5-0 out of 5 stars Dr. Seuss's The Foot Book
I ordered this rhyming book to read to my 11 month old. She likes to look at it by herself also and the pages are sturdy and colorful.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Foot Book by Dr. Suess
This book is one of a kind! It's colorful and creative! It goes to show that opposites do attract! I would recommend it for any young first beginners in reading!

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT the book you know and love!
This is a nice enough board book, but be advised that it is NOT the full version of Dr. Seuss' book! They've left out several (charming!) pages of text and illustrations for the Board Book...What a disappointment to loyal fans, and how unfair to the newest generation of fans-to-be. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars good
I love transformers and this book bigng me good memories, is a good book.
4-0 out of 5 stars NOT QUITE ULTIMATE BUT STILL VERY GOOD.
Over twenty years after arriving on American soil the Transformers continue to be one of the most popular toy lines. But more than just a toy line, with some dozen different animated series counting both in the states and in Japan, as well as multiple comic book series, the Transformers also has a rich and colorful history. The Transformers Ultimate Guide covers the toys, comics, and animated shows in this 144 page book that begins with a history of Cyberton and the eons long battle between Primus & Unicron, the light and dark side of the same coin. The book is written by long time Transformers writer Simon Furman. We'll learn of the very first Transformer named Prima, and the civil war on Cybertron, led by Megatron against the unsuspecting Autobots.Sentinel Prime was the first Autobot leader and would be killed by Megatron, and pass on the Matrix to the Transformer who become known as Optimus Prime.A timeline traces the Autobot/Decepticon war right up and including their eventual crash on Earth millions of years ago.
5-0 out of 5 stars Robots in Disguise
I was skeptical that this book could deliver, but on opening the cover was immediately drawn in by its graphic spreads and the marriage of art and type. No one could hope to chronicle the multifarious incarnations of Takara's transforming toys; but someone has. No one could untangle all the plot threads weaving through the saga of Cybertron; but someone did. No one could possibly provide an engrossing account of Hasbro's marketing variations or its Sunbow division's many animated series; no one except Furman, himself an astute observer and able author of Transformer comics.

Editorial Review

One night, the sounds of New York City--the rumbling of subway trains, thrumming of automobile tires, hooting of horns, howling of brakes, and the babbling of voices--is interrupted by a sound that even Tucker Mouse, a jaded inhabitant of Times Square, has never heard before. Mario, the son of Mama and Papa Bellini, proprietors of the subway-station newsstand, had only heard the sound once. What was this new, strangely musical chirping? None other than the mellifluous leg-rubbing of the somewhat disoriented Chester Cricket from Connecticut. Attracted by the irresistible smell of liverwurst, Chester had foolishly jumped into the picnic basket of some unsuspecting New Yorkers on a junket to the country. Despite the insect's wurst intentions, he ends up in a pile of dirt in Times Square.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Falls Short of Wind in the Willows
When I read Wind in the Willows, I thought no other book could match its calm, slow, elegant pace, but this book does. However, I didn't find it measuring up to Wind in the Willows as far as a literary work goes. Why not? They're both written very eloquently (although I did think Wind in the Willows had some unnecessarily advanced vocabulary) and they both had outstanding and lovable characters. What's A Cricket in Times Square missing?I looked at all of the reviews here, and couldn't figure out why I didn't want to give A Cricket in Times Square any more than three stars. Then it hit me.Location!Lack of location to be exact.
4-0 out of 5 stars the cricket in times square
this was a short but great book. i recommend it to anybody. a must-read!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Story About Friends!

5-0 out of 5 stars We love this book!
The rhyme of Five Little Pumpkins is SO easy to read and memorize, the board book holds up very well, and the illustrations are very endearing--the jack-o-lantern faces are expressive and the colors are beautiful. This book made my 20-month-old son a jack-o-lantern fan, and I haven't gotten tired of reading it to him yet!

5-0 out of 5 stars DELIGHTFUL LITTLE BOARD BOOK

5-0 out of 5 stars Halloween Board Book Not To Miss!
Dan Yaccarino captures the essence of Halloween with simple, yet expressive pictures of pumpkins, ghosts and a black cat. My one year old son Ryan loves it when i read the story of the Five Little Pumpkins. He points to all the different pumpkin faces and loves their orange glow. The book wipes clean and withstands being dragged all over the house! I am a big fan of Dan Yaccarino's work, love his cartoon Oswald, so this book is a big Halloween fun delight! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Action packed stories
This is the 2nd page turner from Mr. Flanagan, following on the story of Gorlan's Ruins.I read his first book and now this book to my 3rd grader at bedtime.Even though the books are written for teens, my son picks up the book and reads it on his own because he can't wait to find out what happens next. And I have to admit, after my son fell asleep I had to read through to the end of the book to find out what happened next.I couldn't put it down. The only problem I have is, book #3 isn't available yet. Excellent story and excellent writing, and like Harry Potter, it will be enjoyed by all ages.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than harry potter...
Yea i'm actually 15 but i thought this book was better than the harry potter series. the trilogy has potential if the author can use it. I LUV CLIFF HANGERS like at the end of the book....just makes you wonder what will happen...will Will and Cassandra escape together, or possibly even fall for each other....or will they adopt and learn techniques of the Skandians....thats what i hope.
5-0 out of 5 stars edge of your set

Editorial Review

"When I was quite young and quite small for my size, I met an old man in the Desert of Drize." The old man looks like a cross between a cartoon granddad and a swami; he sits on top of a cactus, and tells his young listener that the best way to get over any sadness is to imagine all the ways you could be worse off. "Suppose, just suppose, you were poor Herbie Hart, who has taken his Throm-dim-bu-lator apart!"This has a more hurried, formulaic feel than the best Seuss, and it seems to showcase a less acute grasp of child psychology than usual. (Does it really make a child feel better to think of poor Harry Haddow, who, "try as he will, can't make a shadow," or Gucky Gown, "who lives by himself ninety miles out of town"?) But the illustrations alone make this morality tale a minor classic. (Ages 4 to 8) Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple genius
The moral of "Did I Ever..." is as much for the adults reading the story as for the kids who're enjoying it as part of a bedtime ritual.Dr. Seuss paints a picture of silly places and people we're lucky we're not, adjusting our point of view to show that we've got it pretty darn good.Probably not a lesson that a 2 year-old will immediately grasp and write a masters thesis on, but a good seed to plant in his mind. And while the deep meanings of life are flying over their heads, the rugrats will enjoy the brilliant Seuss-ian rhymes and illustrations of ridiculous situations (With your bedroom up here... And your bathroom up there!).Definitely a top-ten book for small human people.

5-0 out of 5 stars Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are
This was, by far, my favorite book growing up.I loved trying to figure out how to say the strange words and eventually, I could almost recite the entire book from memory.I still can the first few pages.I don't know that I was helped psycologically, but it sure was and is a fun book!

5-0 out of 5 stars and you think YOU have it bad...!!
Theodore Seuss Guisel is, of course, one of the best known children's authors today.Though he left us in 1994, his legacy lives on and his books are still produced, bought and loved as much now as anytime in the past. When we think of him, we immediately think of "The Cat in the Hat" or "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", but we can easily forget some of his wonderful, lesser-known works. "When I was quite young and quite small for my size I met an old man in the Desert of Drize..." So begins "Did I Ever Tell You..." where the narrator finds an old man sitting atop a prickly cactus in the middle of the desert. The man tells the boy narrator that whenever HE feels like his life isn't going well, he reminds himself how lucky he really IS.He could be, for example, a construction worker on the impossibly rickety Bunglebung Bridge, where workers are toiling over the water to finish the impossibly crooked structure. Yes, things could be far worse!!You could be a Poogle-Horn Player who has to honk away on your complex, tuba-like Poogle-Horn while descending a flight of stairs... on a two story unicycle, no less!!The absurdness of people less fortunate splash across each page, Seuss-like, as Mr. Bix wakes up at 6 in the morning to find that his Borfin has schlumpped over, or Mr. Potter who has to dot i's and cross t's on endless, miles-long spools of paper!Yes, things could be far worse than they are, Ducky, so count yourself lucky! Published in 1973, "Have I Ever Told You..." is a wonderfully funny book with some subtle messages.Written during a period of time when parents were still forever admonishing their children, "you're so lucky to be able to eat those Brussels sprouts!!Why, there's children starving in Africa..." the book can be seen as a lesson in morality and thankfulness OR as satire of those very parents who encourage children to think of those less fortunate than them when they crank about life's inequities. Satire or morality play, "Have I Ever Told You..." is classical Seuss at his best. The illustrations are properly absurd and colorful, splashing across the page in Seuss's perennial style. There's humans assembling bridges as well as odd creatures getting stuck in 4-way traffic jams. The illustrations are uncluttered and the text is easy to read, making it an excellent choice for beginning to intermediate readers.A wonderfully fun book, and highly recommended!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My baby loves this book!
The product information for this book says "ages 4-8."I would guess that kids that age would enjoy it, but it isdefinitely written for little kids to have read to them by parents, who will love it just as much. It's a board book, so the youngest in your family can chew on it to their heart's content. It's cute. It's funny. It contains puns adults will get without making the kids feel left out.It has a nice rhythm and rhyme. It's just generally a great deal of fun!!!! ... This book is a blast (no pun intended)! Mrs. Frizzle and her class travel to every planet in the solar system. The bus breaks down in the asteroid belt and the students have to find Mrs. Frizzle on a very cold planet. You'll love all the colorful pictures and Arnold's crazy cousin!Blast-off to this book and learn a lot about space in a fun way!

I like this book because it makes me wonder about the solar system and everything happening in it. I love imagining what things are like in other places and this book makes me think but it also taught me stuff about the solar system too. This book makes me want to visit the solar system myself.

3-0 out of 5 stars a bit disappointed
I have loved everything I have read by Atwater-Rhodes in the past, which is just about everything she has ever written.Unfortunately, I found this book a bit wanting. She did have a great twist on the story, and I am not talking about the romance part, that was pretty obvious.More along the line of the magic. What didn't do it for me was the herione.I found her lacking. She just didn't seem worthy of all that worship, friendship, and love she received from every living soul she encounter.Atwater-Rhodes gave no reason for this blind faith in this character.Just what made her so special?

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent - Quenched My Thrist For More Interesting Shapeshifters to Read About!
I have read all of Amelia's books - Snakecharm, then Hawksong being my favorites. Falcondance dissapointed me only because I got one little taste of the characters I was REALLY interested in - Sive, Salem, and especially Oliza - before I was whisked off to Ahnmik with Nicias, whose character I found less interesting than the others.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book ever: Deserves beyond a million stars
I love this book. Ever since I first read it in third grade, I read it at least twice a year, not including summer. The plot, setting, and characters are all amazing; It's absoloutly impossible to put it down! Alas, the movie is not as good, and the second and third movies are horrible, as neither of them have anything to do with what happened in the book. Anyway, if you love fantasy, science fiction, or just likebooks that you can read anytime and enjoy each time you read it, read this one. It's the best book in the world.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 and a half stars for Bastian and Atreyu! A neverending epic tale.
I read the whole story through in three days taking small breaks. it seems to draw you in like the movie, and never let's you go. I felt when I read it that I was part of the world of Bastian Balthazar Bux, Atreyu and The Neverending Story, and had become a part of it myself. You would see what I mean if you have a good imagination. It's full of mysticality, magic and intrigue, and stuff that blows your mind at trying to visualize it because it's so peculiar and imaginative. When Bastian steals the book The Neverending Story from Coreander's Book store, he feels he is drawn to the book by some force-one which he is subtly aware of. This force is apparently a guiding beacon, for the book is a portal to Fantastica. The book describes parts of Bastians life though, which really amazes Bastian. Fantastica is a realm that actually has a reality all it's own, and some of the inhabitants, including it's ruler The Empress-know about earthlings. Pretty mind boggling to begin to describe. If you love books that are full of imaginitave and original concepts, this book is for you. The Neverending Story to me is a fantasy world that symbolizes all that inspiration, creativity and imagination can create through love. It's a MUST READ.

5-0 out of 5 stars i love this book
This book is a wonderful, amazing, and truly inspiring one to me. I read widely among the fiction genres, and of all the stories I have ever read, I loved this one enough to name my first-born son and only child after Bastian, the book-loving protagonist. This book is particularly rich, inspiring two movies with only the first HALF of its content. I firmly believe that anyone, everyone, should read this book, along with many other childhood favorites I have loved for years, "the secret garden", "the once and future king", "peter pan", "the hobbit"... well. it's beautiful. the language is educated and sophisticated, the imagery is fantastic, and the concepts are such as could be pondered by most adults and yield a gain in wisdom. ... Editorial Review

Yet more wisdom cast down from high atop Mt. Seuss, this cheerful trio of tales teaches some valuable lessons in humility--thanks to a sharp-eyed worm, a bragging bear and rabbit, a fuzzy-tailed bird, and a couple hundred turtles led by their foolish King Yertle.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointing...
I bought this book for my 21 month old as she loves so many of the Dr. Suess books. We didn't even get through the first couple of pages before she was bored with the story and illustrations.Maybe she'll like it better in a few years, but for now it is just sitting on the shelf...

4-0 out of 5 stars A story with a twist
My family have been happy fans of Dr Seuss and we enjoyed this book, it's quite funny because as a adult reading this to your children, you can't help but think that there is a message in the story aimed at the adults !!!! That's the way I saw it anyway !!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Satire
Greed. Abuse of Power. The king of the pond will literally step on others to get what he wants. Until a plain little turtle below in the stack, his name is Mac, precipitates change.Great introduction to satire, pokes fun at human shortcoming.Dr. Seuss rhythm and rhyme. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Gift Book forSpiderwick readers
This handsome book is the kind of book that kids would sequester themselves in a treehouse and read for hours, comparing notes, sharing insights. It's one of those rare series, Spiderwick, that keeps kids and grownups waiting eagerly for the next volume because the world it portrays is so real, so rich and so rewarding. Perfect gift book for a ten to thirteen year old boy! If you haven't read SPiderwick series, never fear: they'll be around for many years.

5-0 out of 5 stars If You're Not Going to Take My Word for It, Listen to the Nixie
I was not familiar with Holly Black's prose or Tony DiTerlizzi's artwork before purchasing this book. I am familiar with quality, however, and acting on a suggestion from a trusted source (a Nixie, if you must know), I got a copy of the FIELD GUIDE as a gift to some youngsters (who are also of the highest quality).

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a complete guide
This guide has the basic walkthrough up to the Elite Four. But as other reviewers have noted, the book is rife with small errors and stops abruptly when detailing the end of the game. The largest omission is the exclusion of -any- mention of how to recieve the National Pokedex or how to travel to Islands 4, 5, 6, and 7. This is not a small extra area of the game, it is several more hours of gameplay and isn't even mentioned. Pokemon completists will be dissapointed with Prima's guide.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Service

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful
I read this book as part of an assingment for a class (Children Resources for Children and Young Adults). I loved it. I am also currently taken Ojibwe and enjoyed how the authors incorportated Ojibwe words. The illustrations are simple, yes, but add charm to the well told (or rather retelling) of the origin of the lady slipper.
5-0 out of 5 stars a little heroin from the North country
This beautifully illustrated edition of the Ojibway legend lends itself easily to reading outloud to groups of children in the classroom or anywhere else. The colorful pictures help the flow of the story, both of which help hold the youngsters spellbound.Young children identify with the characters in the story and having one of their own age group in a situation of bravery and steadfast love empowers them.Excellent book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ma-ki-sin-waa-big-waan, the Moccasin Flower
This is such a pretty book that tells the tale of the Ojibwe legend of the laddy slipper or moccasin flower. The illustrations are simple and colorful and greatly add to the folk atmosphere of the book. A little girl must go on a heroic journey through a freezing wintry night to find healing herbs when her whole village is stricken with terrible disease. She is encouraged along her route by the spirits of the stormy environment who speak to her in the Ojibwe tongue. This is an exciting and satisfying story and makes an excellent conversation starter to teach little ones about communing with the elements of Nature. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Helping Little Ones (and Their Parents) Grow Sleepy
I used this book a lot when my own kids were small. It would usually have me yawning within the first couple of pages. It is highly suggestive and has a hypnotic effect on both the reader and the listener.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get This Seuss!
If you only get one Dr. Seuss book to read to your child, get this one! Not only has it been helping get children to sleep for generations, it is does not have the tongue-twisting rhymes that make some of his books a challenge to read aloud. Instead, The Sleep Book puts both parent and child into the mood to sleep, peacefully dreaming of Dr. Suess creatures who are also going to sleep, so how about you?

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Dr. Seuss Book Ever!! By Laura G.
Some people say that this book was too long, while others said that The Cat in the Hat is better.I love this book.It was my mother's favorite as a child and she shared it with me and I'm so glad she did.I love all the characters. You can't read this book and not want to fall asleep...all the yawning in this book makes it a perfect bedtime story. An all time Seuss classic that shouldn't be overlooked!!!!!A must have for any Seuss collector!! ...
