5-0 out of 5 stars Hooray for correct punctuation!
As a teacher and mother of 7-year-old twins, I found this book right on target!I have a daily calendar of "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" quips, and the girls are happy to be able to get an age-specific taste of why Mommy is a punctuation stickler. They have read through the book several times, and they have each taken time to show me their favorite pages, explaining to me why the comma made such a difference.
2-0 out of 5 stars Parents/grammar lovers should expect more
I had fun reading this book with my kids. Many of the examples were well chosen, and the pictures were always fun, and sometimes pretty clever. (Can you guess how they illustrated I've finally decided to cheer up, everybody!? I couldn't have.) But as an educational experience, the book ranges from unhelpful to misleading or false. The grammar lovers/parents that it targets should expect more.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very funny for kids of all ages
My 9 year old thinks this book is hysterical. It would have been better if there were more to it for the price, but it's still worth buying! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So many good memories.
My grandmother bought this book for me when I was six years old, and I spent countless hours laughing at the poetry and looking at the illustrations. A wonderful book, definitely; very humorous, a great gift for any child. :) I cannot pick my favorite poem from this book, they are all so hilarious; the time spent reading these stories with my mother, grandparents, or friends when I was a child, is priceless.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another blast from the past for me...
I absolutely adore these drawings and poems - I have been reading and giggling and remembering my own childhood when I giggled and laughed at them... My kids both laughed and laughed when I read them to them - and my 18 year old daughter had to show them all to her friends. This is a just an adorable book and well worth the money for the kid at heart or by age!

Hi, my name is Dusty McGruder and I read the book A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein. This book is a book of poetry so there is not really a main plot, setting, conflict, or resolution. However, there are sometimes plots, settings, conflicts, and resolutions for each individual poem.

4-0 out of 5 stars good
I love transformers and this book bigng me good memories, is a good book.
4-0 out of 5 stars NOT QUITE ULTIMATE BUT STILL VERY GOOD.
Over twenty years after arriving on American soil the Transformers continue to be one of the most popular toy lines. But more than just a toy line, with some dozen different animated series counting both in the states and in Japan, as well as multiple comic book series, the Transformers also has a rich and colorful history. The Transformers Ultimate Guide covers the toys, comics, and animated shows in this 144 page book that begins with a history of Cyberton and the eons long battle between Primus & Unicron, the light and dark side of the same coin. The book is written by long time Transformers writer Simon Furman. We'll learn of the very first Transformer named Prima, and the civil war on Cybertron, led by Megatron against the unsuspecting Autobots.Sentinel Prime was the first Autobot leader and would be killed by Megatron, and pass on the Matrix to the Transformer who become known as Optimus Prime.A timeline traces the Autobot/Decepticon war right up and including their eventual crash on Earth millions of years ago.
5-0 out of 5 stars Robots in Disguise
I was skeptical that this book could deliver, but on opening the cover was immediately drawn in by its graphic spreads and the marriage of art and type. No one could hope to chronicle the multifarious incarnations of Takara's transforming toys; but someone has. No one could untangle all the plot threads weaving through the saga of Cybertron; but someone did. No one could possibly provide an engrossing account of Hasbro's marketing variations or its Sunbow division's many animated series; no one except Furman, himself an astute observer and able author of Transformer comics.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite children's book to read aloud!
This book captures literary genius in the form of childish tongue twisters. It proves to be an excellent practice of diction and reading rhythm while providing extreme entertainment for the little listener. The love of words is the beginning of all great literary accomplishment, and this child's book is a step in the right direction.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh, Say I Can't Say
This book was one of my husbands favorites when he was growing up, and now that we are expecting a child he wanted our son to have the same experience. He was so excited when it arrived that he read it to me as a bedtime story. The riddles start out easy, but by the end of the book your tongue is so twisted it's hard to say anything!!It's a lot of fun and we really look forward to hearing our son try to say these riddles when he learns to speak.

4-0 out of 5 stars What a fun book!
This is a really fun book to read. However, you REALLY have to pay attention to the words or you will mess them up.If you love tongue twisters, this is the book for you.It also is great for young readers, but they may become frustrated with some of the words. It's fun for little ones to listen to and to see how fast you can say these phrases. When you hear "faster, faster," well, you know you're encouraging reading in your child.A very fun book - I recommend it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Must for Classrooms Across America
As an elementary principal, this book was loved by students and always checked out from the library. Trevor has a wonderful grasp on bullies and helps students in a sincere, motivating way. The dvd is super if you haven't checked into owning it. It's priced well and the animation/music is highly engaging. The material is solid and right-on with what I saw as an elementary principal and in dealing with bullying issues. If you are a teacher or can arrange author visits, go to trevorromain.com and look into a school/author visit. Trevor is inspirational for students, as well as adults, and will raise the bar for school-wide expectations with his "double-dog dare!" Trevor has visited our campus twice in two years and the students can't get enough!

5-0 out of 5 stars No need to feel Helpless
No child should feel helpless when it comes to the jungle of a playground. This book encourages dialogue and an internal sense of courage. The book is very kid-friendly.The language is perfect for those grade 3-6.The format and cartoon characters make the whole book and subject very approachable for kids. Whether bullied or not, this raises awareness to help all kids help themselves.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great in the Classroom!
This book has been a valuable part of my classroom read aloud program for 3 years now.It is valuable in that it really speaks to the students on their level. It is straight-forward about the problems and realities of bullies and teasing. This book often provided a great springboard into valuable classroom discussions.Students become empowered to stick up for themselves and to understand the thought process of a typical bully.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Freaky-looking clowns, yikes
I just had to say that when I read the other review that said the clowns in here were too scary looking, I chuckled-- until I took a look at the book myself and saw them!Today I was in B&N and saw this book, and I must say those freaky clowns on each page ruin this book.I love these I Spy books, but although I don't get scared by clowns, I do wish they chose a set of cute little clowns instead.Try the Spooky House I Spy book-- so cute and fun!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for me!
For those people acquainted with I Spy books, you know that there is one item that appears on each picture page.Unfortunately, in the Fun House book, the recurring item is a pair of clown-dolls.Call me crazy, but those clowns are downright freaky and they frightened me!They are peering out at you from all sorts of the places and they gave me the creeps.I had intended to give this book as a gift to my 8-year-old son, but couldn't follow through.I just couldn't handle those clowns and didn't know how my kids would react.Again, maybe it's just me, but I can't recommend this book.Sorry if you think I'm a wimp, but if there are others like me, I wouldn't buy this book for your kids.

1-0 out of 5 stars IT's the Great Pumpkin,Charlie Brown
4-0 out of 5 stars Essentially the Same.
Even though this 35th Anniversary Edition is illustrated by someone else, it's essentially the same story book that appeared years ago. True, the story has been trimmed down some. But most of the elements are still there: Linus' desperate hoping, Charlie Brown's holey costume, Lucy putting her brother to bed. The illustration look almost identical to the drawings of the beloved Schulz and if it weren't for the fact that Paige Braddock's name appears on the title page, one wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Besides, this is a great Peanuts's story and one of the best Halloween stories around.

2-0 out of 5 stars Re-Drawn Book Adapted From the TV Special
I almost feel like a traitor saying anything less than praise for this book featuring the Peanuts Gang created originally by Charles M. Schulz.I, like millions of others, grew up with Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Violet, Snoopy, Pig Pen, Schroeder, and Sally.Every year at Halloween I looked forward to seeing the story of sincere Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin in the pumpkin patch. This book contains all the characters and it re-tells essentially the same story but it has been illustrated by Paige Braddock rather than Schulz and adapted by Justine and Ron Fontes and seems to have lost something in the process. The Peanuts gang always was kind of surly with each other, calling names like Blockhead, pulling footballs out from each other and laughing at one another's expense. In this story, of course, Linus is the brunt of the teasing because he has undying faith in the mythical Great Pumpkin. For years I loved watching the Charlie Brown cartoon specials, the catchy piano jazz theme and the short, big-headed kids with their flat feet and funny facial expressions.Who could help loving Snoopy as the Red Baron or little Woodstock? These cartoons have always had a decidedly adult sense of humor, sometimes rather dark humor even though children the world over have loved the cartoon kids themselves.Read more

There are some jokes out there that are so classic they've passed the point where they're funny anymore. Knock-knock jokes fall into this category. Light bulb jokes too. And then there's the best one of them all. Why-did-the-chicken-cross-the-road jokes. Boy oh boy you just can't make anyone laugh with one of those anymore, can you? Well that's the way my thinking would have gone had I not picked up a bizarre little picture book title by the same name. In this book fourteen different children's illustrators are each granted a two-page spread to offer their answer to this, the oldest of questions. No two answers are exactly alike and no two illustrators have styles even vaguely similar. It makes for a book that kids will adore, grown-ups will pore over, and insipient illustrators will want to keep very close at hand.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Family Favorite!
My children (ages 7 and 4) stumbled across this book at our favorite bookstore recently, and I can't say enough about the smiles and cheer it has brought them. I now plan to buy this book as a gift for every child I know (and even a few adults). Adorable black and white photos have managed to capture our animal friends in the most peculiar poses, opening wonderful dialog opportunities in our family. Even if you aren't "blue" this book will elevate the mood of anyone, any age. It's destined to be a favorite for many families.

This book is as exciting for kids as it is for parents.I bought our first I Spy book for a long (17 hrs) plane flight with my 3.5 year old and it really did the job of entertaining him enough.Without it the trip could have been a nightmare.I recommend it to anyone who needs to keep a child entertained and occupied for a longer period of time.

Twenty years after I read this book, I still have "The Sitter", "Crowded Tub", and "Shaking" memorized. The CD with Shel Silverstein reading his work is priceless and his voice makes me laugh and cry with delight.
