5-0 out of 5 stars A good One
It was a good action book, alot of unexpected things happend to the Animorphs, another good into to the Animorphs series.

3-0 out of 5 stars Animorphs The Close Encounter
This book is interesting for kids that like their mind wonder and imagine how it feels transform into an animal. Also, this book is for kids that like to read adventure. This book is about a group of kid that can transform into diffrent kind of animals, but they cant stay to long into an animal or they will stay stuck into that animal and they cant go back into being a human and they have to act like an animal and think like an animal so that they can survive and live long. Also they have to to eat real live animals, and watch out for predetors that will eat them. It also lets know kids that its ok to be diffrent than others that every kid is unique in thier own way.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Tobias...
Tobias isn't like the other Animorphs. When they're done fighting Yeerks or flying through the sky, they just morph back from their animal bodies to their regular bodies. But Tobias stayed in hawk morph for longer than two hours. Now, he's going to be stuck as a hawk forever. Tobias is trying to deal with this pain, but nothing can make him feel better about it. Especially when he starts to feel attracted to a female hawk--even though he's a human on the inside.

4-0 out of 5 stars another misunderstood masterpiece
Recently, I just happened to stumble upon my old book collection and found "The Beginning", along with my other Animorphs books from long ago; a series that, despite the special place it held in my heart throughout childhood, I had begun to forget about.
1-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't stand it
This series has been building up incredible stories and developing wonderful characters for over fifty books. In this book, all that is thrown away.Entire sub-plots (ie. the Yeerk Peace Movement) are left out.Entire characters (ie. Tobias's mother) are forgotten.People are needlessly killed.Incurable misery ensues.Every hope for every character's future is destroyed in a hateful, meaningless ending about "reality."Whether or not this is how real wars end, it is not what the Animorphs are about.
2-0 out of 5 stars Horrid
The ending of the war was satisfactory. I didn't mind the sacrifice and the bringing up the whole question of yeerks and the morphing cube intrigued me. Some people think this book is depressing, but I think that Visser and Andalite Chronicles were more depressing, yet fun at the same time.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not so good for Animorphs
I didn't think it was a good book, it was kindof boring, sorry. It did show cat instincts good though and we got into the mind of a cat.

3-0 out of 5 stars Get inside the mind of a cat
What I like about reading the Animorphs is getting into the mindset and body of another animal. In this book, they morph into a cat, and I think my cat would be very satisfied with the depiction.Even I feel like I learned a few things about cat behavior.Otherwise, I don't think the story advanced much from the first book.It was a lot of recap. On to book #3.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too formulaic. Even for the Animorphs
Eh. The read was O.K., But it wasn't all that. I read this series aloud to my son every evening. A couple of chapters. We have read many of these. Out of order. They have been quite fascinating. Up until this one. It slogs along a bit forced most of the way through. The writing is far too technical too often. In the books we've read the writing tends to be a bit more on the slash 'n dash style. Quick short sentences that lead up to a moment of intensity. We enjoy the slash 'n dash technique far more than the style this book was written in. Practically all suspense was drawn out of moments that should've been dripping with intensity. I guess it is to be expected. Since this was only the second book in the series, she was still finding her way as to where the characters were going, and completing the development of her technique and direction for the characters. Still a decent story, just nowhere near the quality of some of the later works. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent story
Five kids meet a good alien. He fights against bad aliens to save the Earth. And he gives them a special power to fight against invaders. The power can change them into animals. But does this power help them to fight against bad invaders?
5-0 out of 5 stars very good book
Animorphs #1 the Invasion is a really, really great book. Now i'm reading all of the other books in the series. I'm on the third book,"The Encounter". Or at least I think that is what it is called. I even watch the show. I read this book about a year or two ago. Anyway, if you don't own this book, buy it and read it. If you do have this book and you haven't read it yet, then what are you waiting for? Start reading it right now. This is in my top 5 favorite books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent series
Note: This review pertains to the entire Animorphs series, rather than this specific book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Capture
I dislike the Animorphs and am reading through a few titles just because they're penny books that I have laying around and plan to throw away... so I was surprised to find myself really liking this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cornwall, NY Sixth Grader
I am a sixth grader. The author of the book is K.A.Applegate. The characters names are Cassie,Tobias,Jake,Rachel,Marco,Tom,and Chapman.I liked this book because it has kids who can turn into any kind of animal. It is about friendship. It is also about a mission that they have to go on.My favorite part of the book is when Cassie turns into a dolphin to get to the ocean. What I dislike about the book is that they can not tell us there last name because if they do they will be killed or be made slaves.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great underwater adventure
I thought this book was really good, the Animorphs took a good underwater adventure. I thought the whole book was fast paced, my favorite part was when they were in dolphin morphs and faught that shark.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best
This is one of the best books in the Animorphs. It is also a crucial part of the series. I have read this book at least ten times. Cassie is my favorite Animorph, and this is the first book told from her point of view. It's generally about the Animorphs adventuring under the sea to find out whether someone is down there calling to them, but there were lots of smaller bits that I really liked. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A funny One
This was an interesting and funny book in the Animorphs series. We get to see what Ax thinks and sees for the first time, it was a really good book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ax is the COOLEST!
This is the BEST Animorphs book I ever read! Ax is just so stupid that he's funny. I kept reading the bit when Ax was at the movies again and again - I feel so sorry for him since he's all on his own on a distant planet where nobody looks like him except Visser Three who is evil :(
5-0 out of 5 stars The First Ax Book
This is the first "Ax" book of the Animorphs series. I have to say it's one of the funniest Ax books. You get to see his opinion on humans, and at the end you also meet Ax's parents (kind of) and find out about Seerow's Kindness.(See the Hork-Bajir Chronicles)

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally!
Finally KA's books are getting interesting again!. I skipped some books after I started to get bored with the series. I got this one just to see if it was any good. (Ax is one of my favorite characters.) I was pleased with it and went on to get The Answer.
3-0 out of 5 stars Hmmmmmm
I was impressed with this book but there was something missing from it. I usually love the "Ax" books but there was something wrong with it. Maybe it's because Applegate started to get more interested in her other series but the corny sense of humor that Ax has was gone. I was shocked with the way he reacted when he found out the Cassie let Tom walk off with the morphing cube. While we're on the subject, I didn't like that part of the series. What Cassie did was just plain dumb. You know, I can understand why she didn't let Jake kill Tom, but why didn't she get him herself? I may have lost some of you, but if you read THe Ultimate, you'll understand.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great
In this book, humans are being rounded up and boarding subways at gunpoint. There is no doubt that the subways lead to the Yeerk pool, and the Animorphs are considering blowing up the Yeerk pool. Will they blow it up, or will they not? read the book to find out! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the secret
My thought of the secret is that is greatly written not over dramatic and it does not take along time to get into the action of the book it was good i am at the part where they are just about to turn into the termites in sneak into the yeerks loging camp to me my favroite charcter is tobias. This book is a good book to any one that likes the series it would also be good for anyone just beging to read but around the age of six.The suspense of the book is great they put in just enough not to much not to little.

5-0 out of 5 stars THe Funniest Cassie Book
Usually I don't like the Cassie books as much(except for #19)- but this one was great! From begining to end this one is great.
2-0 out of 5 stars Not so good
This book is not so good. Why did they have to do the skunk stuff? And the termite thing was weird. This is the only ANIMORPHS book I don't like. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars OK
In this book the Yeerks invade the free HB colony. there is also the diary for one of Jake's ansestors who was a general in the Civil war. It's not too good :(

1-0 out of 5 stars ...
I am an avid Animorphs reader...but this book left me disapionted.I thought it was the worst out of the whole series.I did not like the diary entries from Jake's grandfather. If you are looking for realism read this book otherwise just skip the diary entries because they give no addition to the story except make it longer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
This was pretty good, but it could've been better. I liked it a lot, but compared to #49 and #50, it's only 4 stars. Right after I read it, I would've said it was awesome, and that it is 5 stars. But #49 and #50 are the BEST in the entire series. This is a must-read, but those are even better. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best
In this book, Marco and Jake discover an old friend of Marco's named Erik handing out flyers for the Sharing. They discover that he is an android created by the long-dead Pelmites, and though hard-wired for nonviolence, the Chee hate the Yeerks and act as spies for the ANIMORPHS.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reader Over 25
There are several other basic synapsis of this book already written, so I won't rehash it all here.As with all my other reviews (I'm working on the entire series as they get reread) I'm here to offer up a different point of view.If anyone out there is wondering what someone way out of the normal age group sees in these books, then this one is for you.5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!!!!!!!
This book was fantastic!! I loved it!! Of course, I love all Animorph books!! It was weird, crazy, and insane all at once!! KA Applegate is the best author ever! She did a fantastic(times 100000000000000000 more)Buythis book! Or the Yeerks shall get you. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Breath of Fresh Air
There is a familiar and sometimes wearying continuity in the Animorphs series. Each book is from a single point of view in this order: Jake, Rachel, Tobias/Ax, Cassie, Marco. This book is a breath of fresh air because it is from the PoV Visser One.
5-0 out of 5 stars Insight Into the Yeerks
I'd been a fan of the "Animorphs" series throughout and read all of the books, but up until now, I'd never had the opportunity to read this one until now. This book reveals the full details on how the Yeerk known throughout Visser One as most of the series came to Earth and how the plans for Earth's conquest came to be.
3-0 out of 5 stars Visser
I have wanted to read this book after I finished # something in Animorphs. I have heard great reviews about this book, but I don't think that is all cracked up to be. Sure it has a couple of good spots, but it gets boring after about the third page. U DO NOT have to read this book to finish the Animorph series. All the other books r awsome! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Taken to another planet
The mighty o powrful Ellimist takes the Animorphs and Erik the Chee to another planet to fight the Howlers in orfer to save a race that could help them against the yeerks in the future. It was a great book and Applegate created a fun fascinating planet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clever Solutions
This is one of my favorite books of the entire series. K.A. Applegate throws another curveball with this book with an ingenious resolution. In this Jake book, the Animorphs and Erek take on seven Howlers (the vicious aliens who destroyed the Pemalites) as the chosen champions for the Ellimist and Crayak. Jake has seen the Crayak before, way back in #6 when the Yeerk died in his head. The Animorphs and Erek must defeat the seven Howlers to decide the fate of the Iskoort species, an amusing, unsymmetrical guild and merchant species. While on the planet, the Animorphs learn why the Iskoort are so important and how their survival can affect the war with the Yeerks.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Jake Book
In this book their is Jake(The leader of the Animorphs or to yeerks Andalite bandits)he wakes up sweating and scared because he has a nightmare about a Bloodred eye(for those of you that never read the The Capture #6 when a yeerk died in his head that's when he had first seen this eye). After that he in a school watching a excerpt of the Lion King. That's when the ellimist who(is a all powerful creature who can do anything gave them chance to save themselves and their family and go to another planet and ditch the world in The Stranger #7and gave Tobias back his morphing power but didn't give his humanity in The Change #13).He stopped time to ask the animorphs to help him save race called the Iskoort from Crayak(The blood-red eye.Crayak is evil has Problem with the ellimist so he wants to kill them. The ellimist wants them to fight for him in a game.Seven of them versus seven howlers(who were the one to destroy the pemalites who created the chee who are Androids)Animorphs only have six members so they bring the Erek the chee so now they are on planet Iskoort and ready to fight.P.S Crayak made the howlers.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Animorph
This one starts with Jake having some wierd flashes when he's in the rainforest. Then there seems to be a Yeerk Bug Fighter crashed into the supermarket. The Animorphs go to investigate and end up taking the Bug Fighter for a joyride attempting to land it in DC- right on the President's front lawn! THeir plans go awry when they run smack into Visser 3's Blade Ship and somehow end up in the rainforest!
4-0 out of 5 stars somtimes confusing
This book was the third Animorphs book I read. At some points it was confusing, but it was a good book. It started when a next-generation Bug fighter crashed into a Safeway. human-Controllers are cleaning up the mess. The Animorphs morph flies and steal the Bug fighter. But it causes a time disortation, and the Animorphs are in the past eight hours. when they reach the time that the time disortation happened, both Jakes will dissappper. Read the book to learn the ending!

5-0 out of 5 stars A really great book
This book is about five kids who can change into animals. They change into animals by collecting the dna. The best thing aboutthis book is all of the battles. They battle the Yeerks wich are aliens who go inside your head and take over your brain. I would consider this to bescience fiction because in the real world you can't turn into an animal. If you like animals or aliens you would probably like this story. I would recommend this book to anyone who can read. Animophs eleven The Forgottenen was probablyone of the best books I've ever read. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book - Only a few flaws
I think this book is one of the best Tobias books, but it seems so abrupt when he meets his mother. It's almost like Tobias says, "Hi, I'm your son." Then it's as if his mother says, "Oh. Okay then. I knew that." I don't really like that part. Otherwise, it's pretty good. There are good Rachel and Tobias parts, an appropriate amount of action, and a great deal of emotion.

5-0 out of 5 stars "They Know We're Human."
Yep,that right. The Yeerks are finally begining to think that maybe the 'Andalite Bandits' aren't Andalites at all, maybe they're human. So they have figure out how to tesst them, DNA.Because every time when the Animorphs are in battle, they lose some blood. So if the Yeerks test it they will find DNA strands of every animal the have acquired, and their actual human DNA.They will know who they are, infact the Yeerk computer has already found a match. The Animorphs try to break in and destroy the computer, but they're stopped. But before they leave they see the one match on the computer, its somebody by the name of Loren, Tobias' mother......Tobias is shocked, everyone has always told him his mother is dead,He has to see her and he wants to save her,Jake doesn't really like that idea,He thinks she could be a Yeerk. So Tobias,Marco and Ax will watch her house for 3 days, and if she doesn't go to the Yeerk pool during that time they will know if she safe, but by then so will the Yeerks....But the computer is still going, and soon the other Animorphs' family members will turn up as matches too........5-0 out of 5 stars One of--if not--my most favorite in the series!
I loved this book. It was exceptional. I thought it was funny and exciting, and had everything an Animorph book should. Tobias is one of my favorite characters, and Rachel IS my favorite. Both of these characters were in it a lot, and that was another plus. I loved the chapters when they told their families what they are and what they could do. Rachel's mom reacted so stupidly it was funny. My eyes were glued to the pages without exception for the two and half hours it took me to read it. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. A must-have addition to the Animorphs series! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Sad..
Not the best animorphs book, book a fairly good one. This ( I think) was the first book to make me cry. Who really CAN make that choice Rachel made? I think that this was definatly worth the time spent at the library. To bad some of the animorph books are out of print.

4-0 out of 5 stars How could this happen!!!!
The Ellimist and Crayak have rules to their battle so how could Crayak threaten totrap Rachel. That would be against the rules if he did. This book was written at the end so it is understandable that KA would have a hard time coming up with ideas, but all the books are great even if she got the idea beside a dumpster! (which she did!!)

3-0 out of 5 stars ZZZZzzz
Okay so you want to know why I gave a funny, exciting and entertaining book only threee stars right? Well, I'll tell you why . .

2-0 out of 5 stars skip it
In this book, Tobias and Ax morph taxxons to put natrul gas in the Yeerk pool. Taylor, a Controller says she's part of the Peace Movment and she comes up w/ the idea. It's really boring. Normaly Tobias books are good, but this one is horrible.

2-0 out of 5 stars On a par with 30 and 31...
What can I say? This book should never really have been written. All it does is rehash the events of #33, keeping the uncharacteristic elements of Tobias and leaving out any originality or furthering of either plot or character. This is a 'filler' book, just like the aforesaid #30 and #31: nothing has changed by the end.The two stars, by the way, are for Tobias who remains my favourite character...but for how long, if his books end up like this?

5-0 out of 5 stars One to read
I think Tobias' character really developed in this book. Each Tobias book sees new changes for him and this was a big one. The Animorphs co-operate with Taylor, the Controller who tortured Tobias in #33 for this one. Seeing Taylor again brings up all sorts of memories of his torture and questions in Tobias' mind. He keeps thinking back to when he first became a nothlit, wondering if he actually gave up and chose to be trapped in hawk morph. ( This was one of my favourite parts of the book as I always wanted to know what happened to Tobias when he was first trapped.)What happens to Taylor in the end was definetely deserved, but, as in the case of Visser One, I think she will be back. The ending I thought was very powerful and a great ending line from Rachel. This definetly ranks in my best Animorphs books, not quite up there with #3,#31 and #33, my all-time favourites but close. Tobias is my favourite character and I always enjoy his books. Though only a book to read after you've read some of the other Animorphs and seen the slow devlopment of the characters through time. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A cool book
It was a fun book, the first one Marco, his jokes are just soo funny, another reason why I read these books, no matter how bad they get in trouble or how hurt someone is he can always make you laugh. I likes when he beat up those muggers with his gorilla morph.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good, good, good
I like this book a lot. The best Animorphs book I've read. Right after I read it, I swore to myself that I would always read Marco books. (He's an Animorphs character.)
4-0 out of 5 stars What you see isn't always what you get...
Marco never wanted to be an Animorph. He never wanted to risk his life saving the world with his animal-morphing powers. He knew that if he died, his father would go insane--since both his son and wife would be gone forever. Now, the two year anniversary of Marco's mother's death is coming, and Marco is nervous. And after a dangerous mission that almost got he, Jake, and Ax killed, Marco decides to quit.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW
In this book the Yeerks try to takeover the USS George Washington and its battle group. The Animorphs steal an nat'l airgaurd F-16 and crashland in the ocean next to the carrier. The Animorphs fight the Yeerks on the ship. Will they win, or will they lose? Read the book to find out!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the turning Point in the Series
This book was awesome. It's getting more down and dirty now, since the series is coming to a close soon. There's way more action, there's more drama, and there's more of a reason to fight than just to survive. And when Ax almost does the unthinkable, it just makes it better. This feels like the turning point in the series, so it just makes it cooler.

4-0 out of 5 stars The mini-series picks up!
I was worried about what the ten-book mini-series was going to be like after reading no 45, which wasn't half as good as I expected it to be. But this book was a huge improvement. There was a lot of fighting, but somehow it seemed to return to the quality of the old Animorph books, even though it was short. Ax's previous books have made me dislike him slightly; he seemed more and more arrogant. This book has changed my mind about him, showing why he has always been so careful before to not interfere in human matters, and the terrible choice he had to make. The ending was brillant and echoed parts of the Hork-Bajir Chronicles, especially. The book didn't change so much from the-war-with-the-Yeeks point of view, but it changed Ax's friendship with the Animorphs completely. One of the best Ax books recently! ... Read more
