5-0 out of 5 stars In response to question about Voyage of the Dawn Treader
One of the reviewers wondered why the text was changed at the end of Chapter 12, The Dark Island.I just reviewed both my editions, and they both match the text on the CD.One edition is a Puffin Book, published by Penguin Books (1977) and the other is the First Harper Trophy edition (2000).I wonder why YOUR edition is different?

4-0 out of 5 stars Book size
Well I remembered how much I loved the Narnia series when I was a kid so when I saw all seven books in a box set I had to have them. There is one thing bothering me though, do these books seem shorter to anyone else?I was sure that the books had more pages to them when I first read them, or maybe it was because I was smaller back then!Anyway, I am glad to own the set, I can't wait to give them to my kids to read if I ever have any...

i bought the 7 books set because i am a great fun of tolkien and i had read about lewis in his biography
5-0 out of 5 stars Good Fun!
I have not read these books since I was quite young. It was great to see they have withstood the test of time.I enjoyed them as an adult as much as I did when I was a kid.The boxed set is something I will enjoy having in my library and reading again and again. They really are timeless stories.I wish they would make films of more of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Entertaining and a great value
I love this set.The performers are superb, and are clearly having fun with the reading, the text is unabridged, and there is a complete lack of chessy effects or background sound track, with the exception of segway music at the beginning and end of each CD, which I personally find very a very nice prompt to switch CDs. Even the questionable nod to femminism by including Lynn Redgrave as a reader for "Prince Caspian" does not diminish the production or entertainment value one iota. They presented in a different order from the original book series publication, but that was no matter to me: I simply listen to them in the coreect sequence.I am perfectly content to hear how it all began later rather than sooner.

4-0 out of 5 stars What A Wonderful World It Is
The Chronicles of Narnia - the audios were really quite good. They are each done by different actors.Kenneth Branagh, who I know from Harry Potter's Chamber of Secrets, did well with the story telling of the first book "The Magician's Nephew".All the other actors were wonderful as well. But the best, to me, was Patrick Stewart, in "The Last Battle". What a performance. He caught my attention. So very dramatic, very passionate and funny!Overall, I enjoyed it.And to me, it's almost up there with Harry Potter's audio, and Lord of the Rings audio with Ian Holmes, playing the role of Frodo. If you want to buy it go for it!

5-0 out of 5 stars my comments
I enjoyed the books very much. They are a little different form my usual reading, R.A.Salvadore and Micheal Jordan. The books gave me a needed break. When I finished them I was happy to turn them over to my granddaughtter.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great series of books!!!!!! I love the story!!!!!
It certainly has become one of my favorites series of books, if notthe most. It really kept me entertained. I spent most of my work hours reading the books, and sometimes I hated been working because of the interrumptions. I read almost 10 chapters while working and kept me focused imagining everything that C.S. Lewis described as if I were watching a movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars good read
only disappointed with the books being numbered chronologically instead of by publish date.they are great books for adults and children the like.easy to read and follow - creative, imaginative and humorous.maybe too short a novel and too simple for adults but who isn't a child at heart?the rough pictures in the books are very descriptive and makes the books more interesting.

3-0 out of 5 stars Paper qualtiy poor
The box set is great reading...but for the price...especially the list price of $70.00, I would have expected higher quality paper. The set is printed on pulp paper and will not last worth beans and the covers are thin and not robust. You may as well buy the cheapest set you can find, because the quality of the cheaper books is not any lower, the books are just a little smaller and the "bonus content is just the first chapter of the next book and some other tidbits of marginal interest
5-0 out of 5 stars Book or Movie what a ride

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! Excellent! Superb! (if you like fairy-tales then you may read this review, if not, don't go any further)
The Chronicles of Narnia are beautifully written books. They are some of my favorite books I've ever read. I would strongly reccomend them to everyone. I have read them all seven times, and I still can't decide which is my favorite! People who don't like them surprise me. Not only are they wonderful fairy-tales, they also have a lot of underlying Christian themes.

4-0 out of 5 stars English Class Review
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis are great children's books. They are easy to read and interesting. In The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, it starts out with Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter having to go live with their uncle because of the war and air raids from Germany. One day while playing hide and seek in the house, Lucy hides in a wardrobe and finds herself in another world; Narnia. She meets a fawn and becomes friends with him. He warns Lucy of the White Witch warning her of her power. When Lucy returns to her world, her siblings don't believe her but later on all hide in the wardrobe and walk into Narnia. Edmund betrays his siblings and sides with the White Witch, who makes it always winter, but never Christmas. They run around, following Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, trying to hide from the White Witch while trying to meet Aslan, the lion at the Stone Table. Aslan talks to Edmund and settles for him to never betray them again. The queen does not want the children to be in Narnia because of the prophecy that says that four people will take over Narnia and overthrow the queen. There is a battle over Narnia between the children and the Witch. The children win and become the rulers of Narnia.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books i ever read!
For my book I read the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. I thouhgt it was a very intersting book. In thr begning they moved to this professor house because of the war. He lived on the country side so it was safer there. Lucy the youngest one found a wardrobe. There was something unusual found in the back of the wardrobe. It was another world called Narnia. Lucy made some friends and so did her symbolings. One of there frinds got in trouble. Could the save him befor the white which turned hin into stone?
5-0 out of 5 stars What I thought of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
I thought this was a good book.It was full of adventure and excitement. It was easy to keep the Characters apart, instead of getting them mixed up. It was hard at first to get into but it turned out great. The symbolism was easy to understand and wonderful. It was easy reading and fun. C.S. Lewis is a good writer. I would probably read more of his books. ... Read more

    5-0 out of 5 stars Mr. X
With The Chronicles of Narnia C.S. Lewis creates a magical winter wonderland that involves adventure and suspense. It is a story about four children that are sent to live with a professor who resides in a huge mansion. They discover a world that is always winter and never Christmas. The residents are tormented by a witch that can turn people into stone. Soon a lion named Aslan arrives and brings spring with him and the power to bring stoned people back to life. Ultimately, Aslan kills the witch and the four children become kings and queens of Narnia. It is a quick, effortless read that is entertaining. Once you start you will not want to put the book down. It is an easy recommendation for anyone. I highly recommend giving the book a chance and picking up a copy of it, especially for kids.
4-0 out of 5 stars Kid Friendly
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis was a great children's book. The adventures of Lucy, Edmond, Susan and Peter started when they had to move to their grandfather's house due to a war going in London. As they were playing a game of hide and seek they stumbled upon the magical world of Narnia. There they joined forces with the great leader Aslan and together overthrew the evil white witch. I have read this book as a younger kid and just now and there was a big difference in the way I read it. As a kid it was a lot more magical and I couldn't put it down I just had to read it. Now it might be the fact that this is the second time I have read this but it wasn't as good this time around. I had more wonder in my eyes I guess as a kid. I would recommend this book to everyone but I do truly believe kids will enjoy this book more than adults.

5-0 out of 5 stars A novel perfect for all ages.
The popular children's book The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, teaches biblical messages through a dramatic and intriguing plot. It all begins in WWII when a mother sends her four children off to the country to live with a professor for safety. The children were very curious and often spent hours playing hide and go seek, which lead to them discovering many new rooms and parts of the mansion. One day the youngest girl, Lucy, hid in a coat wardrobe. She walked to the very back of the closet where she revealed a new land. It was snowing and right away she discovered an odd creature. Lucy eventually went back through the wardrobe and tried to explain her discoveries to her brothers and sisters but none of them believed her. Finally Lucy was given the opportunity to prove her tale and her siblings peter, Edmund and Susan followed. Once they all entered the land they were told by a creature named Tumnus that the queen would want to kill them if she ever found them. This is because they were human and threatened her power. The rest of the novel is a biblical parallel to basics tenants of Christianity. The good and evil were always at war and at one point the Lion was slain. He rose from the dead and was able to overthrow evil. This is directly related to what the bible teaches. I believe this a great story. At a young age it has a fascinating plot with magical creatures and a powerful ending. At a more mature age is has vast symbolism that still allows for an easy read, without lacking in complexity. I think the characters in the new land are remotely bizarre but I enjoyed that if left me wondering about their personality because it lacks the usual stereotypes that are often placed on everyday characters. I couldn't tell whether the character was sympathetic or an antagonistic until I kept reading. Overall I highly suggest reading this book. When the final page is read it will leave you thinking. It's a quick read with deep meaning. ... Read more

I'm in my late 30's and I've read this in full for the first time recently and I have to say that this is one of the best books ever written.I can see why this is listed among the top 100 novels since the 1920s by Time Magazine.Unlike many books for children, Lewis never dumbs down or talks down to his intended audience which means even the adult can fully appreciate the genius of his great story-telling and allegory.
5-0 out of 5 stars Sardonic, Interesting and Profound Reading
This novel is written rather sardonically but is captivating enough to keep the reader enthralled. It is actually very enchanting. The reader may also want to do some technical research on many of the absurdities it describes and uses. Significantly the reader should never fail to remember that this is a work of fiction but skillfully written. Its allegorical storyline is profound just the same ... Read more

I loved the book The Magician's Nephew. I loved the book because it was hard to put down. In class I would never want to stop reading. The book was sort of like a mystery. You would suspect one thing and the total opposite would happen. The last 2-3 chapters are the best. If you are looking for an easy read then you will love this book. The book is hard to follow in parts and you really need to think about what is happening.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Magician's Nephew
    Eduardo Zaranski
5-0 out of 5 stars A Bold Beginning
While "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" was published first, it's "The Magician's Nephew" that truly starts off the Chronicles of Narnia. In this book, you'll learn about how Jadis first came to Narnia and what the Professor had to do with it.You'll learn about the lamppost, about why the wardrobe acts as a portal between worlds, and you'll get to watch the founding of C.S. Lewis's magical land. It's fun, engaging, and a great start to the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fast Read
I rarely find a book that I don't want to put down. The Magician's Nephew was such a book. The story moves along quickly, and is written in an easy to read style that doesn't bog down your mind with details, but rather opens your mind and allows it to fill in the details.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good book for Kids!
Chicken Soup for the Kids Soul
1-0 out of 5 stars Parents beware
I have not read this book, but my nine year old daughter has read and enjoyed most of it. Last night though, she cried herself to sleep after reading graphic stories (near the end of the book) by an incest victim whose father was sent to jail and the daughter of an injection drug user who woke up one night with police pointing guns at her. I'm sure the inclusion of these stories was well-intentioned, but there's no way they are "chicken soup" for the average kid's soul.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspirational
Chicken Soup grabs everything that a kid experiences, expertly juggles all of them, weaves a wonderful book, and prints it. Voila! You get Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul.

I actually really wanted this set because the covers were so much better than the english versions, and I was unhappy that the cover was different and has a huge circle on it saying "now a major motion film!" The quality of the translation is great though, and even the pictures are the same as the set I have. I would recommend this book as a spanish translation!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome for kids
I bought this for my 8 and 10 year old daughters.I read the first two out loud to them.It was a great time for sharing what will come in the end.The girls were both able to keep up with the characters easily. They were concerned about everyone's welfare. It provided a great oppurtunity to further discuss the end times. And how easy it is for good people to go the wrong way.

1-0 out of 5 stars Found in our public school
I was familiar with the Left Behind series, mainly from seeing a few snippets of the badly-written, badly-acted movie. Then I learned there was a board game based on the books. A BOARD GAME!! I didn't know there was a series for children based on the adult series until my son came home from school -- PUBLIC SCHOOL! -- with one of these books. I'm sure one of the fundamentalist Christian boys down the street must have suggested these to my son. I was floored that this fundamentalist propaganda was in my public school library. While I'm a protestant and I am open to the study of all religions, to pound this in to impressionable kids' heads (did I mention my son is in ELEMENTARY school?) just amazes me. The people who love this stuff and highly recommend it for kids must be the same people who took their pre-schoolers to see hard-R-rated "The Passion of the Christ" to experience JUST have much Jesus loved them. Sad.... Let kids make up their own minds without scaring the bejezzes out of them.

1-0 out of 5 stars If Christ really behaves like this...
I want him completely and utterly out of my life!!! Please, I beg of you, read ANYTHING besides these unholy books that teach children that the way of God is the only way and they shouldn't question it and try to find their own religion!! Don't bring this upon them please!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great decent family time fun
After getting hooked to a radio book I heard almost 3 years ago I decided to look for other Christian based audio book stories that I could enjoy with my son.I bought this for him and we have heard several so far.The stories are played out in a very real and tangible way.We have sat in bed with our eyes closed and it feels like you're in a theater.Of course it helps if you have surround sound but sounds just as good if not.Great for long trips in the car or to just play on a rainy day at home snuggled under the covers. This type of story telling awakens the imagination of children in a way that TV will never!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining
Listening to the book in full theater format was very interesting and enjoyable.
4-0 out of 5 stars Narnia Radio Theatre - almost perfect
I do NOT enjoy audio books - I generally find them long and boring and would much rather use my own imagination than some actor's choice of cadence and emphasis. On the other hand, I loved (mostly) the BBC radio productions of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" which have become long road trip standards for our family.I have never found a comparable production until I discovered the The Chronicles of Narnia. The voices of the actors were VERY well done(with one exception) and the background sound effects and music were excellent and I found the connective narrative enough without being too much.On the other hand, I have read of the Narnia books so I may be unconsciously bridging gaps. Still, my husband, my son and my grandchildren have only read/seen "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" before hearing this set and had no problem with the other books, so the narrative is probably sufficient.I have two issues with the series which is why I awarded only 4 stars:

5-0 out of 5 stars This one deserves way over 5 stars! THAT GOOD!
"Take a chance!" "Go for it!" "You never know unless you try!" Bet you've heard those expressions before-and how true they are! As sure as God has a plan for each of us, it's tough sometimes to see just how everything will fit together. But when we take a step of faith and trust His leading, we may find that what looks risky often yields the greatest rewards. The Odyssey gang has had its share of challenges too, and they've made some life-changing discoveries. From a desperate flight for freedom to respecting authority to accepting God's will you won't want to miss a single story!

5-0 out of 5 stars Zoe learns about God
My daughter, Zoe (21 months old) and I, loved this book. The basic language & rhymes used by the author are easy to read & entertaining for toddlers. The illustrations are vibrant & eye-catching. This was a great buy!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Attractive Book for Little Eyes
Beautiful hardcover book. Attractive colors for little eyes and application instruction for parents at every page.
5-0 out of 5 stars Aptly named!A simple but complete Biblical introduction!
This Bible is wonderful. The simple (often rhyming) text, cute illustrations, and charming design are expertly done.Even better, it includes most of the essential truths of the Bible, from creation to the resurrection and even a sample 'law' and 'psalm'.We just can't believe how much it includes while being so brief and baby-friendly!
