5-0 out of 5 stars The book for a lifetime
Truly inspirational.A book to change your life.It speaks of the valleys and heights of life in a beautiful metaphorical way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spiritual Awakening
Hinds' Feet On High Places is thoroughly enjoyable. It takes you on a journey that allows you to see yourself and the situations you face from God's perspective. The book beautifully expresses the tender love the Lord has for His children who seek Him. After reading Hinds' Feet, it caused me to search my soul and strive for a deeper relationship with the Savior.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book saved my brother's life - literally and many others, too!
Many years ago, my Brother, Jeff, lived a very unfulfilling, sinful life.(When I say sinful, I DO mean full of the worst kinds of sin imaginable).A co-worker sensed histotal dissatisfaction with life, so she brought this book to work and placed it in his locker.Jeff did not think much of it, but he grudgingly took it home and read it in one sitting! He got down on his knees the second he finished reading "Hinds Feet on High Places" and prayed: "Lord, I don't care what price I have to pay.I am like the character "Much-Afraid" and I want to walk the High Places with you. Please forgive my sins, enter my heart and make me a new creation".Nothing happened immediately, but Jeff felt the weight of the world lift from his shoulders. One week later, he was driving home from practicing the organ at the church where he played each Sunday. After setting the organ stops, he grabbed his coat, got in his car, buckled his seatbelt and slowlymerged onto a four-lane highway with a 45mph speed limit. After just a few minutes, Jeff's life went black.A drunk driver was being chased by the police for speeding , clocked at 82mph in this 45mph zone. The drunk driver never even realized my brother was in the far right lane.He easily could have passed him as there were no other cars on the road at the time. But instead, he plowed directly into the rear of Jeff's car sending it in a spin, end over end 6 times until it rested in a telephone pole. The paramedics were there within 2 minutes. But Jeff was not breathing, his heart had stopped, he was hanging upside down still fastened in his seatbelt with a spinal cord injury trying to take his life. Needless to say, miraculously Jeff survived against all odds and went on the eventually finish his degree in Ministry. He rode in his wheelchair-lift van and spoke against drunk driving at high schools; he went from church to church to preach that contentment comes only from being satisfied with what one has in Christ Jesus; Jeff rode thousands of miles, preaching the goodness of God and how he would NEVER change a thing about his life, because he now was free and able to walk on thine high places with his Savior.Jeff, today, seventeen years later, three years after going to Heaven, still preaches the Gospel with a smile on his face.I am certain he is no longer encumbered by a wheelchair. But it wouldn't matter to Jeff if he was or wasn't.As long as Jeff is still walking, hand-in-hand on thine high places with Jesus, his Savior..................I can't think of a higher recommendation for a book than this. One could easily and sincerely say this can be a life-changing book. If you are looking for TRUTH but don't want it in a Church-like presentation, this book is for you! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
This book was one of the best children's books that I have ever read.Well, here's what it's about:This is about a girl named Lucida and her family.Christmas {or la Navidad as it's referred to in the book} is drawing near and every year at Christmas, a manger scene is put at the front of the town church.Well this year, the blanket they use to wrap around the baby Jesus has become old and worn.So the priest asks Lucida's mother to weave a new one because her skills are so excellent. She accepts, and with help from Lucida, they then begin to weave a beautiful blanket. But unfortunately, just before they finish, on the day before Christmas Eve Lucida's mother gets ill.Lucida can't finish the blanket alone, but she tries anyway because her family would have nothing to offer to baby Jesus. When her attempt fails, Lucida's very upset and doesn't want to take part in the procession going into the church. She then meets an old woman who turns her thoughts around and teaches her a very important lesson. To find it out, read the book today!5-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
This book tells a legend about the gift of giving. It is set in Mexico, close to Christmas time. All the families are preparing their gifts for the baby Jesus. One family is making a special blanket for the baby, however the mother gets too sick and she cannot finish the beautiful blanket, so the family will have no gift to give on Christmas. So the young daughter tries to finish the blanket but ruins it beyond repair, so she hides from the rest of the town's people and does not go to church on Christmas. While everyone else is walking into church baring their gifts, the young girl watches from afar. However while there she encounters an old lady who teaches her a valuable lesson. The young girl learns that it is not the gift that you give but the thought that you have put into it, and the mere gesture of giving. The author gets the point across about gift giving so well.I came away from this book remembering and understand that it is truly the thought that counts and not the gift itself.

5-0 out of 5 stars A much cherished book
This is a much cherished book in our family. My son received it when he was 3.5yo.He loved the story and illustrations then and even more now, a year later. My 2yo is frequently drawn to this book and enjoys studying the pictures. The writing is excellent, the tale is told with great respect and the illustrations are riveting. We have recommended or given this book to many families and all have enjoyed immensely. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome for kids
I bought this for my 8 and 10 year old daughters.I read the first two out loud to them.It was a great time for sharing what will come in the end.The girls were both able to keep up with the characters easily. They were concerned about everyone's welfare. It provided a great oppurtunity to further discuss the end times. And how easy it is for good people to go the wrong way.

1-0 out of 5 stars Found in our public school
I was familiar with the Left Behind series, mainly from seeing a few snippets of the badly-written, badly-acted movie. Then I learned there was a board game based on the books. A BOARD GAME!! I didn't know there was a series for children based on the adult series until my son came home from school -- PUBLIC SCHOOL! -- with one of these books. I'm sure one of the fundamentalist Christian boys down the street must have suggested these to my son. I was floored that this fundamentalist propaganda was in my public school library. While I'm a protestant and I am open to the study of all religions, to pound this in to impressionable kids' heads (did I mention my son is in ELEMENTARY school?) just amazes me. The people who love this stuff and highly recommend it for kids must be the same people who took their pre-schoolers to see hard-R-rated "The Passion of the Christ" to experience JUST have much Jesus loved them. Sad.... Let kids make up their own minds without scaring the bejezzes out of them.

1-0 out of 5 stars If Christ really behaves like this...
I want him completely and utterly out of my life!!! Please, I beg of you, read ANYTHING besides these unholy books that teach children that the way of God is the only way and they shouldn't question it and try to find their own religion!! Don't bring this upon them please!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars a satisfying, thought-provoking read
Payton Skky's college life is off to a rocky start in SWEETEST GIFT, the fourth book in Stephanie Perry Moore's series. As Payton begins her first semester at the University of Georgia, she often feels lonely and isolated. She's not alone for long, though, as her two ever-present ex-boyfriends, Dakari Graham and Tad Taylor, are also attending college with her. They're unable to avoid one another, with both Dakari and Tad being members of the enormously popular football team. Once again, Payton finds herself conflicted by feelings for the two.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easily the best book I have ever read.
Now, don't think. Do not pass go. Put this book directly into your shopping cart. The series of Dragons in our Midst is by far the best series that I have read, including the Harry Potter books(can't stand them now that I've seen six truly great books, the four in this series and the two Inheiretance books) And this is the best book in the series, by a single scale. This is definitely worth reading again and again and again. THIS BOOK AND SERIES TOTALLY OWNS!!! BUY IT!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book so far in an awesome series!
The Dragons In Our Midst series is one of the best series of bookks that ther are, and Circles of Seven is the best book so far. Dragons In Our Midst makes Harry Potter seem extremly flimsy and shallow. (Which is actually fairly true in any instance. JKR was overpaid.) Anyway, THIS IS AN AWESOME BOOK!
5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
Carrying on the series smoothly, CIRCLES OF SEVEN answers questions from the previous books and still leaves enough suspence to have readers on the edge of their seat, waiting until they get the next book in the series. Never start reading these books if you have a busy day ahead, and most certainly do NOT start them in the late evening! You'll want to finish it all, even on pain of not enough sleep.

5-0 out of 5 stars Emphasizes the spiritual meaning of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs
In the frenzy of preparing for the big day, it can be easy to lose the focus and meaning of a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Many kids may wonder "What is this really all about? Why am I doing this?" This inspiring, clearly-written book urges kids to think about the deeper meaning of the ceremony and of being a Jew. The emphasis is on spirituality and being mindful of God's presence everyday. I especially liked the section with suggestions and resources for acts of tzedakah as well as little mitzvahs.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great companion book for Kids
This version of Putting God on the Guest List is the perfect companion to the adult version. We liked it so much that we started a fund at our synagogue so that every child beginning the bar or bat mitzvah processreceives a copy.In an era where the party has become more important thanthe ritual, this book help focus a child on the religious importance of hiscoming of age.A wonderful read. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Decent Sequel
It's a pretty okay job of having the same tone as And the Sun if not the same unique impact. As expected the illustrations are amazing, and it's fun to visualize on your own. The biggest issue with this is that it only can get its full effect if you've read the other book or are familiar with the author's other material. Otherwise it's probably not the most high-powered universal way to get these ideas across. Great writer though. For anyone in the same boat as Chuck Brown, seek the definition of "parable" in the first available dictionary.

5-0 out of 5 stars Little Soul and the Earth
This book was every bit as good as I expected it to be.Just like the rest of Neale Donald Walsh's writing it is heart warming and uplifting. A joyous read.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for my child.
The book was recommended to me and I bought it. I did nto give it to my son. A child should not be influenced this way. From my perspective it is dangerous to paint these unwieldy images of confusion into a childs head no matter how well they seem to be written for an adult. Children don't need that kind of grandeur. If I can not be an example of faith for my child that leads it down a path that it choses of its own conviction, then everything else is will just be either fear or guilt. True faith we learn from people we love and respect and not from books, not even from the Bible. We cannot converse with God, just with other people. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Biblical Foundation for Right Choices
One of the central messages of our culture is to "follow your heart." From our youth we are taught to do what feels right, to seek the fulfillment of our desires almost regardless of how it may impact other people, and more importantly, whether the choices we make are right or wrong. In Ethix, Sean McDowell makes the case that there is a right way to live in a world such as ours, and the decisions we make should be guided by the general principles provided by the Bible.
5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, Clear Thinking for Youth on Tough Issues
If you do a quick survey of the books available to young people dealing with moral issues, you will discover two things.First, there aren't very many out there and secondly, they aren't very substantive.Indeed, we often tell our young people to "just say no" and that is about the extent of our moral training for students.Enter McDowell's book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A book of saints for the littlest children
Having read the "a treasure for children" review, I can only say a hearty "Amen". Of the over 15 books of saints that I have reviewed (click on "see all my reviews for the others) I believe that this is geared for the youngest children of them all. The concepts are shared on as simple a level as possible for children who are old enough to learn about saints, but the stories are well read and darling. The reading level is also low enough for your second graders to be able to read it to themselves. Two pages are committed to each saint - one for a simple and sweet (but not syrupy) colorful picture of a saint and a short prayer that a child can say as a response to reading about the life of the saint, geared very much on a child's level of understanding and interest. The 2nd page is, well, the author of the "a treasure for children" review described it very well.

5-0 out of 5 stars a treasure for children
My mother gave me this book for my First Communion and it remains my most memorable gift from that special day. As a child I loved reading and rereading about my favorite saints. At the time, I didn't realize what a lasting impression it made; I just enjoyed the simple pictures and uplifting stories.Looking back though, it's easy to see how much this book helped reinforce the lessons of love and compassion I learned everyday from mass or the classroom.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Help for parents and Teens
Sexy Girls: How Hot is Too Hot? by Hayley Dimarco with Bible quotations throughout is written for the Christian teenage girl, and every parent of one will be so happy it has been written in down-to-earth teen language by a young woman who is good-looking and very successful and has BEEN THERE, so she understands what is going on with girl's and women's fashions of today. She explains how what a girl wears screams to the world how she is marketing herself! She explains in plain language what showing flesh in certain areas does to the males that see it. "They are turned on by what they see...Showing off more than you are willing to give is what we call false advertising."Dimarco discusses how males react and what they expect from the way girls dress; what tatoos, belly button rings, tongue piercings, cleavage, and low-rise pants and high-rise underwear of today's fashion scream to men, and how girls, because they have no testerone on the rampage, are clueless of what their attire is saying about them. The book offers excellent self analysis of wardrobe and self-concept and great suggestions of how to put together a look that is complimentary and stylish and gives the real ideas of who you are. The book is an EXCELLENT and much needed guide through the minefield of today's popularity for teenage girls, as well as adult females!

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for any girl needing a crash course in modesty
"Sexy Girls: How How Is Too Hot?" was just what my husband and I needed to break through to my 17 year old daughter. Her dressing habits had been inching away from the modest choices she had been making the last few years. We think it was her getting ready to go to college and feeling some independence coming, and Hayley's book gave her a much-needed course correction when our exhortations fell on deaf ears (and midriffs.)
5-0 out of 5 stars Finally someone is saying it well!
"Sexy Girls" by Hayley DiMarco is one of those books that you wish you had back when you were a teen.Instead of fuddy-duddy puritanical "tho shalt not be sexy" preaching, Ms. DiMarco uses common sense, culture savvy advice as her first line argument then backs it up with scripture.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent book
ok look....justin lookadoo isn't saying that EVERY single relationship won't last.what he is saying is that there is a VERY high chance that it won't last....soooo don't do things you aren't ready to do...to keep a relationship that isn't likely to last anyways.I absolutely loved the book.I told all of my fellow teenage Christian friends that they HAVE to read it.and by the way...my school is pretty small....and the guys and girls hang out together a lot.We hear about all of their dating disasters....When girls call them first they don't really like them...they just use them. Now, I'm not saying that there aren't any exceptions but this is what normally happens. So, stop dogging Justin Lookadoo for trying to help us....
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
I bought this just as a summer read, I've been dating the same girl for well over a year and can say that our relationship is truly different, we do Love each other, and so on and so forth. This book basically says its impossible to do any of this, actually if you ever want to date ever don't read this book becaues it really should be dirrected to non Christians that have no idea how to date. This book actually made me half mad becuase it was so sterotypical "girls even Christian guys just want to get in your pants"what? No wonder the world is a messed up world today. It sounds like the authors to this book had a bad relatinship in their teen years and wrote a book to discourage dating from everyone else even though they said they incourage it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Total Loser
They have some things right (i.e. that some girls are too forward in relationships with guys; that some guys only have the physical aspects of a dating relationship in mind; that the closer you are to the person you are dating, the harder it will be WHEN - and not IF - you brake up; that most marraiges between highschool graduates and under-graduates are bound for problems, etc; etc.). But it remains unclear to me what the benifits of dating as it is defined in this book actually are. Fall in love. Sprinkle the relationship with a little - but not too much! - kissing and stuff. Get bored with the relationship. Brake up . . . cry over it . . . find someone else. May I ask, to what purpose? For the pleasure of the moment? Yes. And for those with a sensitive concience, a lifetime of regret. I think dating can be a good thing if done in an appropriate way, but braking someones heart is NOT appropriate. See my review on I Kissed Dating Goodbey. ( I gave it three stars .) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Teaching Diversity
I am a kindergarten teacher and I wish to respond to parents who fear this book because of the non-believing character.I use this book in my classroom not only for the international aspect, but also because it deals with people believing differently from eachother.Accepting and understanding the diversity among people is a difficult concept for early learners to understand. The 5-8 year old age group especially need to hear the message of tolerance, for they will be encountering a more diverse population as they enter into their elementary classrooms. When we read this story we have lots of discussions about how the holidays are celebrated throughout the world and in our own homes. We all have different traditions and beliefs, which is wonderful. It's important for children to understand that everyone does not have to agree. We can all respect eachothers differences while maintaining our own beliefs.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice but be ready
It might have helped if I had read the other reviews concerning "Santa" before ordering this.My 6 yr old can read so I couldn't edit it. Instead, I opted for explaining that some people don't believe and if you don't believe then Santa doesn't visit you.It worked for now.The story is nice and in fine Felix fashion contains lots of notes etc. We liked Felix Travels Around the World better.

2-0 out of 5 stars Watch out if your reader still believes!
I have the original Felix book plus the one about time, and was eagerly anticipating reading Felix's Christmas Around the World to my four-year-old.However, I had to heavily edit the first half of the book. The main character talks at school about believing in Santa and is laughed at by all the other children. The book goes on for pages about her feeling terrible for believing in Santa. If I had read it verbatim I think I would have ruined Santa for my daughter. This plot point wasn't necessary in order to present the rest of the information in the book.Yes, the pictures are lovely, the real letters from Felix are a delight, and the facts about Christmas in other lands are fascinating. But you can get the same quality in other Felix books. If your child believes in Santa, avoid this book for now. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Learning can be fun
Great book.I shows that learning the Bible can be fun.Another great, fun book for ALL ages is Now I Know the 10 Commandments.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for memory
I thought this book was great - it was really colorful. The overall feel reminded me of the book "Now I Know the Ten Commandments". I recommend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for short consistent intentional instruction
This book has fit well into our training system. We read it right after dinner and it takes about 3 minutes to read and we talk about it for 3-5 minutes. The level is a little bit above my 3 and 4 year old's head so I simplify the language a little as I read. I won't have to do that very long though. The kids like the illustrations. We have been very happy with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great way to end the day.
My daughter (who turns 5 in 3 months) enjoys hearing the stories every evening before bed.I have found it is a great way to teach her about her religion and God.Children are innately curious and love to learn. The stories touch on so many subjects and helps children to understand the lessons.:)

5-0 out of 5 stars A Divine Translation!
I have a Master's Degree in Theology and have been disappointed with many children's bibles for various reasons: too simple, too detailed, skewed in perspective, and so forth. This bible is so thoughtful, comprehensive and well written that even an adult reader will get much out of it!It is beautifully and delightfully illustrated as well.I checked this book out of the library for my kids (2 and 6) and found myself enjoying it in my own devotional times! I am now here to purchase this book for our family and for a gift.A friend of mine has a German copy of it that she recently bought while in Germany so more languages might be available as well. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great decent family time fun
After getting hooked to a radio book I heard almost 3 years ago I decided to look for other Christian based audio book stories that I could enjoy with my son.I bought this for him and we have heard several so far.The stories are played out in a very real and tangible way.We have sat in bed with our eyes closed and it feels like you're in a theater.Of course it helps if you have surround sound but sounds just as good if not.Great for long trips in the car or to just play on a rainy day at home snuggled under the covers. This type of story telling awakens the imagination of children in a way that TV will never!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining
Listening to the book in full theater format was very interesting and enjoyable.
4-0 out of 5 stars Narnia Radio Theatre - almost perfect
I do NOT enjoy audio books - I generally find them long and boring and would much rather use my own imagination than some actor's choice of cadence and emphasis. On the other hand, I loved (mostly) the BBC radio productions of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" which have become long road trip standards for our family.I have never found a comparable production until I discovered the The Chronicles of Narnia. The voices of the actors were VERY well done(with one exception) and the background sound effects and music were excellent and I found the connective narrative enough without being too much.On the other hand, I have read of the Narnia books so I may be unconsciously bridging gaps. Still, my husband, my son and my grandchildren have only read/seen "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" before hearing this set and had no problem with the other books, so the narrative is probably sufficient.I have two issues with the series which is why I awarded only 4 stars:

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for children's ministries
This Bible is perfect for teaching in any children's ministry. The illustrations are bold and the writing is not dumbed down for small children. It also includes some stories that are hard to find in children's Bible picture books. It's a great addition to any children's library.

5-0 out of 5 stars This was a great help!!!!
My daughter Laura was having problems in school. We had her tested and they said she needed to focus more. They suggested that we set aside a time to read together at home. We had not been doing that much. The cover to this book is so bright and colorful she went for it instantly! We thumbed through it and right there in the store, she tried reading the stories.I could see that they were simple enough for her but would also challenge her in her reading.5-0 out of 5 stars The Young Reader's Bible - Standard

5-0 out of 5 stars A story of Christmas generosity.
My husband is Italian, so Befana (who brings gifts to Italian children on Epiphany) is as much a part of our Christmas traditions as Santa Claus. To be honest, I prefer the story of Befana and find it a lot closer to the spirit of Christmas. 5-0 out of 5 stars Childhood Memories
Tomie DePaola evoked memories of my childhood Christmas' in both visual and verbal splendor.I was taken back to my childhood and the story told to my sisters and myself about the Befana. Not only is this book written at a level that all children can understand and appreciate but it also keeps an adults interest. It beautifully illustrates another legend which inspires the wonderful message of the giving time we call Christmas. This has been accomplished noteably by Mr. DePaola's illustrations that although simple are rich in colour and meaning. As a person of Italian heritage I was elated to see such a wonderful legend captured in print in such a obviously well researched manner. The subtle yet awe inspiring symbolism contained in the book make it a pleasure for adults yet the simpleness and vibrant colours make it equally riveting for children.I would label this book a "must have" for all parents but especially those of Italian descent wanting to share some Italian culture with their children. ...
