5-0 out of 5 stars Great for teenage girls
I bought this book for my 16 yr. old daughter and her mind set has changed. After reading this book, all on her own she started journaling and recently asked to be baptised. I thank GOD for Rachel Joy Scott and her parents.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring
This book will change the way you view life and its meaning. I also recommend you read Rachels Tears as well!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great gift
I bought this for a teenager I know and she loved it. She is a quiet teen but she made sure she brought this book to church to show it off. It is a thought-provoking book, very well written. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It helped my daughter's class
This past week my daughter's 3rd grade classroom lost a classmate to a tragic accident that happened in their cafeteria at lunchtime.Their teacher read them this book as a part of helping them grieve the loss of their friend. With the restrictions that goverment has placed upon our schools related to what you can talk about regarding beliefs and religion, I was grateful for this book's approach. It allowed them to hear about the "next place" without offending any of the different beliefs and crossing that line. There have been millions of tears shed this week and there will be millions more before the grieving process is over. This book helped their class in a way that the teacher probably could not have done by herself. And since some of the kids talked one on one to the counselors that have been available, but not all of them have, it was comforting from my viewpoint to hear that the class as a whole could hear this story and continue to work through it together. It made enough of an impression on my 8 YO that she shared the experience with me and I then looked up the book myself. It reached so many kids on so many different levels that I would recommend every school to have it in their library "just in case" it would ever be needed (and hopefully it won't).

5-0 out of 5 stars The Next Place
This is the MOST inspirational and comforting message both in words and pictures I have seen regarding the hereafter. I have given copies to friends and relatives of those who have recently passed on. A friend of mine who is a hospice volunteer has also given this book as a gift. I will definitely be ordering more copies in the future and want to thank the author and illustrator for a job more than well done.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book for terminally ill
I read this book with interest.I liked it but a well person would realize that NOBODY knows what the hereafter is.However, for someone looking at death in the face, it might be of some comfort. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 12 Steps for Christians
Have purchased many of this title for a prison Bible Study group I do volunteer work with. Although I haven't personally read it, the members of the study group speak highly of it and frequently request more copies.

5-0 out of 5 stars An invaluable tool for Christians
As an educator and a therapist, I have recommended this book to my Christian clients/patients and students. My clients report that the book has enhanced their recovery as they can tie their Step work to Biblical teachings. My students, particularly those who are not in recovery but are learning about substance abuse, have reported that the text has given them a base from which to understand the Steps more deeply and allowed them to feel more comfortable about their ability to use the Steps in their ministries.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Twelve Steps for Christians
My husband and I previously read this book and were very impressed. We are both in recovery and were avid believers in Jesus Christ. All of the traditional recovery books were vague in their spirituality, and we could relate and grow from this book.We currently use this book in our ministry, which is a recovery ministry in our church. We see many other people being blessed from it as well.I think people that have not had to deal with different addictions/bondages in their lives, could benefit from the steps/tools that are available in this book! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not as satisfied as before
The book is not a good copy...it may be because it is old, but the pages are tearing out as I read them

I first read this book as a teenager 30 years ago.Its impact has never left me.I am now purchasing this book for my own teenage son.You will not regret reading it.

5-0 out of 5 stars My third time reading Cross and the Switchblade
This book is as relevant today as it was almost 50 years ago. I read it first as a teenager in the 60's, then as a Jr. High teacher I read it to my class, and I'm reading it again now.My Dad became a Christian after reading this book.My husband read it on guard duty in Vietnam, and became a Christian a short time later. It is a powerful book about a vibrant ministry, Teen Challenge, that is still reaching drug addicts today.Don't read this book unless you are ready for the Holy Spirit to "Grab" you! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book of Comfort & Hope
This is a wonderful book that reminds us all that Heaven is an amazing place filled with love, laughter, and dancing. This book was given to me after my daughter, Madeline Renae, was born still at 37 weeks on May 31, 2006.The illustrations are so beautiful and it brings comfort and joy to my heart when I read the book and think of my daughter in Heaven dancing, playing, sitting in Jesus' lap, and reminding me how wonderful it is there.I recommend this book to anyone who knows someone who has lost a child as a way to reach out.I am purchasing additional copies to give away to others who have experienced loss.

5-0 out of 5 stars comforting and reassuring for the Christian believer
This is a wonderful, comforting book for Christian believers. My husband and I read with tears but were reassured at the same time. The illustrations are beautiful and there is room at the end for your written thoughts and memories.I have made the book a journal and special memory in honor of the daughter I lost. It does have some Christian and biblical references throughout that some may not be comfortable with if of other religions.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too overtly Christian for our school, and most schools
I ordered this book for our school community, when one of our members lost her baby at 2 weeks, due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.I probably should have re-read all of the reviews, and should have noticed that the author is a minister's wife. When the book came, while I found the illustrations sweet, and some of the content soothing, the tone was too overtly Christian to suit our school.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good resource for teenage girls
Point of Grace is a popular Christian singing group with a particular attraction to teenage girls. As part of their ministry they regularly have conferences for teenage girls called Girls of Grace. This book is basically a devotional and Bible study workbook for teenage girls. In it the members of Point of Grace discuss many of the most common problems of teenage girls. These include gossip, being true to yourself, dealing with the games they play, and self-esteem issues.Make It Real delivers Christian based answers and guidance for those dealing with these most common of teenage issues. Each section ends with discussion topic questions that make the book a good guide to get young girls thinking about how to apply the information in their everyday life. Make It Real is a highly recommended book both for any teenage girl and for parents seeking to understand, or remember, the problems of being a teenager and how that has changed today.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book for teenage girls
I got this book in order to mentor one of the students at my church. The book was so good that I am now doing a group study with 12 girls in our youth group. The book meets teenage girls where they are, and helps them to develop a Godly character in themselves. It teaches them about things that they deal with on a daily basis, like gossip, relationships and who they are in Christ.Point of Grace did a terrific job at writing this book and I recommend it to anyone with teenage girls.I also recommend it to parents to help them understand what their teenager is or will be dealing with at school and in their social circle.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Book

I thought this book was great - it was really colorful. The overall feel reminded me of the book "Now I Know the Ten Commandments". I recommend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspires young boys
I bought this for my 4 and 6 year old boys as a short devotion time in the morning. The boys loved it and actually asked to keep the book up in their rooms now that we have finished it.My 4 year old will say, "mom, I am God's litte boy because I am ...".It has sweet illustrations and takes just a minute to read in the morning.I bought another copy of the book recently to give it to my 4 year old's close friend.
5-0 out of 5 stars Quite a good book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference for Catholic Parents
This is a wonderful guide for Catholic parents.I wonder about the title because I think Catholics who are active now in the Church know that being Catholic isn't about guilt but about freedom and grace.I can't speak forthe experience years ago, but...for me, the "guiltless" part ofthe book wasn't what made it worth the money, but rather the"parenting" part. It's full of great ideas for building upcommunication and worship within the family, for creating greateropportunities for spirituality and prayer with your kids.I think it's agreat book for any Catholic parent. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING resource
This book is extremely helpful for anyone going through the pain of miscarriage or infant loss.It is sensitive and wise, it was a God-send to me during one of the darkest periods of my life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Gift Book for Grieving Mothers
Looking for one book to give as a gift to a family grieving the death of their baby? This is the one!The hardbound "keepsake" quality of this book, matched with ample journalizing space to document and personalize your own grief journey, beautifully compliment the author's devotional reflections, packed with wisdom and spiritual insights from a mom who's "been there" through loss.
2-0 out of 5 stars difficult to read
After experiencing a loss recently, I was looking for books to help me during the difficult days that follow. I was looking for more personal experience or scientific info. All of the references to the bible in relation to pregnancy loss just did not make a connection with me. I am a spiritual person, but I just did not find this book very helpful. 5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource
I read this book some years ago. I had been a Christian 6 years at that time, but its contents were earth-shattering. It woke me up to some of the basic truths of the application of Jesus Christ and His word in my life. It opened my eyes to lies I had believed that had literally tormented me for some years. It helped lay a very strong foundation of self-worth and of freedom, and as I now serve God in full time ministry I still draw on the truths that were so powerfully imprinted on my soul through reading the book. Like Billy Graham, I believe every Christian should read this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Search for Significance
This book identifies some deep insight into your personal self worth.I certainly would recommend it for anyone that is on their journey as a Christ seeker.

5-0 out of 5 stars Listen to Billy Graham...
This book is life changing.Well, it is more of an in-depth Bible study. It is excellent and has given me and my husband the proper foundation for our significance. That foundation is in God and not in what we can do for each other.I believe that it saved our marriage. My husband and I are helping our friends through this study.I am now doing it for the fifth time and my husband is doing it for his third time. That is how much it has affected our lives.Anyone who believes in God but finds that the relationship is not what it should be should read this book and do the workbook that is in the back. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for encouragement!
I purchased this book for a toddler and he just loves it!It talks about how a tiny seed who really doesn't think he's going to amount to much, grows into this beautiful plant. He's been told that he will flower but doesn't for awhile - he's just green. Then, when the moon comes out, he blooms with such a magnificent scent that it wakes the lady that planted him.Such a wonderful book to read to anyone, not just little folks.Highly recommend!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Little Seed That Couldn't
Jan Karon has written an inspirational tale "of Encouragement for all Ages". Unlike the little engine that could, the reader is introduced to a seed that was given to a "Nice Lady" who intends to plant it next Spring and watch it grow into a tall blossoming vine. The seed finds all of this preposterous.
5-0 out of 5 stars An Inspiration of Hope
What a well written book by Jan Karon, not just for children, but for all ages. The seed had no hope for itself, but the nice woman knew it would grow to be something beautiful. I plan to give this book as Christmas presents this year. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book That Touches Your Heart!
After hearing that Naomi went to Eastern Kentucky University- where I graduated from with a degree in nursing, I wanted to buy her book.I was touched at all the obstacles that she had to overcome.Like being a non-traditional student.I was a Resident Assistant at a dorm for non-traditional students. I admire her courageto stand up to the plate and go for her dream. This courage and drive has been transmitted to Ashley and Wynonna too. They are all very powerful and inspirational women of faith!

Drama Queens!!!Wow!!!A fascinating story, but maybe more "story" than "truth", eh?In any case, a good read.Fast, compelling, and lively.A plot twist on every page. The television mini-series didn't live up to the book.Would have been better as a Big Screen Movie. Two thumbs up!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The visions of the Children:The Apparitions of the Blessed Mother at Medjugorje
Maybe the most profound, truthful, and necessary book, besides the Bible, I have ever read. The call which is written about in this book is the same call for every single person on this earth and hopefully will be answered with love by everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Want to better understand the Cahtolic faith?
This book is a wealth of understanding. This book it not a histroy of the church, or a catechism, but instead, from the mouths of children that literally grew up in the presence of the Mother of God, comes a deep understanding of the Christian faith. You will be so surprised after reading this how well things just make sense and you will feel such a peace in your faith!
4-0 out of 5 stars Analytical and excellent
This book is more about questions and answers; it is extremely informative and wonderful. It's not as personal as I would have liked. I will next purchase "Medjugorje the 90's"for a more inspirational book which has more of people's conversion stories and personal experiences. ... Read more

This is a lovely book that definitely contains the 'aah' factor. The simple words that children say when thinking about God, accompanied by some great illustrations.I bought this as a leaving present for the school that I teach in - it was well received! It would also be good to share with a child over the age of 8.Should have a place on any child's bookcase.:) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great
This is the best devotion book ever!!!!!!!!! My teacher has it and it is fun to listen too. It makes me happier to listen to God's word in the morning at school!:-)

4-0 out of 5 stars Good idea - but geared more towards middle school kids
I have to agree with previous reviewers. This book is based on a really good idea, however, I find a lot of the entries are not really appropriate for my 8 year old.He does understand the concepts, and it makes it a lot easier to help "expand" on the idea and open up further discussion, but most of the situations presented aren't relevant to any child under 12 years old.
5-0 out of 5 stars real situations
this devotional is great. I have 1 and 2 and I read it everyday. The stories are situations the kids can find themselves in. Then there is a question to answer and bible verses to point them in the right decision. I love it. ... Read more
