls to pretend they are in the story as Cinderella herself. My little girl (2 years) just loves to sit with me and my husband and flip through the story. Even my 3 year old boy loves to look at it!

    5-0 out of 5 stars Cinderella:A Pop-Up Fairy Tale
A fabulous & fun pop up book with extra surprises on each page, in each corner.Bought as a gift for my niece (age 6) and she absolutely loved it!

    5-0 out of 5 stars More than a pop-up
This is an exquisitely done work of art, with pop-ups that rival origami.I purchased it for my four year old granddaughter' birthday, but found that even at that age, supervision when reading (and care turning pages) is advisable. It is a book to be kept for years and handed down for generations.A great find and well worth the investment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Indeed, the "fairest of them all"
Aza ins't just plain; she's plain ugly. In a land where song, grace, and beauty are prized, Aza's large stature (not just in heighth but also breadth) are deemed appalling and overshadow her amazing abilities in singing. Abandoned at the Featherbed Inn as a newborn, she is lovingly raised by her foster family. But their love can't oversome the low self-esteem Aza develops because of how other people treat her. When an unexpected chance to travel to court for a royal wedding comes, Aza is hesitant but goes to help her family. There, she is "befriended" by the new queen, Ivi, who is selfish and self-absorbed. Soon after the wedding, the king is severally injured and Ivi is claimed ruler in his place. Forcing Aza to use her unusual ability to project her voice for her own gains, the queen quickly becomes a dictator that threatens Aza's honor, her tenuous relationship with Prince Ijori (the king's nephew and heir), and the country in general. Can Aza overcome her own lack of self-assurance to save herself and her land?

5-0 out of 5 stars delightful retelling of Snow White
As a newborn, Aza was left at the Featherbed Inn in the village of Amonta, Ayortha.Though a baby, she was singing, which brought her to the attention of the kind innkeepers Father and Mother, who raise her with love alongside their biological offspring. However, Aza is far from pretty so as to not disturb their customers; she remains hidden when the inn is open for business.

I loved this book as a child, my sister and I would go around saying the tongue twister name over and over!We would try and out do each other by who could say it the fastest. Now she is adopting a beautiful daughter from China and I thought this is the perfect book for my new neice. She will be able to enjoy this fun story of two brothers who not only play well together but help each other when one is in trouble, like falling into a well.It teaches children that even if they are not the first born they are just as special.

Love this book. Read it as a child, and now read it to my child.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite read-aloud book during elementary school.
When I was in kindergarten, our teacher played the cassette for our class as she turned the pages of the book...letting us hear the story as it unfolded. It has left a lasting impression, which Iwill pass to my kids. I have wanted to get a copy of it because I loved the tongue twister name and I'm happy to see Amazon carries it.
