2-0 out of 5 stars Freaky-looking clowns, yikes
I just had to say that when I read the other review that said the clowns in here were too scary looking, I chuckled-- until I took a look at the book myself and saw them!Today I was in B&N and saw this book, and I must say those freaky clowns on each page ruin this book.I love these I Spy books, but although I don't get scared by clowns, I do wish they chose a set of cute little clowns instead.Try the Spooky House I Spy book-- so cute and fun!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for me!
For those people acquainted with I Spy books, you know that there is one item that appears on each picture page.Unfortunately, in the Fun House book, the recurring item is a pair of clown-dolls.Call me crazy, but those clowns are downright freaky and they frightened me!They are peering out at you from all sorts of the places and they gave me the creeps.I had intended to give this book as a gift to my 8-year-old son, but couldn't follow through.I just couldn't handle those clowns and didn't know how my kids would react.Again, maybe it's just me, but I can't recommend this book.Sorry if you think I'm a wimp, but if there are others like me, I wouldn't buy this book for your kids.

A cute joke book especially for preschoolers.I purchased one for my nephew also and he thought they were so funny.

5-0 out of 5 stars Knock Knock Who's There: My First Book of Knock Knock Jokes
This book has cute illustrations and big easy words for beggining readers. The Jokes are easy to understand for a 4 or 5year old.Pre-schoolers and kindergardners who like humor and telling jokes would love this funny book. My little comedian has me read it over and over.

3-0 out of 5 stars Left us wanting more

5-0 out of 5 stars Delicious when fried
There are some jokes out there that are so classic they've passed the point where they're funny anymore. Knock-knock jokes fall into this category. Light bulb jokes too. And then there's the best one of them all. Why-did-the-chicken-cross-the-road jokes. Boy oh boy you just can't make anyone laugh with one of those anymore, can you? Well that's the way my thinking would have gone had I not picked up a bizarre little picture book title by the same name. In this book fourteen different children's illustrators are each granted a two-page spread to offer their answer to this, the oldest of questions. No two answers are exactly alike and no two illustrators have styles even vaguely similar. It makes for a book that kids will adore, grown-ups will pore over, and insipient illustrators will want to keep very close at hand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great fun
Great fun for kids, challenging for adults.Hones observation skills for all ages.

5-0 out of 5 stars hours of fun
Like all of the I spy books, this one offers hours and hours of fun for all ages. Some of the things to be found took days to find, which can be a bit frustrating for some people.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best trip companion for a little kid
This book is as exciting for kids as it is for parents.I bought our first I Spy book for a long (17 hrs) plane flight with my 3.5 year old and it really did the job of entertaining him enough.Without it the trip could have been a nightmare.I recommend it to anyone who needs to keep a child entertained and occupied for a longer period of time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
"Everything Kids' Joke Book" targets children 9 to 12.The first part of the book is jokes of various sorts. The second part has advice on how to tell jokes and make up jokes and be funny. My 8 year old / 2nd grade daughter loves this book and will willingly read it by herself or aloud. This is exactly what she needs to improve her reading skills, and I've found nothing else she is half as willing to read. Some of the jokes use words she doesn't know; a 12 year old would understand all of the jokes and also find the book suitable.Example jokes: "what is a kitten's favorite color?Purr-ple";"What is a ghost's favorite color?Boo";"If astronauts are so smart, why do they count backward?";"What kind of dog does Dracula like?A Bloodhound."Occasionally throughout, there are cute little exercises to do, where the solution is the answer to a riddle, like a very simple cross-word puzzle. My daughter greatly enjoys filling these out.All told, this books is well worth the buying.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for the 5-6 year old market
This book has many jokes, but also has several pages of workbook exercises on humor. How to make up a joke, how to deliver a punch line, etc. . . It's not a passive reader, the child must interact with the book--and a pen. If you just want a book full of jokes, pick a different one.If you have an independent reader that wants to develop his or her joke telling skills as well as picking up a few new jokes, then this would be a good choice for you. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Jokes for granddaughter
I e-mail my [...] granddaughter jokes often, the cornier, the better. She loves corny humor. I thought I would have a never-ending supply with this big book of jokes, but I have to hunt to find short, simple jokes for her. I would say that the book is for an older audience than first graders. It has a lot of good material in general, but too many long jokes in my opinion.

1-0 out of 5 stars suks comepletely
this joke book suks. if i can give it any star i want, i would give it a -10 stars. i never actually bought it, but i borrowed it from a friend. i needed a joke book for my anouncements on the intercom every morning, and it only lasted 3 days and i ran out of good jokes. some of the jokes arnt appropriate and most of them dont make sense. if your gonna buy a joke book, dont buy this!

Great light-hearted book.Jay Leno is just an all-around good American. He is giving proceeds of book to fund for families of police officers who are wounded or killed in the line-of-duty.
5-0 out of 5 stars Jay, You are doing all the RIGHT things!
This book touches the very heart of every child, teen and parent. For Jay to have the proceeds go to Concerns of Police Survivors is enheartening, as the children of fallen officers have so much to give and receive in this world, still...and encouragement makes a difference to them.I will give all my nieces and nephews, and children a book for Christmas.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not for ages 4 to 8!
I ordered this book for my 7 year old grandson. My husband and I looked it over first and realized that most of the puns were WAY over the head of this age group. For instance, one of them referred to a song from "South Pacific"; others to one-liners that were popular in the 1940's.By the time the reader can appreciate a large portion of this book, they are too old for knock knock jokes! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Silly is as silly does
My six year old LOVES this book.Delightful and timeless.

5-0 out of 5 stars From Generation to Generation. . .
Thirty years ago my kids giggled themselves silly over this book--and memorized it virtually from cover to cover. The other day my seven-year-old granddaughter told me that "The Silly Book" was her favorite book and her four-year-old brother's favorite as well. She then proceeded to reel off a large part of the contents from memory. It all came right back to me--and the two of us sang and recited all our favorites on the spot. What fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Funderful!!!!
Okay, my husband and his brothers have talked about this book and the Silly Record for years and years. So when his mother discovered it was back in print, she sent it to my husband for Christmas so that he could share the silliness with our 3 year old daughter. I personally, can't really get into it and I consider myself to be silly enough, but watching my husband and daughter reciting it and giggling, it is really heartwarming and I am delighting in it. Those who wrote that you must start this book early are so very right! My husband just read this to my daughter's preschool class and they were all a fit of giggles. It helps if you know how to read the book....I really hope the Silly Record is put on CD to assist the silly-challenged and to help a lot of Silly fans find their bliss again! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Toddler fun
My 2.5 year old son loves this. We make up our own stuff to spy and don't really use the riddles(yet). This is kind of similar to his earlier favorite book(My first word book) which I also recommend. They both have taught him many new words.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love these books!!!
I agree totally with the review from the reader saying " this is a MUST have for the home library ".Our home library has every I Spy book.We love these books.I Spy: a Book of Picture Riddles is a great one to start your collection. As my children 10, 8, and 5 started very young with this book. These books encourage your child to think, to learn, and to explore while they do this with fun and enjoyment.I cannot rave about these books enough because each time you open one up you have a new experience. You will enjoy the many hours of entertainment and time spent with your child as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is a MUST for the home library
I bought several (Marzollo) I Spy books for my son when he was 3.Now he's almost 5 and they are still his favorite. Now, my daughter, age 2,enjoys them also. The books have large pages, each consisting of a bigphotograph of intricately laid out objects. The pictures are clever enoughto be enjoyable to adults as well as children of almost any age.Probablythe greatest thing about these books is that they never get old.My sonand I still discover things that we never noticed in 2 years of looking atthe pictures.Even once you solve the poetic riddles in the books, you canmake up your own challenges.I usually read the book with both children atmy side and see if they can find the things that I spy.It is easy to givethem age appropriate challenges - I will give my son something hard to findand give my daughter something easier.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A genuine four-loaf cleaver
To me, puns are the stars of the wordplay world, and Pun and Games is Sirius fun. Legendary verbologist Lederer has packed this 100-page upper and lowercase suitcase with tons of puns. Illustrations by Dave Morice dance with (and throughout) this logophile's dream, and the pun never ends. No irritable vowel syndrome here.
5-0 out of 5 stars Kids love wordplay and it's a brain-builder, too
The flexibility of the English language lends itself to lots of fun stuff as veteran teacher, writer and lecturer Richard Lederer knows so well. Kids love funny jokes and play on words--why not introduce them to the fun side of English.5-0 out of 5 stars Great for my 3rd Grader
My third-grade daughter couldn't put this book down!Absolutely loved the "Pun Fun" section and the "'Let's play a Game' said Tom Swiftly" section. The booked is marked up and dog-eared. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun!
Laughter and annoyance followed the arrival of this terrific book.I was having so much fun with it that I was sent to my room so I didn't ask another riddle.I'll pass this on to the other "children" I know for their enjoyment too.!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Riddle Book
I bought this book for my daughter. It is a great collection of riddles/jokes which are children friendly.A big hit with the entire family.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but I have reservations
I purchased this book because I needed riddles to include in a newsletter. There certainly are a lot of riddles in here, and the index is very helpful so you can find ones on certain topics, but many of the riddles sound old-fashioned, like they were from the 1960s or so. I assume kids are the ones using this book the most, and I can't imagine that they relate to many of these riddles. Also, many of the riddles are only lukewarm (not that witty or funny). Maybe this isn't a problem for kids. But for an adult writer or riddle collector, I'm not so sure. ... Read more
