Great ending!!!!!!!!!
This book was absouluely wonderful and a great ending!!!!!!!! What else can I say??? I loved it! READ IT

A Fitting End!
As I read this, I could tell this was an entirely different chapter in the Baudelaire's lives than we'd previously been exposed to. Lemony Snicket made it rather clear that the questions we wanted answered wouldn't be answered and it would do no good to answer them. Though slightly disappointing, I think we're better off for it. This book drives the message of the entire series home, and is in so many ways an allegory to what we experience every day. I thought this book was more emotional and better written than all of the other books combined, and was pleased with the couple of things we DID find out, even though there are a million other questions left unanswered. To answer these questions would be to ruin this series and the entire point of these books, and though we thirst for answers, the truth is that answers to these questions would be disappointing and more mysterious than what we're left with.

My Review of Artemis Fowl The Lost Colony
I think Artemis Fowl The Lost Colony is a great book.As with all Artemis Fowl book's it was suspenseful, "filled to brim with action", and always kept reader guessing.
The Best One Yet
This is the best one in the seris yet! Mr. Colfer has struck again with another enhancing novel under the Artemis Fowl seris.

I steamrolled through the first four books in the Artemis Fowl series this past spring and found them genuinely delightful. Unlike some other reviewers I think that this book is best when read in the context of the series, and not as a standalone.

A young lad on a fearless journey in search of his mother
Maurice Sendak's "Mommy?" is an interesting pop-up book which deals with a young lad dressed in blue and red attire who encounters some strange creatures in search of his mother. Among the creatures that this lad encounters as he enters a haunted house, we have a wolf-man, a Frankenstein's monster, a Bride of Frankenstein, a mummy, and a goblin. Each of these individuals are addressed the following question, "Mommy?" Some of the monsters try to scare and impale the lad, but not only is the lad not scared, he pulls some rather amusing jokes, mostly consisting of the disfiguring of their protective coverings.

Amazing!
I've been a Sendak junkie since I was a kid. His books have always been among my vary favorites, and I'm happy to say they're among my kids' favorites as well. I also love pop-ups, so I was really escited to learn about this book. And I must say, my expectations have been surpassed.
Wow!Amazingly intricate Pop-up Book.
My kids and I love pop-up books, and I love paper engineering and building castles and palaces out of paper.When I read this book, I was amazed at how intricate the pop-ups were.Whereas most pop-up books may have 5 or so different pieces of paper on each page, this book has what looks to be 3 to 5 times that number of different small pieces of paper that all interconnect and make an amazing picture.I can't believe they were able to produce this book for the retail price!Surely it can't be by machine?Anyways, your kids will love it, although younger ones will need help closing the pages so that the pieces don't get mangled.I might buy 2 - one for the kids to read and probably destroy, and 1 for my collection.Highly recommended if you love pop-up books! ... Looking forward to the next one...
There are some very interesting tidbits in this volume that clearly affect how I look at parts of the series and how the final book will turn out.This book made me look forward to the next one in the series.In the meantime I got two books in a new series - Why Some Cats are Rascals.Great reading!.

Collector's item or valuable clues?
If there's anyone on your gift list unlucky enough to own the entire series of unfortunate events, you may wish to inflict further adversity upon them by purchasing this additional volume for their collection.Not so much a book as a mystery contained between hard covers, this most attractively presented publication contains two folders, one with a large two-sided poster filled with clues, and a notebook containing correspondence exchanged between a guy named Lemony Snicket and what seems to be two people named Beatrice Baudelaire, one of whom claims to be a fourth Baudelaire sibling.The letters begin before The Bad Beginning and end sometime after The End.
Uh huh, Foggy Bottom used to refer to the State Dept.
Can this book be used as evidence in a court of law? IMO thats where this book is headed. The lawsuits are about to fly, the schism is expanding and soon there will be a lot of wealthy writers and entertainment stars weeping.

busy, wordy and uninspiring
I got this book for my foster teens but tossed it in the recycling bin instead. The book is full of chatter; the authors never get to the point.Plus all the illustrations, boxes and fonts, which I guess are supposed to be hip, give you a headache. I did plog through this quagmire long enough to confirm the authors weren't saying anything that would inspire a kid, so it's just as well they slathered it with window dressing. The book dies have a catchy cover, which I assume is designed to attract parents, not kids.Heck, I bought it.

bit much for my 12 year old
My 12 year old got bored with it, she's probably too young for this book.I am hoping she will pick it up in a year or so. I thought it was interesting and usefull.

This book: The 7 HABITS of Highly Effective TEENS, included many wonderful/helpful ideas, wich i used and enjoyed on my own. This book is what i call a guidance book. That helps in my eyes young teens who have problems in highly effective areas. This book basically shows you how to develope good habbits, it makes you become a better person, working on your personality and bad habits. the author gave you his fathers seven habbits to success in all parts of life. The author Sean Covey, put it in a fun and easy way to understand the point of this wonderful book.This book was actually a slight help to both me and my mother. I learned to work things out with her, and agree on things easier.

Great for discussion!
Although I had a bit of trouble getting into the first 3rd of this remarkable novel, my persistence was rewarded with an incredible book, which leaves so much open to interpretation and discussion.The story of a boy who is shipwrecked, and forced to live on a lifeboat with a tiger for months, it is also the story of our world, our lives and our families.One can't help but wonder about the nature of truth and meaning of our coexistence.In short, it's an impressively rich and meaningful literary journey.Well worth your time.

SPIRITUALLY INSPIRING AND AN INTRIGUING JOURNEY
The Life of Pi is actually a book in two parts. The first half is based primarily on Piscine (Pi) Patel's exploration of three very different religions - Hinduism, Islam and Christianity, as well as his family's ownership of a zoo. The second half of the book is the story of Pi's journey by barge to Canada. The boat sinks leaving Pi, a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra and Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, adrift at sea in a life boat.

Every kid should read this book
This book is a timeless classic.Every parent should read it to their small children.It is a great way to end the day with a sweet good night.

A classic
I must admit that the only reason I bought this book was because people said it is a classic and any web site about children's books named this one. I did not relate to it, because when I was growing up in India, this wasnt popular. When the book arrived and I actually looked at it, I did not understand what the hype was all about and did not really read it to my son until a couple of weeks ago. (I bought the book about a year ago when he was just 4 months :) )

Ooops! She did it again
J.K Rowling has pulled off another stellar Harry Potter. Because the amount of time it takes to complete a 7-part series, I thought she'd run out of steam, but clearly she has not. After seeing what happened with King towards the end of the Dark Towers series, I was afraid another renowned writer might do the same. I was pleasantly disappointed. There is nothing else to say. Great book. She keeps the series rolling perfectly. Some of the goings on (people who've read the story should know what I'm talking about) I believe are front for other plans, and I was not heart broken at the end.
Harry's Daring Quest
Harry Potter and Professor Dumbledore try to research Lord Voldemort's childhood. They search through the pensieve discovering the truth about Lord Voldemort. They realize the rutheless, evil wizard splits his soul into seven pieces by murdering seven innocent people. Then he magicallyhid them into valuable objects, which Harry and Dumbledore set after for. I loved the book because the story line was thrilling and intriguing. The characters were daring, intelligent, humorous, and wise. My favorite character is Harry Potter who is a sixteen year old wizard who's parents died because Voldemort murdered them both. Harry is my favorite character because he is brave and humorous. Some related books to this one are all five of the other Harry Potter books. I think this book ranks number one in comparison to them all.

This book series stinks! And that's flattering.
One star is giving this terrible and uninteresting series a huge compliment. Especially this book, where the plot consists of little but pointless stories of the character's love lives until the end, when there is a quick bit that is actually about Good vs evil. Returning to Neverland
For this return to Neverland
Fits the original like a hand in a glove.
Geraldine McCaughrean's "Peter Pan in Scarlet" is different from all other additions to the Peter Pan mythos in that it reads like an extention of the original story instead of a fanfiction.There is a comforting feel to reading this book, like the feeling of coming home.It was definately a treat to read after having read the original novel.

Im a bird
Im a bird.Eldest was a really good book, but the 1st book, Eragon, was much better.Eldest had a lot less action, and it took too much time talking about Eragons studies, and less about anything else about the Varden or Dwarves.The side story about Roran, Eragons cousin, was more exciting.As it got further towards the end, it was much more interesting and had more action, and was easier to read.the end of the book made me want to read the 3rd book because it left many things unanswered, like who the third dragon egg will hatch for.It was an overall great book, but not enough action in it.

Yawn, Yawn, Yawn.....
Well, I picked up Eragon because I heard it was pretty good. I was in the need of an original book, so I figured I would give it a try. It turned out ok. I was impressed with the age of the author, but was also dissapointed on how much of his ideas were not original. Still, there was something fun about a jedi dragon rider.
Creative and inspiring
I was partly prejudiced when I first picked up Eragon, having read about the authors age of only 15 when he wrote the book. I expected something much more amature than what I read.I was amazed how he spun such a wonderful tale, so wonderfully descriptive, exciting, and created an endearing main character that had many flaws, and LOTS of room to grow.Paolini has a lot of natural talent and has only begun to explore his potential.I hope he will continue writing long after this trilogy is over.

Dear God or Stephenie Meyer, please, please, please, let the third book be better than the second.
Ok, I adore Edward, and I love the way the Stephenie Meyer wrote the first book, but Bella is so slow on the upstake in New Moon. I know that both plots are predictable, but Ms. Meyer writes in such a way that that's usually ok because it answers the reader's prayers(like, "please let him struggle with his love for her some more," etc.) but in the second book, Bella's slowness takes away from that connection to her readers. And I honestly spent most of the book missing Edward. When he finally came back, the lack of drama and closure was rather anticlimactic - I just thought that Edward was more complex than that. Oh well, I hope the third is better.

Disappointed.
I can honestly say Twilight was the most splendid book I have ever read. I loved everything about it, especially the intense love between Edward and Bella. I fell in love with this book so much that I couldn't stop talking about it with my friends for a while. I was looking forward to New Moon, and I ended up finishing the book in a day. I was extremely disappointed with a lot of things that happened in the novel.
My all time FAVORITE book!!
I have to say, Stephenie Meyer has created the most unique, fantastic and romantic world I have ever read about. I read Twilight and New Moon within three days, because when you read these books, you want to know what will happen next. Bella and Edward are adorable together, and the plot line is wonderful. The only complaint I have is the amount of time it takes for the next book to be released. This is the best book ever, even if Edward is only in it a little. For those romantic fans out there, the time he spends in this book is some of the best chapters! I HIGHLY reccomend this series! ... Read more

Very Very cool book
My son loves dinosaurs but had outgrown alot of the kids books out there. This is a great book for older kids and adults will like it too.

Great eye candy for your inner child, and for your other children if you decide to share
This book produced much glee in my house the day it arrived, gasps of joy and amazement, awe and delight. One of these days I'll let my kids look at it, too. I enjoyed it so much that I promptly bought Sabuda's "Alice in Wonderland," "The Wizard of Oz," and another Encylopedia Prehistorica volume, "Sharks And Other Sea Monsters." They're all sensational.
Awesome gift for kids and adults alike!
This book is just simply amazing. When you open each page you cannot stop but to wonder how on earth do they figure out how to not only design and engineer its illustrations but also how to implement it and still manage to sell it at a reasonable price. The content is very informative and educational. Definitely something that one can re-read with interest for many years. It also works great as a reference book for children and it could very easily be helpful for one of their school projects. A VERY WELL DONE BOOK - QUITE INFORMATIVE
I normally do not care all that much for "pop-up" type books, as they tend to sort of come apart at the seams with constant use.This one is differnt though.It is well made and is able to stand a lot of use and abuse.The story is great, tellin the life cycle of a butterfly.The illustrations are quite colorful and very easy to follow and understand.The text goes perfectly with the pictures and it is amazing how how the little one cannot keep thier fingers out of the many holes the caterpillar chews through on his way to becoming a butterfly.This explains the life cycle of the butterfly.I found, with my grandchildren, that after reading the book (time and time again) that when we captured a live caterpillar, gave it plenty to eat, and let it go through the entire process as shown in the book, they, the grandchildern were absolutely fascinated.Recommend this one highly.

Love this book!!!
This book is one of my childrens' favorites.From the time they were both too little to know their days of the week they still chimed in when the caterpillar ate and ate and was "Still Hungry" until they could say the days of the week with no problem, this book will forever be a staple among my families' collections.The illustrations are Eric Carle's usual terrific array of colors and creatures. This book is also great for nursery school teachers to read and explain to their children the beautiful transformation from caterpillar to butterfly by using live caterpillars as an educational tool.

Very useful
I needed to order this book for a class. It is well written and easy to read. As a reading teacher I can say that I will keep this book as a reference long after the class has ended. This edition comes with a CD (or DVD) which I have not previewed yet, but the instructor of my class raves about it.

The best reading methods textbook I've found
I teach a course in elementary reading methods for undergraduate education students.This is the third textbook I've tried, and it is excellent! It has what students need to know about the theory and practice of teaching reading, written in a very readable, non-overwhelming way.Plus it has lots of practical teaching ideas.Our lab school saw it and ordered several copies for its teachers also.I highly recommend it.

A must have!!
I was first introduced to this book in one of my graduate literacy courses and I have been hooked every since.The teachers at my school pass it around constantly looking for ideas. My favorite aspect of this book is the fact that there are real teachers giving real examples of what works in their classrooms.There are no strategies that seem too hard implement in your classroom, because the layout is right there!!You know it can be done and it words because the examples in the book are proof!You don't feel like you are reading about some ideal or Utopia of a classroom. My daughter LOVES this book
I actually surprisingly just bought this book earlier today and my almost 17 month old daughter already loves it.She loves the rhythm of the words and the large colorful animals.She like the fact that she is familiar with all the animals and can tell me what noise they make. I purchased the board book because she like to turn the pages on her own and I didn't want the book to be messed up.All in all. . . NO REGRETS

Great book to bond with your child
This is the first book that my daughter and I read every night.She points out the different animals when I read.It is a great book that teaches colors and animals.I recommend this book to every parent as first reading material with your child.

A prett decent Pratchett effort
Terry Pratchett has been a bit hit amd miss for me of late, but I do always enjoy the Tiffany adventures. This is definitely one of his best efforts of recent times. It's better than A Hat Full Of Sky (which I did like) but not as enjoyable as some of his darker efforts. This is an easy read full of Pratchett's trademark wit. I preferred Thud in terms of story and tone, but for an easy read Wintersmith can't be faulted. It's not too heavy going and will probably go down as the wittiest fantasy read of 2006 along with The Book With No Name. There's nothing particularly straying away from the tried and tested formula, but if you know what you like about Pratchett, then you should already know if you're gonna like this.
Crivens! Another one!
I love the Tiffanny Aching Adventures, so I was really glad when my brother gave me Wintersmith for my birthday. Now would probably be a good time to tell you that I am writing this on my father's account. My name is Charlotte Moore and I think that Terry Pratchett is a genius. I have read his equally good books A Hat Full of Sky, The Wee Free Men, and The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents.
More Than a Boffo Book
It's hard to understand how he does it, but with each book he writes Terry Pratchett out does himself. Each book is even better than the last. And this is certainly the best book of the Tiffany Aching series.

Can you say Caldecott?
This book doesn't need my review -- it's brilliant and it's time this duo won a Caldecott for their conribution to children's books.It doesn't get much better than this.
Curtis hits a homerun
I had the opportunity to read this delightful little book while waiting for my wife and step son.It is nice in its simplicity.The book is written for children, very young children, struggling with things that only young children think of.Because of that it was worth reading.If you are expecting it to be more than helpful for children that might be a stretch but it is defiinitely something to read to a child and then discuss.

Simply Spectacular!
This book is all about those crazy questions that only a child can come up with...but that are plaintive and need a response...in this book we see the wild imaginings of a child and all of his fears and dreams of what it means to be in the human race!What can I say but WOW...there is a lot going on in this book and the question is silly, yet serious...just the kind of question a kid would ask and the message itself (as written by Curtis) is priceless! I'm constantly trying to encourage without making things into a competition...stressing that just trying one's hardest/best is what counts, that life is really more about the journey not the destination.The illustrations and the rhyming poems are of the same quality as the other books I've read by Curtis and Cornell...and I think that's part of what makes this book work so well...the illustrations are a chaotic symphony...so much to see, so many little details for young minds to love and the play between what the words mean literally and what they mean figuratively is absolutely perfect for pulling in both children and adults!This is really a wonderful book for all ages and as with others by this author, its best as a read aloud...the larger the group the more interesting the story telling discussion afterwards...and believe me, there will be plenty!!Simply a spectacular way to introduce some complex ideas to younger readers!I'll definitely be adding this to my permanent collection!
