4-0 out of 5 stars I Spy Christmas for Everyone
I ordered I Spy Christmas for my younger sister because our whole family enjoys I Spy books. Some of the sets in this book are: a cookie collage...pinecones in the snow...under the Christmas tree... they're really beautiful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh what fun it is to spy...
If you're familiar with the I Spy series, you know what to expect in this book. If you're new to the world of I Spy, imagine staring in your fully stocked refrigerator looking for the Philly cream cheese. You know it's there - you just bought it yesterday - but for the life of you, you can't find it. Then your spouse comes by, reaches around you and grabs the tub from beside the two-liter bottle of Pepsi. I Spy is just like that: you know what you're looking for, you know it's in the picture somewhere, and some clown is bound to come by and find it immediately after you've been searching for a half an hour. That's why I recommend letting your spouse have first crack at the pictures. It makes your finding the specified objects a breeze.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best Christmas books....

5-0 out of 5 stars my comments
I enjoyed the books very much. They are a little different form my usual reading, R.A.Salvadore and Micheal Jordan. The books gave me a needed break. When I finished them I was happy to turn them over to my granddaughtter.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great series of books!!!!!! I love the story!!!!!
It certainly has become one of my favorites series of books, if notthe most. It really kept me entertained. I spent most of my work hours reading the books, and sometimes I hated been working because of the interrumptions. I read almost 10 chapters while working and kept me focused imagining everything that C.S. Lewis described as if I were watching a movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars good read
only disappointed with the books being numbered chronologically instead of by publish date.they are great books for adults and children the like.easy to read and follow - creative, imaginative and humorous.maybe too short a novel and too simple for adults but who isn't a child at heart?the rough pictures in the books are very descriptive and makes the books more interesting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Is it a song or a book?
Children will get a first, cheerful lesson about the natural world by becoming acquainted with an enchanting baby beluga. The illustrations are a joy, and the song's rhythm and rhyme make it easy to remember and sing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Raffi does it again!
This is a great multicultural book that you can sing/read that has a great soothing melody.Watch out, though, once you start singing this song, it'll be stuck in your head for a long time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Baby Beluga - great book and story for lessons in life
The book "Baby Beluga" is special to me because it is a story of my favorite sea creatures' daily adventures "in the deep blue sea". It inspired me to want to swim like Baby Beluga (a little white whale whose skin shines brightly in dark places and is gentle to people).

5-0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal Fantasy Adventure!
Right up there with the very best of J.R.R. Tolkien, this book (and this trilogy) has everything any fantasy reader could want. I gulped this book down instantly, and now I've started a second read. There's just so much adventure, humor, and rich meaning in this book! This is T.A. Barron's best ever -- and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. (My vote is a return to Avalon!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Avalon: A magnificent creation
"You know, Tamwyn, you have your own inner flames, though they cannot be seen. And the most powerful fires reside in the soul."And what a magnificent creation Mr. Barron has brought forth through his own powerful flames! This book--the third in The Great Tree of Avalon trilogy--is incredible.

3-0 out of 5 stars Paper qualtiy poor
The box set is great reading...but for the price...especially the list price of $70.00, I would have expected higher quality paper. The set is printed on pulp paper and will not last worth beans and the covers are thin and not robust. You may as well buy the cheapest set you can find, because the quality of the cheaper books is not any lower, the books are just a little smaller and the "bonus content is just the first chapter of the next book and some other tidbits of marginal interest
5-0 out of 5 stars Book or Movie what a ride
I've seen the movie and I've read the book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! Excellent! Superb! (if you like fairy-tales then you may read this review, if not, don't go any further)
The Chronicles of Narnia are beautifully written books. They are some of my favorite books I've ever read. I would strongly reccomend them to everyone. I have read them all seven times, and I still can't decide which is my favorite! People who don't like them surprise me. Not only are they wonderful fairy-tales, they also have a lot of underlying Christian themes.

Editorial Review

From the first day of third grade, when Ramona Quimby meets hereventual nemesis Yard Ape, life moves on at its usual wild pace--usual for the boisterous Ramona, that is. Soon she is accidentally squashing a raw egg into her hair at the school cafeteria, being forced to play Uncle Rat with her annoying young neighbor, and, worst of all, throwing up in her classroom. The responsibilities of an 8-year-old are sometimes daunting, especially in a family that is trying to squeak by while the father goes back to school. But Ramona is full of too much vim and vigor to ever be down for long. Read more

Beatrice her older sister is always having the upper hand on Ramona. Ramona's father is going back to school and the family is struggling just to make ends meet. Ramona stays in the afternoons with Howie Kemps grandmother and Howies little sister Wilma Jean. Wilma Jean is a thorn in Ramona's side. Ramonas mother begs her to keep the peace and be responsible so Mrs. Quimby can continue working. On Ramonas first day of school she is faced with Danny a bully who steals her eraser. Ramona gets the best of Danny and calls him Yard Ape. After this Danny respects her and Ramona kinda has a crush on him. Ramona is indifferent with her new teacher Ms. Whaley. Throughout the book Ramona is faced with problems such as being a nuisence to her teacher, "Yard Ape", her sister Beezus and her mother and fathers tiresome struggle to pay for bills, manage a family and work and go to school. In the end of the book after a much hard day of frustration the family goes on a limb and goes to Whopperburger. While there they come across an old man who is interested in the family. Towards the end of the meal the Quimbys find out that the man has paid for their dinner, because they remind him of his family and how nice of a family the Quimbys are. This action makes the whole family realize how special their relationship is and how even though they all may be cross in some situations that they are in fact one happy family!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorites!
I have read this book to hundreds of children and adults. I have shared it with my own kids and have read it to children in my first grade class as well as to children in the Storytimes that I have done at the library. I have also highlighted it when doing literature presentations for other teachers. The reaction is always the same. The audience is quiet at first and possibly thinking, "Hmmm. Not very interesting." But then as the tree begins her struggles (I like to think of her as a girl!) there is side-splitting laughter that increases as each page turns. As soon as the book is over a chorus of, "Read it again!" begins and of course, I do! This book is a gem and sharing it each year is one of my favorite things about fall!

5-0 out of 5 stars Science Made Fun & Easy
I have a 6-yr old boy and a 7-yr old girl. It's very rare to find anything that they agree on but with What Is the World Made Of? I was able to find a book that both of them would enjoy and learn from at the same time. The easy-to-follow language made it easy for them both to follow along. The fun pictures and odd bits of humor kept them interested and wanting to know more. A fantastic find & one I hope to be able to use for quite some time.

Editorial Review

Seven beloved verses from Old Mother Goose are imbued with a little more"feeling" with this interactive version of the classic. Young children canstroke the white horse's silky mane in "Banbury Cross," feel the dog's smoothred satin suit in "The Cat and the Fiddle," and dig their tiny fingers into thesoft wool of the sheep in "Mary Had a Little Lamb." There's even ascratch-and-sniff spice cake in "Pat-a-Cake"! Tots will love this introductionto the nursery rhymes that will carry them through childhood and beyond.Old-fashioned, Edwardian-style illustrations will please readers of all ages, and the simple two-page-spread format, with poems on the left and pictures onthe right, is clean and attractive. The miniature board book is just the rightsize and sturdiness for small hands and new teeth. (Baby to preschool)Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic for a new generation
This is the book I remember from my childhood, sixty years ago. It was selected by my mother, a children's librarian.
1-0 out of 5 stars These are Some Messed Up Rhymes
I'm shocked to see that these books are still selling today.I had this exact book when I was little, and my mother brought the old copy to me cause she thought my daughter might like to have it.I don't think I'm going to bother giving it to her.I was frightened by this book when I was little.Mother Goose looks more like a wicked witch, stealing a baby, on the cover. There are tons of nursery rhymes, but most of them are very obscure, some only a couple lines long. And maybe I am reading too much into them, but a lot of them seem full of sexual innuendo and possible drug references. One titled "Robin and Richard" seems the most questionable, about two grown men staying in bed until 10 o'clock.I'm not prejudiced at all, but this seems like a very strange rhyme for children to be reading.Everything about this book is disturbing to me.

1-0 out of 5 stars Thumbs down
Most of the rhymes in here are so foreign to me. I never heard of most of them and don't even understand what they are about! I had a hard time keeping me interested. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Jack & Annie in China
When Jack and Annie found out that they were going to China, they went straight to the treehouse. They met Morgan there, and she told them that they had to save a library in China. The dragon king was going to burn all the books, because he didn't like them. Jack and Annie saw a huge map of the castle where the emporer lived and they used it to help them find the library. In the end, Jack and Annie saved the library and were heroes again.

THE BOOK IS WONDERFUL. I AM AN ADULT AND THOUGH THE BOOK IS MEANT FOR CHILDREN, I PURCHASED ITFOR MYSELF.THE RELATIVES SEEMED SO REAL AND REMINDED ME OF WHEN OUR RELATIVES VISITED US FROM WEST VIRGINIA WHEN I WAS A CHILD.I LIVE IN VIRGINIA AND SOME OF THE ILLUSTRATIONS REMINED ME OF MY OWN NECK OF THE WOODS.

4-0 out of 5 stars 1986 Caldecott Honor Book
I am an elementary education major at West Virginia State University.I am currently taking Children's Literature with Prof. Roger Samples where we just completed a project on a Caldecott honor book. For my book, I read The Relatives Came.I thought that overall, The Relatives Came was a great book.It was a great story about the closeness of a family and the joy and excitement that is felt when they are together. Not only was this a great story, but it had some very nice and detailed illustrations.Stephen Gammell's illustrations are like an added bonus that goes along with Cynthia Rylant's great writing. Some books can often tell the story either without the pictures or the words present. That is not the case with The Relatives Came. They both play a key role in the telling of the story.

5-0 out of 5 stars When I Was Young in the Mountains
This is an excellent book which abounds with lots of wonderful memories from my childhood. Having grown up in the city, I loved to visit my grandparents who lived in the mountains of Pennsylvania. It brought back wonderful memories like the frightening walks to the outhouse at night, snakes in the grass and warm and loving grandparents.

5-0 out of 5 stars Warriors: Rising Storm....
There are two diffrent kinds of covers. One with Cloudpaw and Fireheart, One with fireheart and Sandstorm. Last tuesday was library day: The second one. I was thinking "The books I borrowed this time was boring." So I returned them, went to the fiction section and found 5 series of warriors. I picked the 4th in the series, as It was appealing. I read this one first, I had gotten three books. This book is far by better than almost ANY book I have ever read.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Troubles Heat Up
This was a more intense "reality-check" kind of book. Fireheart is now appointed deputy in the place of the forever-loathed Tigerclaw, and he has new responsibilities way beyond being a warrior. His best friend has gone, and left Fireheart to deal with problems alone. Fireheart, formerly a kitty-pet, visited his sister, Princess, from time to time at the twoleg place and has promised to watch over and possibly mentor her oldest son in Thunder clan, Cloudpaw, who is stubborn and disobediant to the warrior-code. Thunderclan's leader, completely shocked by Tigerclaw's betrayal, has been mentally and physically weakening leaving most of her priorities as burdens to Fireheart on top of those of being a deputy. This is a hard book to read but so real that, however emotional it is, you can't stop reading the adventures.

5-0 out of 5 stars windsor jr high school-lv
A lot is going on in this book and to Fireheart its a little overwhelming Cloudpaw is more lyal now than ever and is getting better everyday. I soon expect him to be a warrior. 4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK!!!!!
This books deals great with strangers. It also shows not to judge a person by the outside. The only thing it needs is to tell kids what to do if a stranger does capture them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for!
I think this was the perfect book to teach my son about strangers.I tried to introduce the idea to him myself, but I couldn't explain what a stranger was without scaring him.He already likes the Berenstein Bears so this put a tough subject on his level and did a great job explaining the differences in strangers.I would recommend this book to everyone with a young child and I will be purchasing more copies for my nephews as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun for the whole family
My husband and I grew up on Babar. So when we saw this book we bought for our 4 month old son.He loves to hear our voices as we read to him and he also loves the bright colored pictures. We enjoy the memories that the stories bring back to us.A great addition to anyones collection.3-0 out of 5 stars "Original" art?Ha!
I was so thrilled to get this book as a gift, especially since it includes the long out-of-print "Babar and Zephir."When I began to leaf through it, being very familiar with the older editions, I grew sicker with every page.Jean de Brunhoff's stunning artwork has been absolutely destroyed.5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT CHILDREN'S BOOK!
We have a3 year old and a 2 year old and they both really love Babar and the gang. They love the book and Babar videos. We've had this book for over a year, and our children continue to ask us to read it to them. This book is wonderfully illustrated and humorous.Enjoyable even for adults. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Vacation Under the Valcano - Magic Tree House #13
Shortly before leaving for vacation, Jack and Annie remembered that they needed to go to the magic tree house to solve a mystery. Morgan said "your aventure is going to the Roman times you need to find this book or it will be lost forever""WOW! I always wanted to go to the Roman times this will be fun Annie" said Jack.
5-0 out of 5 stars Volcanos wow!
My son and I have been reading the Magic Tree House series for the last couple months and we love them. These are the first books that my son has taken a real interest into, checking them out and reading them on his own.Vacations under the Volcanois our favorite one so far. After checking out a bunch from the library we finally decided to buy a set, and he was so disappointed that this one wasn't part of the set that he bought it seperatly on his own. This book has sparked a whole new interest for him.

Editorial Review

"If you give a pig a pancake, she'll want some syrup to go with it.You'll give her some of your favorite maple syrup. She'll probably get all sticky, so she'll want to take a bath." You get the idea. Baths lead to bubbles, bubbles lead to rubber ducks, rubber ducks lead to wanting a trip to the farm. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Midnight by "Lightstorm"/ "Lightstar"
At last Tigerstar and BloodClan are gone. The forest Clans are currently living in peace, but then Brambleclaw gets a mysterious dream from Bluestar telling of a prophecy and how he must meet with four other cats and listen to midnight. Brambleclaw struggles to make heads or tails of this dream. Meanwhile, Firestar's daughter Squirrelpaw continues to get on Brambleclaw's nerves. Although later on the cats get along better after Brambleclaw meets Feathertail, Tawnypelt (his sister), and Crowpaw, who is a rather irritating apprentice. Feathertail is joined by Stormfur, her brother who wants to protect her (both of the warriors are Graystripe's kits), and Squirrelpaw tags along as well.

This book is full of action!
4-0 out of 5 stars Really Good Book
This is a Really good book.I am glad that they switched the main character because Firestar is a leader so he can not move up the ranks in Thunder Clan. I kinda wish she did not Brambleclaw bet he is cool. This series is as good as the other series.Sqirrelpaw is pretty cool so are the other "chosen" cats. It has love, action, mythology, and mystery twisted into one. I advise everyone to read this book. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This collection of five complete, illustrated Dr. Seuss classics is a "hatful," but you'd have to have a Cat-in-the-Hat-sized chapeau to contain all the treasures in this hefty book. Within its pages you'll find Theodor Seuss Geisel's exuberant creations Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Seuss
Typically wonderful Seuss.A collection of favorites which still entertain and delight childern of all ages!Told in the whimsical, melodic, rhyming style that is Seuss' alone these stories present the challenges and triumph of basic human goodness that we want our children to learn.I highly recommend this collection.I read them to my grandson and notice that by the end of a story the whole house has tuned in and is anxiously awaiting that heart tickling sensation that comes at the conclusion of every Suess tale.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good buy, but Six by Seuss is better
Two of the books collected here are classics (Sleep Book and The Sneetches) and the other three are also pretty good, so this is well worth buying. The now out-of-print "Six by Seuss" however, is an even better value, since it includes five of his very best stories (Yertle, Mulberry Street, the Grinch, the Lorax, and Horton Hatches the Egg) under one cover.I would recommend looking for that book first, then getting this if your child turns out to be a hardcore Seuss fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars Some of the best of Dr. Seuss
Here's a rare book that gives you more than it promises. While it's titled "Five Favorite Dr. Seuss Stories," you actually get EIGHT stories. That's because there's three extra ones ("The Zax," "Too Many Daves," and "What Was I Scared Of?") included with "The Sneetches and Other Stories."
